Richard “Dick” Tross, age 63, of Lombard, died Monday in Lombard at his home.
Visitation Friday from 3 – 9 P.M. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral prayers Saturday 12:15 P.M. from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Church for 1 P.M. Mass. Interment private at Allerton Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Tross of Tenn;: his four grandchildren, Gage, Nicolene, Tim and Madison; and two brothers, Roger (Christine) of Des Plaines and Michael of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy nee Mellon, his son, Christopher, and his brother, Ronald.
He was born in Chicago and attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary, St. Hedgwick, St. Mary Seminary and Roland D. Amundsen Chicago City College.
Dick had been a resident of Lombard for 41 years. In the 1970’s when he worked for the Southwest Appliance store in Lombard, he was a very active member of the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce. He served for a number of years as a member of the Lombard Jaycees Taste of Lombard Committee. He and other older Jaycees have run the very popular bingo tent at the Taste of Lombard. He also served on the Lilac Parade Committee for over 25 years. He was a member of the Lombard American Legion Post #391 and the Lombard Moose.
Mr. Tross was currently serving his sixth term as District 2 Trustee, Village of Lombard. In his tenure on the board, he has served on nearly every village committee. He most recently served as president of the Board of Local Improvements and chairperson of the Transportation and Safety Committee.
In lieu of flowers, the family and friends have established a memorial fund where checks made payable to Lori Tross, may be sent to Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL 60148.
