Dan Robert Appelt, age 52

Dan Robert Appelt, 52, died suddenly and unexpectantly on June 7th, 2012, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, with family and friends by his side.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 14 at 1:00 PM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 527 North Main Street, Lombard.
Private Interment for the immediate family will be held Friday, June 15 at Evergreen Cemetery, Algoma, Wisconsin.

Dan was born on December 15, 1959, in Oak Park, Illinois, the third of James and Mary (Holstein) Appelt’s four sons.

Dan was a dedicated Wisconsin Badger and Chicago Blackhawk fan, train enthusiast, and symphony orchestra patron. He had a love of four-wheeling in his Jeep through mud or snow, camping with family in all conditions, skeet shooting with the guys, was skilled on the ice and enjoyed time on his parent’s farm in Door County, Wisconsin. Dan had a large presence with a strong stature, always up for a spirited debate yet he was known for his grand bear hugs and his huge heart.

Dan graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1978. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison earning a Bachelors degree in Soil Science. He began his environmental career as a Resource Conservationist at McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation District. His expertise served him well at Safety-Kleen Corporation where he worked for nearly 23 years in the field of environmental compliance with his most recent position as Director of Environmental Health and Safety Process Facility Compliance.

He leaves here on earth many family members and dear friends including: daughter, Elizabeth; parents, James and Mary; brothers Paul (Katherine), David and Thomas; loving and devoted partner of over 11 years, Pat Bartodziej, her children, Olivia and Jena, and extended family.

MARGARET M. JOERGER nee Pomierski, age 88 of Norridge, formerly of Lombard and Park Ridge, passed away June 8 at Clare Oaks Nursing Home in Bartlett. Visitation will be June 14, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. on June 15 at Clare Oaks, 825 Carillon Drive, Bartlett. Interment will be private at Mary Hill Cemetery in Niles, IL.

Mrs. Joerger is survived by her children: Lana (John) Pappas of Park Ridge, Jim D., II (Teresa) of Dallas, TX, Don of Norridge and Donna (Dave) Dickens of Lombard; her grandchildren: Lisa (Mark) Lagina of Bartlett, James, III (Roxanna) of FL, Nicole (Michael) Huefner of FL, Stephen Joerger of FL, William Joerger of FL, Adam (Kate) Dickens of Villa Park, and Amy Dickens of Lombard; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband James D., and nine brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Joerger was a homemaker who loved word search, Chicago Cubs, coffee, and babysitting for her grandchildren.

ATTILA JOE CZIRAKY, age 66, of Lombard

ATTILA JOE CZIRAKY, age 66, of Lombard, died June 6 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 11 with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to time of service at 12:30 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois on Monday at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Cziraky is survived by two sons, Christopher and Michael Cziraky; three grandchildren; two brothers; and his ex-wife, Ursula nee Watson.

Mr. Cziraky was born in Osterhofen, Germany on January 3, 1946. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Cziraky became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America on February 18, 1969. He earned his 2-year degree of Associate in Applied Science from the College of DuPage in 1975. Mr. Cziraky was married to Ursula Watson in 1970 and they divorced in 2002. He was a good son, husband, and father. Mr. Cziraky had a heating business for many years. He always treated his customer’s fairly and would often perform services for next to nothing if he perceived any financial problems of the customer. He was a good provider and his family lived in a nice home in Wheaton and went all through school in the same district. Mr. Cziraky enjoyed family outings and loved to play chess and board games, especially with the kids.
Mr. Cziraky suffered a heart attack in 1994 and was never the same man after that. Depression took over his interest in his work and appearance. As his depression increased, seizures also began to be a part of his life. He will be missed.

STEVEN A. CORNING, age 56, of Gurnee, died June 4, at his home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7 from 4 to 8 pm at Brust Funeral

Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 8, at 10am at Brust Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mr. Corning is survived by his father and mother, Al and Bea of Lombard; his

brothers Paul (Jolene) of Naperville, Bob (Nickie) of Prospect Heights; his sister

Cheryl (George) Robillard of Wisconsin; and 7 nieces and nephews

Mr. Corning enjoyed art, painting, sculptures and pottery. He received his Masters Degree from Lake Forest College and helped teach Art classes there as well. Mr. Corning studied Advance Mathematics. He loved to read. He worked for Abbott Labs for 23 years and then worked at Hospira. Mr. Corning adored his nieces and nephews.

Bruno Baltruweit, age 85, of Lombard

BRUNO BALTRUWEIT, age 85, of Lombard, died June 3 at his home.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7 from 4 to 8 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 8 with prayers at 9 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Christ The King Church, Lombard, for 9:30 AM Mass.

Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mr. Baltruweit is survived by his wife, Marie R., nee Husch; his daughter, Trudy (Tom) Burke of Garland, Texas; his son, Raymond (Racquel) of Lockport; five (5) grandchildren, Tommy (Kristine) Burke of Garland, Texas, Ryan Burke of Dallas, Texas, Kristin (Mark) McElroy of Grapevine, Texas, Jacqueline Burke of Garland, Texas, and Maximilian Baltruweit of Lockport; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Brandon McElroy; two sisters, Hilda of Germany, and Clara of Canada; his brother, Gerhard of Ft. Meyers, Florida; and many other relatives.

Mr. Baltruweit if preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Beno, and Reinholdt; and his sister, Anna.

Mr. Baltruweit was a resident of Lombard since 1966.  He retired in 1992 as a Machinist from Arrow/Gear Company in Downers Grove.

 

Vernon A. Hoffswell, Jr., age 74, of Lombard

VERNON A. HOFFSWELL, JR., age 74, of Lombard, died June 2 at Wood Glen Pavilion, West Chicago, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5 from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 6 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for a 10 AM Mass.

Interment Private at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mr. Hoffswell is survived by his son, Michael A. (Julia) of Winfield, two daughters, Diane L. (George) Wall of Texas, and Ann Marie (Gary) Harris of Downers Grove; ten (10) grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth M. (Rose Ann) of Westmont; two sisters, Nancy M. (Robert) Manna of Lombard, and Geraldine L. (Ron) Ridley of Texas; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Dolores Burnett.

Mr. Hoffswell is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon A., Sr. and Mary M., nee Hennessy.

Mr. Hoffswell was a resident of Lombard 47 years and was a former Lombard Fire Department Volunteer.  He was born June 12, 1937 in Chicago and went to his heavenly home on his parents’ wedding anniversary, June 2, 2012.  Mr. Hoffswell was a child of God, a blessing to all that knew him and the sweetest man in the world.

Lloyd Scott, age 89, of Addison

LLOYD SCOTT, age 89, of Addison, died May 31 at DuPage Convalescent Center, Wheaton, Illinois.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 7th at 6:00 pm at Grace Bible Church, Elmhurst, Illinois.
Interment Private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.

Mr. Scott is survived by five children, M. Lynn Payne (Warren Wollschlager) of Madison, Minnesota, Cheryl A. (George) Yapp of Mokena, Illinois, Debra M. (Darrell) Overbey of Adairsville, Georgia, David L. Scott of Addison, and Loydeen S. (Russell) Reichman of Glen Ellyn; ten (10) grandchildren, Jon, Christine, Tammy-Lyn, Carrie, Brenda, Tiffany, Rusty, Rachael, Daniel, and Abigail; nine (9) great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irma Pygman of Minnesota, and Leone (Harold) Peterson of Minnesota; and his special friend, Ginger.

Mr. Scott is preceded in death by his wife, Millie, nee Cvitichanin; and his parents, George Washington and Esther Clara, nee Seller, Scott.

Mr. Scott was a resident of Addison for 9 years and was formerly of Elmhurst 44 years. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Scott had worked for Al’s Sheet Metal in Chicago for 27 years. He was a member of Union Local #73. Mr. Scott was a member of the Moose.
