Dr. Carol R. Meyer MD nee Rehder, age 87, of Lombard, died November 30 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 8PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135
S.Main St. Lombard.
Dr. Meyer will be lying-in-state Tuesday from 9:30AM until time of service 10:30AM at the First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St. Lombard.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace,IL

Dr. Meyer is survived by her husband, Dr. Morgan M. Meyer MD, four sons, Dr. Paul MD (Pamela) of Lombard, Rev. Mark D. of CO, Pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, Canon City, CO., Steven J. (Maureen) of Lincolnshire & Daniel J. (Mary) of Wheaton, seven grandchildren, Jessica (Tonya) Meyer of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (Ann) of Wheaton, Matthew Meyer of Austin, TX, Logan Meyer of Wheaton, Morgan Meyer of Lincolnshire, Allison Meyer of Lincolnshire and Jack Meyer of Lincolnshire, one great-grandchild, Liam Meyer of Wheaton; a brother, Dr. Robert (Irene Thurston) Rehder PhD of New Mexico and the late Frederick Rehder, Charlotte Thoreson; brother-in-law, Bruce (the late Barbara) Sublette of Plainfield and Bernice (the late Harold) Meyer of Montana and many other relatives.
Dr. Carol Meyer was a resident of Lombard from 1952 to 1992, Glen Ellyn from 1992 to 2010 and Lombard from 2010 to 2012. She was born in Chicago and graduated from Calumet High School and Morgan Park Jr. College. She received her BS at Northwestern University in 1944.She married her husband in 1948. She graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago Medical School in 1949. Dr. Meyer practiced in Lombard from 1952 until she retired in 2000 Dr. Carol Meyer treated thousands of Lombard children and was much loved.. She was a co-founder of Meyer, Meyer & Albers Medical Group. She was also one of the founders of DuPage Medical Group (when her practice merged with others). She was a member of the DuPage County Medical Society. Dr. Meyer was a member of First Church of Lombard where she volunteered for many years with First Things First Infant Needs Program.

VIRGINIA A. BENOIT SHANKER, nee Richardson, age 84, of Lombard, died November 29.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 4 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home , 135 S. Main St, Lombard. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 5 at 11:00 AM at Brust Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shanker is survived by two daughters, Mary A. (Bill) White of Paw Paw,
Illinois and Gloria Townsend of Sarasota, Florida, seven grandchildren, Edward
(Traci) White, Denise (Doug) Heise, Jennifer (Marty), Romano, Elizabeth Hoshell,
Steven Hoshell, Kevin Townsend, and Robert Townsend. Great-grandmother of
five.
Mrs. Shanker was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Benoit.
Mrs. Shanker was a Lombard resident for over 35 years. She was the past
20 year president of Point West Condominuims, where she had many dear
friends.

Barbara E. Jonas, of Lombard.

Barbara E. Jonas of Lombard passed away on Friday Nov.23rd surrounded by her family after a long battle with breast cancer. Barbara was born in Mt. Carroll IL. to Dorothy Sack, and Gerald Ritenour in September of 1936. She lived in Bensenville as a young girl, and settled in Lombard after her marriage to Ernie to raise a family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ernie Jonas; daughter, Jerriann Ross; and son, Steven Jonas. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Chrissy, Daniel, and Rachel Jonas; and Jason Ross. Barbara was also very close with her sisters: Norma VandeMerkt, and Diane Todderud. She was preceded in passing by her loving parents, in-laws and nephew.
Barbara worked for 25 yrs. for Dist. 44 as a Special Ed. Teach. Assist., and Librarian. She was known as a pillar of strength to others with breast cancer in the Elmhurst Hospital Support Group; and was also active in her church Alpha Group. She always had a smile, and will be missed by many.
Visitation Tuesday 4-9 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 So. Main St., Lombard. Lying in State Wednesday 10 am until time of Funeral Service at 11am at Community Presbyterian Church 1111 E. JEAN E. ALVIS nee Hillberg, age 86, of Wheaton,

JEAN E. ALVIS nee Hillberg, age 86, of Wheaton, died suddenly November 22.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 26 from 6 PM until a remembrance service at  7:45 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.  A private family graveside service will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside.

Mrs. Alvis is survived by her four daughters, Susan (Raymond) Gillespie of DeKalb, Elizabeth A. Magnier of Warrenville, Karen L. (Michael) Joyce of Wheaton and Christina J. of Wheaton; her two sons, Robert Y. (Margaret) of Glen Ellyn, and Jeffrey A. (Andrea) of Wheaton.  Her granddaughters, Lindsay (Brandon) Cochrane of Wheaton, Lauren (Chase) Purdom of Chicago, Katherine Alvis of Chicago, Jordan Alvis of Dallas, TX and Hannah Joyce of Wheaton; her grandsons, Charles Trumbower of DeKalb, Steven Gillespie of DeKalb, Kristopher Gillespie of DeKalb, Michael Joyce of Wheaton, Kyle Joyce of Wheaton, and Bobby Magnier of Wheaton; her great grandson Evan Cochrane of Wheaton.

Mrs. Alvis was preceeded in death by her husband Robert N.

Mrs. Alvis lived in Wheaton for 59 years since 1954.  She was formerly a member of Cress Creek Country Club.  Mrs. Alvis was a Pi Beta Phi sorority member and a 1946 graduate of Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Science degree.  She was a former board member of Community Nursing Service in Carol Stream.

Mrs. Alvis was a proud Swede.  She was a bowler, knitter, and great cook and baker.  She enjoyed her VW convertible with the license plate “How Swede it is.”  She was a “Mod” grandma and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by four children, Marge Towler, Charlie (Janet), Liz (Larry) Hunka, and Ethel Fearnow; her son-in-law, Warren Keclik; her daughter-in-law, Susan; many Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. her sons Thomas and Richard, her daughter Lois Keclik, and her son-in-law, Lou Fearnow.

DOROTHY A. FISCHER nee Triebes , age 91, of Lombard, died November 17 at Lexington Health Care Center, Lombard, Illinois.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 21, Lying-in-State from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lombard. Interment will be at Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside.

Mrs. Fischer is survived by three sons, William C. (Diane) of South Dakota, Robert G. (Josefina) of Palatine, and John P. (Caryn) of Carol Stream; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Rojek, James (Ashley), Gregory, Mandi (Adam) Rosales, Erik, and Brandon; two great-grandchildren, Lainey and Max Rojek;  a son-in-law, Tom Storcz of McHenry and a sister-in-law Elaine Triebes of Edwardsville ; aunt and great aunt.

Mr. Wallace is survived by his wife, Linda M., nee Hayes; two daughters,

Julie (Dennis) Sharkey of St. Charles and Christy (Patrick) Coulter; four grandchildren, Jack, Dylan, Delaney and Riley; his sister, Anne, his brother John “Mike” and his mother-in-law, Jean Hayes.

Mr. Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby, his sister Gertrude, and his father-in-law Jack Hayes.

Mr. Wallace loved his brothers and sisters in law and his nieces and nephews. He was a long time Lombard postal carrier. Mr. Wallace enjoyed playing golf.

LESTER W. PRISK, SR., age 87, of Lombard, died November 13 at Lexington Healthcare, Lombard, Illinois.

Mr. Prisk is survived by his wife, Eleanor, nee Ciarrachi; his son, Lester W., Jr. (Jacki) of Edgerton, Wisconsin; two daughters, Kathleen Prisk of Lombard, and Kristine (Don) Lay of Villa Park; six (6) grandchildren, Deana (Shawn) Johnson of Montgomery, Illinois, Anthony Prisk of Texas, Dr. Victor (Kristina) Prisk of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joyous Link of Yorkville, Katie (Nick) Johnson of Huntley, and Melinda (Luis) Felix of Chicago; six (6) great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters, Ida Mae Baaske of Joliet, Robert (Nancy) of St. Charles, Fred Prisk of Clarendon Hills, and Dorothy Mae (Ed) Stepnowski of Florida; his sister-in-law, Kathy Prisk of California; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Prisk is preceded in death by his brother, Donald.

Mr. Prisk was a resident of Lombard since 1952. He was a Veteran having served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Gunner on a B-17 for over 35 missions: including Central Europe, Ardennes, and Rhineland. Mr. Prisk was a retired Paper salesman and had worked for OK Papers in Franklin Park. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Prisk loved fishing, hunting, model plane building, and model trains.

George “Dan” D. Felesena, age 61, of Lombard

GEORGE “DAN” D. FELESENA, age 61, of Lombard, died November 12 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Mr. Felesena is survived by his wife, Nancy A., nee Sebastiani; his son, Terry (Leigh) of Glendale Heights; his daughter, Nicole (Ken) Artman of Bloomington, Illinois; six grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Lauren, and Olivia Felesena, and Sophia and Joseph Artman; his stepmother, Carol of Bourbonnais; four brothers, David of Bourbonnais, Mark (Karla) of Chebanse, Mike (Bonnie) of Bradley, and Marty (Jeanne) of Bourbonnais; his sister, Cheryl (Marc) Hudgens of Bourbonnais; many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Felesena is preceded in death by his father, Norman; and his mother, Evelyn Brown, nee Jenkins.

Mr. Felesena was a 27-year employee of Peters and Associates. He loved woodworking, photography, and spending time with his Grandchildren.

RALPH R. BELL, JR., age 78, lifelong resident of Lombard

RALPH R. BELL, JR., age 78, of Lombard, died November 7 at Lexington Square, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 10 at 10:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home.

Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Myrna, nee Leo; four children, Stephen (Carol) of St. John, Indiana, Michael (Linda) of Oswego, Richard (Cindy) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Kristen (John) Wahler of Altoona, Iowa; ten (10) grandchildren; two (2) great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his brother, Carl (Gladys) Bell of Florida; and his sister, Mildred Carey of South Dakota.
Mr. Bell is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph R. Bell, Sr., and Cora, nee Tanis; his step-mother, Margaret Hendrickson; and 4 brothers and sisters, Ruth Roach, Dorothy Cross, Rebekah Strom, and Claude.

Mr. Bell was a life-long resident of Lombard. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Bell served in the Big Red One – U.S. Atomic Tests in the Pacific in the 1950’s. He was married for 54 years and resided on Park Avenue in Lombard for 53 years. Mr. Bell had retired from Charles Equipment Company in Addison after over 35 years. He was a very active member of the Lombard Bible Church where he had held most offices including, Deacon, Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent, and Song Leader. Mr. Bell “could fix anything but a broken heart”. He was an avid fisherman.
