Jim P. Feely, age 72, of Lombard, died February 25 at The Meadows of Glen Ellyn.

Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 28 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard.

Funeral services will be Tuesday with prayers at Brust Funeral Home at 9:30AM to Sacred Heart Church for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside,IL.

Mr. Feely is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Bob) Smith of Wheaton, and Kelly Feely of West Dundee; 3 sons, Dan (Anne) of Barrington, David (Michele) of Wheaton and William (Anne Kremer) of CO;  10 grandchildren: Cody, Anthony, Alexis, Lauren, Caitlin, Sarah, Bridget, Dylan, Evangeline and Jack; 3 sisters, Mary Jane (Gerald) Reese of Oak Park, Catherine (Robert) Bosshart of Libertyville and Theresa (Bruce) Kenning of Texas and  one brother, Thomas of Somonauk, IL; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine M. nee Eckhardt.

Mr. Feely was a resident of Lombard since 1977. He was formerly of Berkeley and Glen Ellyn. He graduated from St. Mel’s High School. He retired as a Commercial Electrician with Local 134, I.B.E.W. He was active with the Sacred Heart German Fest and the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Moose.

Mrs. Mischke is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Michael) Sprague of Villa Park; her granddaughters:  Laura (Jim) Bernier of Carey, IL. and Emily (Daniel) Nelson of Plainfield, IL; soon to be great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her siblings:  Helen, Lester, Raymond and Robert.

Shirley A. Bair nee Baranek, age 65, of Lombard,died February 9 at home surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 10 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb.11, with prayers at 9:15AM at Brust Funeral Home to St. James the Apostle Church, Glen Ellyn for 10 AM  Mass.

Interment will be  Friday at Chapel Hill Garden West, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Mrs. Bair is survived by her husband Edward N. three sons, Steven (Maureen) of Glen Ellyn, Michael (Becky) of Hudson, IL and Christopher (Laura) of Glen Ellyn; 7 grandchildren, Billy, Charlie, Maggie, James, Andrew, Eddie and Sammy; a sister, Lorraine (Lou) Moe of Hanover Park;

and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Sam Battaglia age 84 of Lombard,

Sam Battaglia age 84 of Lombard, died February 8, at Manor Care in Hinsdale.  Visitation will be Friday, February 11, from 10 a.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard,  until time of funeral mass at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Lombard.  Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Mr. Battaglia is survived by his daughter of Patricia (Daniel) McCrery of Michigan; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brother: Thomas Jr. (Arlene) of Riverside;   his sister in law Nancy of Darien; his nephews:  Kenneth (Linda) Peterson of Glen Ellyn and Dennis (Denise) Peterson of Wheaton; and many other nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia nee Linder; his sister Annette Peterson; and his  brother Joseph.

Mr. Battaglia had been a resident of Lombard since 1966.  He retired from Western Electric after 42 years.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II, occupation of Japan.  He was a member of the VFW and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  He had graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ the King Church appreciated.

Ferol M. Gilliland, age 90, of Lombard,

Ferol M. Gilliland, age 90, of Lombard, passed away February 7th,

Ms. Gilliland  will be lying-in-state Saturday, Feb. 12 from 9:30AM until time of service 10:30AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Grace & Madison, Lombard.

Interment will be Saturday , February 12, at the 1st Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip, IL.

Ms. Gilliland was born in Oak Park, IL on May 17, 1920.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Johanna Gilliland nee Amelung, and a sister, Betty Jean. She is survived by many cousins and friends. She was a resident of Lombard since 1963 and spent her last few years in Lexington Square, Lombard. Ms. Gilliland was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bible Study classes, the Altar Guild, and as a worker in the Church Library.

Ms. Gilliland, a Registered Radiologic Technologist, held membership in two professional groups, The Illinois State and The American Society of Radiologic Technologists. She served as an officer of the state society and on several committees of the National Society. In 1973, she received the DuPont Service Award for Continuous Dedicated Service in Promoting Radiologic Technology in District Two of the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists. Ms. Gilliland had a forty-four year career as a medical laboratory and radiologic technologist in a supervisory capacity.  She divided employment years equally between the former Joslyn Clinic of Maywood, IL., and the offices of Meyer, Meyer and Albers in Lombard, retiring from the latter in 1985.

She was a member of the Lutheran Womans League of Chicago, The Auxiliary of the West Suburban Society for the Retarded and the Friends of the Library, Lombard. She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church for 48 years in LaGrange, IL.  She graduated from Blue Community High School in 1939.

Memorials would be appreciated to a favorite charity.

Daniel R. Lilly, age 46 of Bensenville, died February 4, at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, from 3 until 8 PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 9, at 11 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home.  Interment will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst.

Daniel is survived by:  his daughters, Ashley Lilly of Wood River, and Misty Lilly of Alton, IL; his brother Thomas (Cheryl) of Hawthorn Woods; his father, James (Jeanette) of Arkansas; his grandchildren, Jordan Lee Baker of Wood River, Serenity McMillian of Alton, and Landon Jacob Baker of Wood River; his nephew, Ryan Lilly of Hawthorn Woods; his niece,  Marin Lilly of Hawthorn Woods; his step-father, Terry Clark of Carpentersville; his former wife, Marci J. Lilly of Wood River; and his aunts, Betty (Jack) Kaup of CA, and Irene (Russ) Carpenter of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Clark, and his brother, James Lilly.

Daniel grew up in Leyden Township/Villa Park/Northlake area.  He graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1982.  He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served as an M1 Tank Driver between 1983-1985.  He was a Carpenter. He was an artist and a storyteller.  He loved to read and loved animals.

Norman E. Kern Sr., 73, of Bartlett, formerly of Chicago, died Friday, February 4th at Alden Valley Ridge nursing home in Glendale Heights.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9th from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Funeral Thursday, February 10th at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in River Grove.

Mr. Kern is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane (nee Ruehl); his daughter, Judi; his sons, Norman Jr. (MaryBeth) and Michael (Judy); his grandchildren Natalie (Gregory) Shasteen, Michael, and Lorraine; his sister, Mary Scigliano of Des Moines; his brother-in-law Robert (Nora) Ruehl and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Neeley and Helen (nee Dalton); and brothers Raymond, Richard, and Fred.

Mr. Kern grew up in Des Moines, IA. He was an Air Force veteran who was first introduced to Chicago when he was stationed at O’Hare Field. He was a hard worker, and was fond of any card game. He enjoyed being the eyes of his neighborhood, earning the nickname “The Sidewalk Superintendent”, and took advantage of any opportunity where he could make someone laugh.

Robert J. Watson, age 55, of Wheaton

Robert J. Watson, age 55, of Wheaton, died February 5 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Eileen nee McCue; his daughters, Courtney (Kevin) Perna and Shannon; his grandson, Andrew John; his sisters, Marilou and Cindi Jacobs and many other family and friends.

Mr. Watson grew up in Lombard.  He was married for 28 years.  His passion was basketball.  He refereed high school basketball for over 25 years.  He belonged to many different IHSA Basketball Associations.  He loved watching his children play sports, especially basketball.

ALICE D. KURZEJA, nee Razniewski, age 92 of Villa Park, died February 3rd at Central DuPage Hospital.  Visitation will be Sunday, February 6, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.  Funeral will be Monday, February 7, with 11 a.m. prayers at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, and a 11:30 a.m. mass at St. Alexander Catholic Church in Villa Park.  Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.

Mrs. Kurzeja is survived by her children:  Kenneth C. (Pauline) of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; Carol A. (David) Sims of Grosse Ile, MI; Robert J. (Carolyn) of Aiken, SC; Paul L. (Jacqueline) of Oak Park; and Matthew T. (Zoriana) of Wheaton; her grandchildren:  Julia Sims, Michael A. (Kelli) Sims, Melissa (P.J.) McConnell; and Stephanie Kurzeja; her great granddaughter:  Evelyn McConnell;  her brother Thomas (Sophie) Razniewski of Oak Park; and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Louis R., and her siblings: Edward (Georgiana) and Chester (Roseann).
