Paul E. Morris, Sr., age 85, of Lombard, died Monday, June 7, 2010 at his home.
Visitation Wednesday from 2:30 – 8:30 P.M. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
Funeral prayers Thursday, 10:30 A.M. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St,, Lombard to Sacred Heart Church, Mass 11:00 A.M.
Interment St. Michael Cemetery, Wheaton.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Sherry L. nee Bower; five sons, Michael (Paula) of Lockport, Thomas of Lombard, John of Lombard, James (Sheila) of Plano and Paul, Jr. (Linda) of Elmhurst: two daughters, Martha “Marty” (David) Schillerstrom of Naperville and Susan “Susie” (John) Krebs of Lombard; sixteen grandchildren, Michael, Jr. (Laura) of Lisle, Erin Morris of Lockport, Kevin Schillerstrom of Naperville, Erik Schillerstrom of Oswego, Sherry Krebs of Lombard, Corinne Schillerstrom of Naperville, Kelly Krebs of Lombard, Judy Morris of Elmhurst, Stacy Krebs of Lombard, K C Morris of Elmhurst, Lily Morris of Plano, Emily Morris of Elmhurst, Jack Morris of Plano, Trey Morris of Elmhurst, Claire Morris of Plano and Carly Morris of Plano; two great grandchildren, Michael Morris III of Lisle and Megan Morris of Lisle: two sisters, Margaret (Daniel) Andrews of Quincy and Rosemary (Tom) Gott of Quincy; sister in law, Dorothy Morris of Quincy: two brothers, Robert (Charlene) of Quincy and James (Susan) of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl.
Mr. Morris was retired after 32 years as a teacher, baseball and football coach at Glenbard East High School. He was a teacher for over 43 years having also taught at Coleman High School, Coleman, WI,, Virginia High School , Virginia , IL and St Bede Academy, LaSalle, IL. He grew up in Quincy, IL and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy. He graduated from Quincy College and received his Masters Degree in Education at University of Illinois. He was a member of the Illinois Drivers Teachers Association, TRS, IEA and NEA. He was was selected by Glenbard High School to the Academic Heritage Hall of Fame.
He was a veteran of the US Army. During World War II, he served in the 3rd Army with General Patton in France, Germany, and Belgium. He was a former member of the VFW.
Mr. Morris had been a resident of Lombard since 1961. He was an active member at Sacred Heart Church and was a First Degree member of Knights of Columbus, Father Boecker Council 6090.
