F. Marguerite P. Aull, age 92, of St. Charles, formerly Lombard, died September 29 at Provena Pine View Care Center, St. Charles.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 7 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard.
Funeral Services will be held Monday. Mrs. Aull will be lying-in-state from
10AM until time of service 11AM at the First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main St. Lombard.

Mrs Aull is survived by four children, James (Barbara) of AL., Diane (Joseph) Winkler of St. Charles, Jeffrey (Deborah) of FL and Frances of N.M.; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Aull of Oswego; grandchildren, David (Yvonne), Adam(Jenny), Curtis, Beth, Laura, James, Daniel, Jessica (Tom), Rebecca, Sarah, Brian, Scott, Kelly and great grandchildren, Allaynie and Zachary.
Mrs. Aull is preceded in death by her husband. Hubert M., a son, Marshall and a grandchild, Eric.

Mrs. Aull resided in Lombard for 53 years. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1939 with a B.S. degree and went on to a dietetic internship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. She taught at Glenbard East High School, was a Past President of the Lombard Unit of Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, was a Board member of the Lombard Service League, served on the P.T.A. Board at Lincoln School, served on the Board of A.F.S., was a member of the Community Concert Association, was a member of United Charities of Chicago, served on the Board of Community Youth Council of Lombard, was a Director of Education at United Methodist Church, Lombard, was a member of the Lombard Historical Society, volunteered at the Lombard Food Pantry, was a Cub Scout leader in Lombard, was a vivacious and gracious hostess, a world traveler, loved square dancing and ballroom dancing, was an Antique Collector,an avid “Crimson Tide” football fan and a Symphony lover

John E. ‘Jack’ Ziemke, age 83, of Glen Ellyn, died September 28 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Visitation will be held Thursday 2 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main, Lombard.

Mr. Ziemke is survived by his wife, Shirley nee Thomas; two children, Jean “Ron’ Casper of LaGrange and Bruno (Jan) DeLeon of Ohio; two grandchildren, Andrew (Mandie) Casper and Erik Casper.

Mr.Ziemke was married 58 years to Shirley. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lombard, and was formerly of St. Cornelius Parish in Chicago and was a member of St. Cornelius’ Holy Name Society. He coached Little League Baseball and loved watching his grandson play baseball. He retired from the Chicago Police Dept. after 27 years. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and served during WWII and Korea.

William E. “Bill”, “Duke” Gray, Jr., age 51, , of Winfield died suddenly Saturday, September 25. Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday October 2 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, Saturday, October 2. Interment Private.

Mr. Gray is survived by his wife, Jeanine M. nee Shissler; his daughter, Christina (Ron) Nelson of Missouri; his grandson, Chase William Nelson of Missouri; his mother, Bonnie J. (the late William, Sr.) Gray of Indiana; his sisters: Barbara (Phil) Testa of Alsip, and Linda (Richard) Melfi of Georgia, his mother-in-law Elizabeth “Betty” (the late Punky) Shissler of Winfield, formerly of Lombard. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Gray.

Mr. Gray was in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division in the late 1970’s to 1980. He was a resident of Winfield for 23 years. He grew up in Tinley Park. He went to Tinley Park High School. He was currently attending College of DuPage. He was married for 24 years. He loved his grandson, motorcycles, and Country Music.

Katherine ‘Kay’ L. Lanis, nee Morgan, age 84, of Lombard, died

September 22, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Bloomingdale, IL.

Mrs. Lanis is preceded in death by her husband Anthony (Tom), a brother, Bill Morgan and a sister, Audrey Huber.

Mrs. Lanis was born in Pittsburgh to Winifred (Byrne) and George  Morgan. She graduated from Duquesne University and was a Registered Nurse at various hospitals and nursing homes throughout her career. She and her husband Tom, relocated to Lombard, IL. where she was a devoted member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She volunteered at church and gave much time to St. Vincent dePaul Society. She enjoyed having family gatherings and she and Tom were known for having an open house for any and all to join them for holidays.

Ann Takir, age 95 of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Elmhurst, died Wednesday, September 22, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony.

Ann passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living, where she had been living for the past six months. She was born in Hartshorne, OK and moved to Chicago when she was nine. Eventually her family moved to Cicero where she lived, worked and raised her family for the next 60 years. Before moving to Glen Ellyn, she lived for 20 years in Elmhurst. Upon retiring from Amphenol Mfg., Ann became an avid pinochle player who enjoyed helping others learn the game. She loved to read, and despite losing her vision to macular degeneration, Ann continued to enjoy reading via audio books.

Mrs. Guido is preceded in death by sisters, Rosa Olivetti, Nancy ‘Chickie’(Carmen) DeFalco of Plainfield, Rae Juliano and brothers, Joseph and John Varchetta.

Mrs. Guido was married for 66 years to Carmen J. Louise and Carmen raised their children in Berwyn where she was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Italian-American Civic Organization of Berwyn. They moved to Lombard in 1978 where they were members of Christ the King Parish until they moved to a retirement community in Lisle in 2007. She was employed by Aldens in Chicago and retired in 1975. She also worked in the Yorktown Mall in Lombard.

Henry C. Stelter Sr., age 83 of East Troy, Wisconsin, formerly 61 years of Lombard, died Sunday, September 19. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23, from 2 until 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Mr. Stelter will be lying-in-state on Friday, September 24, from 9 AM until time of funeral service at 10 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Interment will be held at Chapel Hills Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Mr. Stelter is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Betty, nee Rosenwinkel; his son, James E. (Paula) of Villa Park; his daughters, Christine (Stephen) Smith of Lombard, and Catherine (Robert) Bles of Lombard; his grandchildren, Katie Stelter of Villa Park, Andrew Smith of Lombard, Chrissy Stelter of Villa Park, Daniel James Stelter of Villa Park, and Jake Bles of Lombard; his sisters, Virginia Seiler of Lombard, Marlene Troyke of Bloomington, IN, LaVerne Smith of Lombard, Emily Bonette of CA, and Audrey (Tony) Cooper of CA; many nephews, nieces and friends; and his sisters-in-law, Marion Rosenwinkel and Irma Stelter of Lombard.
He was preceded in death by his son, Henry C., Jr.; his brother, Leonard F. (Irma), and his brother-in-laws, Richard Troyke, Roger Smith, and Gilbert (Marion) Rosenwinkel.

Mr. Stelter was born and raised in Lombard. He was a graduate of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran School in 1941, and Glenbard (West) High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War era in Europe. He built his home in Lombard, and was a retired member of the local Elmhurst Carpenter’s Union. He owned Stelter Construction, and was a former carpenter for Steuben Builders in Lombard. As a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, he was a member of the Finance Committee for the new church in 1964, and served as trustee, elder, choir member and usher. He moved to East Troy, WI in 1987 and was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He helped build the new Fellowship Hall and helped with other church remodeling. For 13 years he also drove a bus for East Troy Community School District. He was a member of American Legion Post 188 in East Troy. He was a former leader for Boy Scout Troop #57, and was an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman.

John T. Schlitt, age 66, formerly of Oak Park and Glendale Heights, died Monday, September 20, at Westmont Convalescent Center, Westmont. Funeral services and interment are private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Mr. Schlitt is survived by: his wife, Susan M., nee Jakoubek of Ohio, formerly of Lombard; his daughters, Jennifer R. Baldwin of Ohio, and Emily A. of Ohio; his son, Matthew J. of Sandwich, IL; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond (Janet) of Galena.

Mr. Schlitt was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a 7-year employee of Vickers Manufacturing. He was a member of Paralyzed Veterans.
