LOUIS ‘STEVE’ MORGAN, age 68, of Chicago, Air Force Veteran died suddenly May 20th .

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 23 from 3 to 9 PM at Rago Brothers Funeral Home, 7751 West Irving Park Road, Chicago.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Mary 24 with prayers at 9:30 AM from the Rago Brothers Funeral Home to St. Ferdinand Church for a 10:30 AM Mass.

Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Steve is survived by his wife, Marce N., nee Crimmin; three children, Brian (Erika), Ken (Sandy), and Daun (John) Pancorvo; seven (7) grandchildren, Noah, Annie, Joshua, Jake, Hayley, Amanda, and Briella; his mother, Katherine Renieris; his brother, John (Pat); his sisters, Ann Cardone, and Kathy (Tom) Hanrahan; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his father, Louie Morgan.

Steve was a retired 29-year employee of the C.T.A. and the best fish fryer at St. Ferdinand’s Parish.

Richard L. Amelio, Jr., age 38, of Villa Park, veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard, died May 17 at Elmhurst Hospital.

 Visitation will be Sunday from 3PM to 9PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 304 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home.

Interment will be private.

Mr. Amelio is survived by his mother Robin A. nee Bujak (Tony P.) Maro of Villa Park; his father Richard L. (Helen) of Tampa, Florida; his grandmother, Zona C. nee Freeman of Mt. Prospect; his partner, Michelle Cruz; three brothers, Anthony (Brenda) Maro of Denver, Co., Andrew (Billie Jo) Maro of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and Frank (Anna) of New York; five sisters, Donna (Richard) Sorensen of Durant, Iowa, Laura Amelio of Tampa, Fla,

Natasha Amelio of Tampa, Fla, Tori (William) Unger of Villa Park, and Becky (Josh) Kwiatkowski of Villa Park; five nieces and six nephews; nephew and cousin of many.

Mr. Amelio is preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo W. Bujak.

 Mr. Amelio was in the U.S. Coast Guard for eight years and the U.S. Navy for four years. He was one of the first responders with the Coast Guard during Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Amelio was a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

SHARON MAROZZA, nee Bendix, age 74, of Villa Park died May 13 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mrs. Marozza is survived by two daughters, Cheryl L. (Ray) Theurer of Belvidere, and Debra Marozza of Villa Park; five grandchildren, Tabitha Marozza, Amanda Miller, Jonathan Soucek, Samantha Evans, and Savannah Theurer; her great-grandson, Patrick Karl Marozza; four sister-in-laws, Mary Landa, Jessie Phelps, Betty Namie, and Peggy Mansberry; and her brother-in-law, Ronnie Marozza, all of Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Marozza is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and her brother, Edward Bendix, Jr.

Mrs. Marozza grew-up in Lombard and was a graduate of Glenbard West High School.  She was a resident of Villa Park since 1972 and was formerly of Lombard from 1946 to 1972.  Mrs. Marozza was formerly a member of St. Pius X Church in Lombard and is a current member of St. Alexander’s Church in Villa Park.  She had retired as a Clerk for the City of Elmhurst in 2001.

JAMES P. OSTIEN, age 65, of Bloomingdale, died May 2 at Alexian Brothers Hospital, Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

 Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 6 at 10 AM at Brust Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.

 Mr. Ostien is survived by his wife, Linda, nee Griesbaum; his son, Thomas Krause; his sister, Karen Thesen; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Mr. Ostien was a proud Army veteran who loved to golf, hunt and fish and also enjoyed his motorcycles and boat.  He retired from the railroad having worked 38 years for Soo Line and Canadian Pacific.  He enjoyed collecting electric trains and also enjoyed watching football and baseball.  Mr. Ostien was very generous with his time and talent and could fix, build, or remodel anything with perfection.  For every family and friend he had built or remodeled a project in their house.  He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity in 2011 where he went to Vietnam to help build homes in the jungle.  He participated in numerous charity motorcycle rides:  Veteran run, Ride for Kids, Toys for Tots, and Operation welcome Home.  When his nephew Justin was deployed to Iraq, Uncle Jim flew his flag for him EVERYDAY.  He was the proud daddy of his puppies, Valda Rose and Jesse James.  He was loved by wonderful family and awesome friends and he made people laugh.  He “saved the day!” – his nephew’s party would have been cancelled but Jimmy would not have that and spent 3 hours in the morning fixing the faucet.  He said “the little fella has to have a party.”  He loved Frank Sinatra … and Jim “did it his way!”

WILLIAM C. KAISER, age 87, of Lombard, died on April 29, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

 We will celebrate his life on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Lombard at 155 S. Main Street, Lombard, IL.

 Mr. Kaiser is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna; five children, Mark (Sue) Kaiser, Jacquie (Cara Oosterhouse) Kaiser, Cheryl (Adriaan) Veldhuisen, Jeffry Kaiser, and Vicki Kaiser, PhD; four grandchildren; Eric (Rachel) Kaiser and Devin (Sarah) Kaiser, and Harold and William Veldhuisen; his sister, Glennith King; his nephew, R. Stephen King; and his niece, Roxanne (Bill) Warren.

 Bill loved his family, nature, science, farming, Boy Scouts, philanthropy, religion and politics.

 He grew up on a farm in Athalia, Ohio and learned about nature, grace and honesty from his father.  A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  After the war, Bill attended and graduated from Antioch College where he met his beloved Donna at their mailboxes.  He obtained his Master’s in Physics at the University of Cincinnati.  In 1952, Bill took a job with Victoreen in Cleveland and they moved to Maple Heights, Ohio.  In 1956, Bill accepted a job at Argonne National Laboratories, so they moved to Lombard.  They found a house on a double lot with several fruit trees and room for a large garden so he could grow vegetables like his father on his childhood farm.  Among other projects during Bill’s 30-year career at Argonne, he helped design a vacuum electron microscope and worked on the Reagan Star Wars project.

 His children’s fondest memories are about eating fresh fruits and vegetables, selling apples and tomatoes door-to-door for Christmas money, and singing along with dad, funny mishaps and enjoyable family time while on their summer camping trips.  

 After retiring, Bill’s political involvement grew.  Fighting an uphill battle in a largely Republican area, he was a rebel in the DuPage community by serving as a Democratic Precinct Committeeman.  In 1990, he unsuccessfully ran for an Illinois State Senate seat. 

 Bill lived his philosophy – though shalt love thy neighbor as thy self – and received numerous philanthropic awards during his life.  As a Boy Scout Leader for over 32 years, Bill most enjoyed camping trips, where he led camp songs; introduced scouts to nature and taught them the names for trees, plants, and animals he had learned from his father.  He loved scouting.

 Perhaps Bill is best known in the community for his volunteer work at the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry, which he oversaw for 25 years after retiring from Argonne.  Throughout his life, he demonstrated his beliefs in equality, love one another, and do unto others through his actions.

Mrs. Gurka is survived by her son, Robert (Mary) of Lombard; her daughter-in-law, Helen (Tim) Tipton of Florida; three (3) grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Gondek of Mundelein, Michael of Florida, Amy Gurka of Chicago; and two (2) great-grandchildren, Soren and Anakin.
Mrs. Gurka is preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Albert; her grandson, John Gurka; and 6 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Gurka was born in Evanston and was a resident of Lexington in Lombard for 20 years. She was formerly of the Harwood Heights neighborhood in Chicago, and then Schaumburg. Mrs. Gurka had worked for Irving Park Cemetery years ago. During World War II she helped build planes for Douglas Aircraft Company. Mrs. Gurka was a baker, crafter, and gardener.

Mr. King is survived by four children, Jeannie Jones of Dexter, Kentucky, Diane (Bill) Kielb of Naperville, Dr. Joseph, Jr. (Dr. Patricia) of Madison, Wisconsin, and Helen Winter of Lombard; eight (8) grandchildren; and five (5) great-grandchildren.
Mr. King is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle ‘Peggy’, nee Jones; and six (6) brothers and sisters.

Mr. King was a resident of Lombard 58 years. He was a member of the Villa Park VFW and also a member of the Conservation Corp. Mr. King was an exceptional human being who was admired for his strength and kindness toward others.

Dr. Lulinski-Dybalski is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack N.; two sons, Jack (Catherine) of Littleton, Colorado, and David (Deborah) of LaGrange Park; her daughter, Susan of Denver; two grandchildren, David and Danielle; her brother, Sylvester (Phyllis) Lulinski; and her dearest niece, Darice.

Dr. Lulinski-Dybalski was the first elected president of a 252 member medical staff at Little Company of Mary Hospital, as well as the first woman to be named staff president. She was in professional practice for 60 years.

Mrs. Akins is survived by her husband, David L.; her son, John A. Gage; her daughter, Christine M. (Tim) Watson; her step-daughter, Nicole M. Akins; three brothers, Bill, Bob, and Fred Rasmussen; her mother, Mary L. Rasmussen; many nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Marsha Raffen; and her cousin, Ray Olson.
Mrs. Akins is preceded in death by her father, William H. Rasmussen.

Mrs. Akins had moved to her dream house on the Rock River where she had camped with her children every week-end growing up. She had a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University. Mrs. Akins enjoyed gardening and interior decorating. She was very creative and had an artful eye. Mrs. Akins struggled with cancer after being diagnosed in November, 2011.
