Gerald ‘Grif’ Griffin, age 67, of Lombard

GERALD ‘GRIF’ GRIFFIN, age 67, of Lombard died October 30 at Northwestern Community Hospital, Chicago, Illinois.

Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. at LaTosca Restaurant, 123 East St. Charles Road, Villa Park, Illinois.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Jean, nee Leali; his son, Chris (Sherry) of Nevada; two step-children, Jennifer and Adam (Christina); two grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah; six brothers and sisters, Rita (Jim) Kinney of California, Thomas Patrick Griffin of Winfield, Kathy (Jerry) Haggerty of Westmont, Patty A. (Chuck) Heery of Georgia, Margaret “Peggy” Griffin of Lombard, and Mary Ann (Kurt) Wilson of Orland Park; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Colleen Leali of Lombard; and many other relatives.

Mr. Griffin is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen J.

Mr. Griffin was a resident of Lombard 29 years.  He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Reserve.  Mr. Griffin was a former Vice President and Computer Programmer for First Penn Pacific.

Irma E. Mesner, nee Wagner, age 90, of Wildwood, formerly of Lombard

IRMA E. MESNER, nee Wagner, age 90, of Wildwood, formerly of Lombard, died October 30 at Condell Hospital.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 1st from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 2 with Mrs. Mesner Lying-In-State from 9:30 AM to the time of Service at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, 215 South Lincoln, Lombard.

Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mrs. Mesner is survived by three children, Susan M. Mesner of Georgia, Rudolph (Gay) of Addison, and Jane C. Mesner of Wildwood; her adored granddaughter, Tracy of Lombard; 10 nieces and nephews; many friends; and many other relatives.

Mrs. Mesner is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O.; and her sister, Elaine Kowalczyk of Evanston.

Mrs. Mesner was a resident of Wildwood for 6 years and was formerly of Lombard from 1950 to 2006.    She was born in Buckley, Illinois to Arthur and Meta Wagner.  Mrs. Mesner was a graduate of St. John’s Lutheran School in Buckley and a 1940 graduate of Buckley High School.  She married Clarence O. Mesner on September 17, 1949 and they moved to Lombard in 1950 where she resided for 56 years.  She had been a Postal Clerk for the Lombard Post Office for 25 years, retiring in 1987.  Mrs. Mesner was a member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church in Lombard.  In August of 2012, Irma celebrated her 90th birthday with family, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.  Irma loved her family and friends.  She loved to read and was an avid card player to the end.

ANTHONY “JIM” J. MAZUR, JR., age 81 of Lombard

ANTHONY “JIM” J. MAZUR, JR., age 81 of Lombard, died October 27, at Loyola Medical Center.  Visitation will be Monday, October 30, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard.  Funeral will be Tuesday, October 30, lying in state from 9:30 a.m. to time of funeral at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Lombard.  Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.

Mr. Mazur is survived by his son Gary (Joann), his grandson Zachary; his nephews Randy (Cathy) Methling  and Richard Methling; and his niece Kathy (Ted) Korth.  He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Kathryn Mazur and his sister Sylvia (the late Erv) Methling.

Mr. Mazur was the owner of Southwest Appliance on Main Street in Lombard for over 33 years.  It started in Cicero and moved to Lombard in 1971, closing in 1997.  He was a former member of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce.  He grew up in Chicago and was formerly of Oak Brook.  He had been a resident of Lombard for ten years.  He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Finn R. Warland, age84, of Lombard, WWII Army Veteran

FINN R. WARLAND, age 84, of Lombard, World War II Veteran, died October 25 at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 28 from 2 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 29 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for a 10 AM Mass.
Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mr. Warland is survived by his wife, Rosemary R., nee Pellegrino; four (4) sons, three (3) daughter-in-laws; three (3) grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Warland is preceded in death by one brother.

Mr. Warland was a 29-year retired employee of Sears. He was a Veteran, having served in the Army and enlisted twice during World War II and Korea as a Medic. Mr. Warland was a member of Lombard VFW #5815. He was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish in Lombard.

Nancy J. O’Connor, age 73, of Hoffman Estates

NANCY J. O’CONNOR, age 73, of Hoffman Estates died October 23.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Ms. O’Connor is survived by her sister, Kristine Ruge of Winfield; her niece, Kourtney (DuPage County Sheriff Deputy Ryan) Culver of Winfield; her nephew, Mark, A.H.P.D. (Jane) Ruge of Glen Ellyn; six great nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend, Marilyn Hilberg of Algonquin.
Ms. O’Connor is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, C.F.D. and Margaret, nee Murray and her dear friend, Sister M. Jeremy R.S.M.

Ms. O’Connor grew up in Chicago & Oak Park and was a graduate of Siena High School in Chicago. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from St. Xavier University, attended Notre Dame, and received her Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University. Ms. O’Connor had retired in 2007. She was a Teacher and Catholic School Principal and Administrator with the Chicago Archdiocese. She was a former Religious Sister of Mercy. She served twice at Queen of Martyrs School in Chicago and many other schools in the Chicago and Rockford Dioceses.

Memorials to Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago or Boston Terrier Rescue would be appreciated.

Eleanor M. Tabbert, age 87, of Texas, formerly of Villa Park

ELEANOR M. TABBERT, age 87, formerly of Villa Park, died October 19 in Texas.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 25 with Visitation from9:30 AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:30 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 South Princeton, Villa Park.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Ms. Tabbert is survived by her sister, Joan Benson of Texas; her nieces, Darlene (Mike) Tortorillo of Oakbrook Terrace; and her nephews, Richard (Marilyn) Zbilski of Texas and Gary (Gari) Zbilski of Nevada.
Ms. Tabbert is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Nance Tabbert of Villa Park; and her sister, Nancy Straff.

Ms. Tabbert grew-up in Villa Park and was a resident of Villa Park for 80 years. She was a graduate of York High School. Ms. Tabbert was retired from the U.S. Government as a Secretary. She had moved to Texas seven years ago.

BETH TABOR, nee Wilczenski, age 59, of Glendale Heights

Beth Tabor, nee Wilczenski, age 59 of Glendale Heights, died suddenly on Friday, October 19, at home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, from 3 until 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, with 9:45 AM prayers at Brust Funeral Home, to St. Matthew Church, Glendale Heights, for a 10:30 AM Mass. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, IL.

Mrs. Tabor is survived by: her sister-in-law, Elaine H. Tabor of Lombard; her step-daughter, Amber C of Arizona.; her sister, Deborah Carson of Wisconsin; her special sister, Debbie (Bob) Jungels of Addison; her nieces, Stacy and Kelsey; her nephews, William and Ryan; her cousin, Joyce (Don) Fiske of Schaumburg; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny J.

Mrs. Tabor grew up in Lombard until 1983 when she moved to Glendale Heights. She graduated from Schafer School and Willowbrook H.S., and attended Illinois State University. She worked for Chicago Blower as a Programmer in Engineering for 25 years. She was a Eucharist minister at St. Matthew Church, and taught crochet there. She made rosaries at church every Tuesday.

Lois F Papacek, originally of Melrose Park, IL.

Lois F Papacek originally of Melrose Park, IL, died on October 18th, in Lombard IL where she was most recently residing. After a long career as an executive personal assistant at Amphenol in Cicero, she and her husband of 35 yrs, George, retired to Deerfield FL to enjoy golf and the company of friends. She was an avid animal lover, a good cook, and a devoted partner. She is survived by her loving husband George, step-son Lawrence, and 3 grandsons: Timothy (Amanda), Jeffery (Jennifer), and Brian (Alaina); and one granddaughter, Elizabeth. Her brother Glenn Batty, step-son Alan Papacek, and grandson Peter Papacek preceded her in death. Visitation Saturday 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12 Noon at Brust Funeral Home 135 S. Main St. Lombard. Interment Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

RUSSELL G. WRIGHT, age 71, of Traverse City, Michigan, died suddenly October 15 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, Illinois.

Arrangements are pending at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Mr. Wright is survived by three children, Virginia (Murad) Erguven of Lombard, Robert (Susan) Wright of Northville, Michigan, and Terri Green of White Lake, Michigan; nine (9) Grandchildren, Shannon Wright of Northville, Michigan, Robert, II (Bianca) Wright of Northville, Michigan, Hannah (Adam) Tomaszewski of Taylor, Michigan, Christopher Farraj of Troy, Michigan, Serra Erguven of Lombard, Andrea Erguven of Lombard, Austin Wright of Rochester, Brandon Wright of Rochester, Michigan, and Cameron Wright of Rochester, Michigan; and one great-grandchild, Riley David Post of Northville, Michigan.

Mr. Wright is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, nee Hunn; and his brother, Rev. James B. Wright.

Mr. Wright was a resident of Traverse City, Michigan and was formerly of Troy, Michigan.  He grew up in Farmington, Michigan.  Mr. Wright had worked for IBM for 30 years, retiring in 1996.  Mr. Wright was a member of the Elks Club in Traverse City.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 17 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home, to St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, Villa Park for 10 AM Mass.  Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Mr. Arient is survived by his wife, Nancy Lynn, nee Horner; two daughters, Kelly Arient Schmit, and Alissa Arient Gemske; four grandchildren, Jacob, Chloe, Alex and Molly; his mother, Margaret Arient, nee Beattie; two sisters, Nancy Arient, and Patti Arient Proffitt; his brother, Scott Arient; 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
