Richard “Dick” Tross, age 63, of Lombard, died Monday in Lombard at his home.

Visitation Friday from 3 – 9 P.M. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Funeral prayers Saturday 12:15 P.M. from the funeral home to Sacred Heart Church for 1 P.M. Mass.  Interment private at Allerton Ridge Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Tross of Tenn;: his four grandchildren, Gage, Nicolene, Tim and Madison; and two brothers, Roger (Christine) of Des Plaines and Michael of Chicago.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy nee Mellon, his son, Christopher, and his brother, Ronald.

He was born in Chicago and attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary, St. Hedgwick, St. Mary Seminary and Roland D. Amundsen Chicago City College.

Dick had been a resident of Lombard for 41 years.  In the 1970’s when he worked for the Southwest Appliance store in Lombard, he was a very active member of the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce.  He served for a number of years as a member of the Lombard Jaycees Taste of Lombard Committee.  He and other older Jaycees have run the very popular bingo tent at the Taste of Lombard.  He also served on the Lilac Parade Committee for over 25 years.  He was a member of the Lombard American Legion Post #391 and the Lombard Moose.

Mr. Tross was currently serving his sixth term as District 2 Trustee, Village of Lombard.  In his tenure on the board, he has served on nearly every village committee.  He most recently served as president of the Board of Local Improvements and chairperson of the Transportation and Safety Committee.

JOYCE MARY ROBERTS MITTER, age 81, of Lombard, died April 27 at Brighton Gardens, Wheaton, Illinois.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 30 with Mrs. Mitter Lying-In-State from 9:00 AM until time of Service at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 South Lincoln Street, Lombard.
Interment will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mrs. Mitter is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank W.; her son, Thomas Matthew (Michiko) of Long Beach, California; her daughter, Barbara Mitter (Bart) Hoberecht of Duvall, Washington; three grandchildren, Anna Augusta Edquist, Wesley Hoshitaka Mitter, and Eugene Ryusei Mitter; her brother Eugene Francis (Janet) Roberts of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mitter is preceded in death by her mother, Edith; her father Eugene; and her brother, Russell K. Roberts.

Joyce was a resident of Lombard since 1953. She was a 1947 graduate of York High School. Joyce was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

WRAY W. MILLER, age 84, Veteran, U.S. Navy World War II and Korea, of Glen Ellyn, died April 26 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, Illinois.

Mr. Miller is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Berka of Hayward; his son, Wray R. (Mary Ann) of Wisconsin; and five grandchildren, Linda Erickson, Christopher (Megyn) Erickson, Michael Dudley, Bradley Miller, and Alison Miller.

Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine H., nee Dalluege; and his brother, Ralph.

Mr. Miller was a resident of Glen Ellyn for 51 years. He was a graduate of Proviso East High School in 1943. Mr. Miller was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Cossateut in World War II and in Korea. Mr. Miller had retired from Commonwealth Edison after 44 years. He was the Past President of F.O.E. in Melrose Park. Mr. Miller had been a past Glenbard Volunteer Fireman. He was a special friend of Margaret and Adolph Guenther. Mr. Miller was an avid fisherman and gardener. He enjoyed camping and did ceramics with his late wife. Mr. Miller was a Member of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn.

ANITA KONDRAT BANKS, age 79, of Lombard, died April 25 at DuPage County Convalescent Center, Wheaton, Illinois.

Mrs. Banks was a long-time resident of Lombard.

SHIRLEY A. HORN, nee Schalkey, age 76, of Lombard, died April 22 at Elmhurst Extended Care, Elmhurst, Illinois.

FRANCIS T. “YANKEE” PEPIN, age 88, of Lexington Square, Lombard, Illinois died February 7.

Mr. Pepin is survived by two sons, John (Karen) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Robert (Susan) of Lombard; five (5) grandchildren, Kathryn, Zachary, Lisa, Stephanie and Jack; three (3) sisters, Rita (the late Edwin) Shannon of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Theresa (Harold) Rathfoot of Escanaba, and Sister Lorraine Pepin O.P. Dominican Sisters of Adrian Michigan; many brother and sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pepin is preceded in death by his wife, Florence, nee Salmon; his eight (8) brothers, Henry, Victor, Raymond, Wilfred, Lester, Ernest, Donald and Leonard.

Mr. Pepin was born in Escanaba, Michigan to Jean “John” Baptiste and Ernestine Edouardina DuBord “Edna” Pepin.  He was a Veteran and served his country well in World War II in the U.S. Army air Corps.  Mr. Pepin was shot down, captured, and was a POW of Germany for nearly two years.  After his service, Mr. Pepin attended Ferris State College and worked at Chattfield’s in Escanaba before moving to Buffalo, New York.  He was married in Buffalo and worked for over 31 years with DuPont Company’s Fabric and Finishes Division.  Mr. Pepin returned to Escanaba after retirement and lived there until 2005.  For the last five years he was a resident of Lexington Square in Lombard.  Mr. Pepin enjoyed fishing, reading and trips to the family cottage on Lake of Bays, Ontario.  He was a warm, gentle, thoughtful, and generous man who was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

ROSE MARIE MARTORELLI, nee Licuora, age 70, of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Lombard died April18 at Glen Oak Hospital, Glendale Heights, Illinois.

Mrs. Martorelli is survived by her son, Salvatore, III; two daughters, Angela Lonergan of Westmont, and Lu Ann (John) Risden of Glen Ellyn; two Grandchildren, Salvatore Martorelli, IV, and Ashley Risden; two sisters, Josephine (Tony) Caporale of Villa Park, and Louise Caporale of Arizona; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martorelli is preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore, Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Jim Caporale.

Mrs. Martorelli was a resident of Lombard for 20 years.

DAVID M. DAVIES, age 75 of Venice, FL, formerly of Lombard, died April 16, at Loyola Medical Center. Visitation will Tuesday, April 20, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. Brust Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Mr. Davies is survived by his wife LaVeda nee Finch; his children: Ketra (Bob) Pauley of Winfield, Chris “Kristy” (Grant) McGrenera of Winfield, Cathy Curtis of Downers Grove, and Tom (Alina) of Downers Grove; 12 grandchildren – Nathan, Nick & Matt Pauley; Casey Dikun; David, Jacy & Chandler Curtis; Kara (Elton) Silva; Kylie McGrenera; Dziugas, Liudas, & Jurate Davies; his sisters: Sarah (Bill) Hogoboom of Madison, WI and Jean (Farnsley) Peters of FL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ava nee McGlone and his brother John.

Mr. Davies had been a resident of Venice, FL, for 22 years and had resided in Lombard for 25 years. He and Mrs. Davies were married 50 years. He retired as Senior Educator from IBM in 1984. He owned and operated Davies Coins & Rocks in Lombard for many years. He was an avid antique collector and clocksmith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
