COLIN YOUNG GORDON, age 85, formerly of Lombard

COLIN YOUNG GORDON, age 85, formerly of Lombard and Glen Ellyn, died peacefully on August 30, 2012. He was a man full of grace.

A memorial service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, in Glen Ellyn, on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

Mr. Gordon is survived by three children, Donna (Harry) Gordon Wallace, William Colin Gordon and Karen Gordon; his grandchildren Camille Wallace and Amber Matthew; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rose Gordon;
his twin brother Robert, his loving older sister Betty; and his wonderful older brother Forest.

Mr. Gordon was born in Chicago, Illinois. As a young man, he served our country first in the US Navy, in the Asiatic Pacific, receiving a World War II Victory Medal. He later served proudly in the US Air Force.

Mr .Gordon was a pipe fitter for 35 years. He was an integral part in building many fine institutions in and around the Chicago land area and throughout the State of Illinois.

Mr. Gordon made his home in Lombard, then Glen Ellyn, Il and retired to reside in Rancho Bernado, CA.

Mr. Gordon had the best sense of humor. He was a generous, kind and brilliant man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, tennis, playing bridge, and playing pool. Mr. Gordon loved square dancing. Dogs adored him and it was a mutual feeling.

He will be loved and missed by all those who knew him. Dad, you will live in all of our hearts.

Robert P. Troy, age 75, of Lombard, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 25 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10AM on Friday, September 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish, 114 S. Elizabeth St. Lombard.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, of 52 years, Delores; his 3 children, Lynn, Sean (Molly) and Scott; 2 grandchildren, Allison and Nathan; his brother, Bernie (Maria) and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born in Chicago and lived in Lombard for over 40 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, boating; working on projects around his home; was an avid history buff; and loved spending time with his family.

MARLENE V. RENCH nee Lindsay, age 78, of Lombard, died September 23 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 3-8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.

Mrs. Rench is survived by her husband, Ronald J.; her 4 children, Laura Birnbaum of Villa Park, Scott (Terri) of Lombard, Kevin (Jennifer) of Wheaton and David of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Napoli of Naperville, Stephanie(Doug) Kouri of Lake in the Hills, Samantha Birnbaum of Villa Park, Riley Rench of Lombard, Jake Rench of Lombard, Anna Rench of Wheaton, Elizabeth Rench of Wheaton and Nora Rench of Wheaton; a sister, Yvonne Hinchee of Oklahoma; and 3 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rench was a resident of Lombard for 78 years. She attended Lincoln School and was a 1952 graduate of Glenbard High School; she was Chairman of the Class of 1952 Reunion Committee. She was a homemaker, a telephone operator, a great listener, a better talker, a loyal friend, a consoler, a coupon cutter, a horseback rider, a hometown girl, a weather watcher, a holiday enthusiast, your toughest critic but your biggest supporter, a great cook, an unregistered nurse, the best Santa’s elf ever, a newsaholic, a reader, a rock, a softie, a lifelong learner and a life long teacher. Mrs. Rench was a former Lilac Princess. She was a member of the Lombard Historical Society, the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 391, and a former Illinois Job Daughter. She was a seasonal resident of Gold Canyon, Arizona.

John F. Bickford, age 95, of Villa Park

JOHN FRANKLIN BICKFORD, age 95, resident of Villa Park since 1943 and Owner of Wee Hour Printing, died peacefully, Friday, September 14 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 24 from 4 to 8 PM at the Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 South Princeton, Villa Park.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 25 at 10 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mr. Bickford is survived by his son, Edwin; his daughter, Faylene Quinn; eight (8) grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Bickford is preceded in death by his wife, Oma; and his son, Johnnye.

Mr. Bickford was a resident of Villa Park for 69 years. He was the Owner of Wee Hour Printing.

Geraldine Emma Louise (nee Rollberg) Smith

Geraldine Smith, age 86, of Lombard IL, died peacefully in her home, Friday, September 14, 2012.

Geraldine (Gerry) Smith was born in the Hyde Park Neighborhood of Chicago on March 30, 1926. She was the youngest of twelve children. She attended Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Grade School and Hyde Park High School. She married her childhood friend and neighbor Charles Marshall Smith on May 10, 1947. They were married 63 years before Charles passed away on July, 21, 2010.

Mrs. Smith is survived by their eight children: Charles Douglas Smith/Daniel O. Sullivan (Lombard), Alyce Marie/Mark Croger ( Newark IL), Jeanne Marie Smith (Chicago, IL), Helen Marie/Richard Webster ( Villa Park, IL), Sheila Marie/Jim Goff (Elgin, IL), Paul Joseph Smith/Kim Weirhle (Romeoville IL), John Charles Smith/Linda Troyke ( Glen Ellyn IL) and Adam Marshall Smith/Debbie Phalen (Plainfield IL), their 16 grandchildren: Rob/Kelly, Laura, Jennifer/Marc, Eric/Elizabeth, Billy, John/Jamie, April/Brian, Jimmy, Eric/Sara, Andrew, Adam, A. J., Abby, Jake/Colleen, Tonie, and Cassie, and their 19 great grandchildren: Caden, Kyla, Grayson, Alexandra, Max, Gianna, Erin, Gabrielle, Lauren, Lexie, John David Xavier, Brody, Presley, Chase, Darien, Logan, Lucas, Elizabeth, and Braden.

She and Mr. Smith moved to Lombard, Illinois in 1953. They were founding members of the St. Pius X Catholic Church where Mrs. Smith was an early member of the church choir, a CCD teacher, a teacher in the motor-perception program at the grade school, and a Cub Scout den mother. In her spare time she liked to knit and crochet.

EVELYN O. BERG, nee Olson, age 98, of Lombard, died September 13 at Lexington Health Care, Lombard, Illinois.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. October 3, 2012 at Lexington Square Lombard. 555 Foxworth Blvd.

Mrs. Berg is survived by her son, Fred (Carol Richard) of Madison, Wisconsin; two daughters, Christine Robinson of Lombard, and Carol (Merritt) Cook of Lombard; six grandchildren, Peter (Barb) Robinson, Amy Conie, Jennifer (Doug) Rubingh, Katherine (Shane) O’Connor, Meredith Pick, and Betsy (Chris) Leach; her grand-daughter-in-law, Kathy Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Berg is preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Robinson and her husband, Rolf H.

Joanna was a 25-year Lombard resident and long-time employee of Advocate Home Healthcare, Joanna was born May 30, 1950 to Julia (nee D’Angelo) and Frank LaRocca, in Niagara Falls, NY.

She is survived by her husband Paul, son Zachary, sister Janice (Robert) Hoch. Beloved sister-in-law of Jean (Ken) Snead, Nancy (Jim) Krawczykowski, Brian (Michelle) Iwinski. Beloved aunt of David Snead, Vanessa (Mike) O’Malley nee Snead; Eric and Ashley Hoch; Tessa and Dean Krawczykowski; Katie, Cal, Lauren Iwinski. Beloved cousin and niece to many in Niagara Falls/Buffalo, NY area. She will be missed for her insight, wit and loving ways.

Margaret Nora Thompson, 85, of Villa Park

Margaret Nora Thompson, 85, of Villa Park passed away at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
The family will be holding a memorial service at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
She was born August 17, 1927 in her home, Lombard to Fredrick and Mary Kleinedler.
Surviving are three sons; Richard (Karen) Anderson of Seward NE, Steve (Kathy) Anderson of Paw Paw, IL, Dave Thompson of Villa Park, IL; one daughter Cathy Flynn of Troy Grove, IL; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers; Walter, James and Marvin Kleinedler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Fredrick, Bernard and Irv Kleinedler; and one sister; Mary Shoemacher.
She worked in a munitions plant supporting WWII, the Ovaltine Corporation in Villa Park and was also self-employed. She lived her entire life in the Lombard/Villa Park area. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was loved very much by many.

Shirley Lucille Cramer, age 80

SHIRLEY LUCILLE CRAMER, age 80, of Foley, Missouri, formerly of Lombard/Glen Ellyn, died Saturday, September 8 in Missouri.

Visitation was held Tuesday, September 11 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield, Missouri.
Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 13, with Visitation from 10 AM until the time of Service at 1 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard, with Rev. Dan Wegrzyn of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mrs. Cramer is survived by her brother, Warren (Judy) Muzzey of Foley, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Cramer is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Victor Cramer; her parents, Percy and Elsie Muzzey; five brothers, LaVerne ‘Bud’ Muzzey, Wilbert ‘Wib’ Muzzey, Percy L. ‘Jr.’ Muzzey, Kenneth Muzzey and Howard Muzzey; and one sister, Bernice Clark.

Mrs. Cramer was born May 6, 1932 in Elmhurst, Illinois. She was united in marriage on November 20, 1954 in Glen Ellyn to Victor Herbert Cramer. Mrs. Cramer was employed for a number of years as a teller and new accounts representative at Lombard State Bank in Lombard. She had moved from Gainesville, Florida to the Foley, Missouri area in 2004 to be near her brother and she had attended the Foley Baptist Church.

Darlene E Fromer, nee Meuret, age 70, long time resident of Lombard, Illinois, passed away Sept 6th, 2012 at home. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 8th from 11 am – 3 pm at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard, Illinois.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Phil Fromer, her son Steve (Janet) Deike of Streamwood her daughter Linda Deike of Lombard, Step sons Ernie (Charlotte) of Villa Park, and Philip (Sheila) of Lombard, eight adoring grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, Brothers Al (Cheryl) Meuret, and Trennor (Dennis) Meuret, Sisters Linda (Bill) Macak, and Roxanne Denny as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by sons Gregory and Michael.

Born in Chicago, Illinois she moved to Lombard in 1979 and married Phil Fromer in 1988. She was a Baker at Jewel Food Stores in Lombard for 11 years. She always wore a smile, always took care of everyone and adored her family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
