Michael A. Scheff, age 72, of Elmhurst, died December 26 at Hines VA Hospital.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 5 at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard. With a Memorial Service held at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Scheff is survived by five children: Mark, Jani, Dana, Heather & Mary.4 grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob, Ruby & Gianna; two brothers: Raymond (Theresa) & Daniel, a sister, Margaret McDonald, and his loving  companion, Patricia nee Novak.

Mr. Scheff is preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen, a sister-in-law, Sharon and a brother-in-law, Bill McDonald.

Mr. Scheff was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He loved to fish. He was free spirited, calm and a quiet man. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved producing art work and  photography. Mr Scheff was an extremely devoted father and grandfather.

GERALD A. WHITE, age 83, of Lombard, WWII Army, died December 20 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 23 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 24 at 10 AM at Brust

Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mr. White is survived by his wife, Margaret M., nee Steffen (Shaw); six children, Ralph of Warrenville, Ron of California, Renee (Joe) Jakubik of Lombard, William Shaw of Niles, Michael (Joan) Shaw of Chicago, and Nannette Grist of Jacksonville, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Anita White of River Forest; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. White is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Eva; his 2nd wife, Violet; and his brother Philip.

Mr. White was a member and Quarter Master of VFW 5815.  He was a member of and had served as past President and Secretary of the Oceanwaves Square Dancers since 1996.  Mr. White was an Usher at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard.  He enjoyed travelling.

BETTY A. KODL, nee Karier, age 74, of Lyons, died on December 4, 2012 in Richardson, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 9 from 2 to 6 PM at Brust Funeral Home 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral service will be held Monday, December 10 with 9:00 AM prayers from Brust Funeral Home to St. Hugh Catholic Church, 7939 W. 43rd Street, Lyons, for 10:00 AM Mass. Mrs. Kodl is survived by her children: Milton (Jennifer) and Brian; her grandchildren: Nathan and Joshua; her brother: Clarence (Norma) Karier; and many nieces and nephews.

Frank Samuel Mortensen, age 73, of Lombard,

Frank Samuel Mortensen, age 73, of Lombard, died Dec 17th of pneumonia.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec 22nd, at Brust Funeral Home  135 S. Main St. Lombard from 11 A.M. until 3:30 PM.

Interment will be held privately

Frank is survived by his wife, Charmaine Mortensen of Lombard, son’s Armando (Jean) of Lombard and Robert, a daughter Suzanne, one brother, Hans Willy (Janet) of TN; a sister, Laila (Charles Michael) Potts of Lombard, sister in law Gloria Mortensen; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Frank is preceded in death by his brother Victor Mortensen and his parents, Rev. Hans Mortensen and Wilhelmine.

Frank was born in Norway. He was a longtime resident of Lombard. He was co-owner of VFN Fiberglass in Addison since 1969.  He was a member of Midwest Street Rod Association and the National Hot Rod Association. He made fiberglass race car parts. He also worked in Commercial Construction and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local 58, Chicago for more than 50 years.

Lorraine L. Kenn, nee Hoffmeister age 93, of Elmhurst

Lorraine L. Kenn, nee Hoffmeister  age 93, of Elmhurst, died Dec. 14 in Colorado. Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Joan (Larry) Robinette and Gene Burton. Four Grandchildren, Timothy, James, Joel, and Rebekah Burton.  Five Great-Grandchildren, Atheena, Abigail, Nate, Arianna, and Kaydence Burton.

Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park.

Mrs. Kenn will be lying-in-state at Harvard  Ave.Ev. Free Church, 206 W. St. Charles Road, Villa  Park, IL from Noon until time of Service at 1 PM on Sat. Dec. 22.
Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Hillside.

Elmer Joseph Frank Krieger, age 92, of Lombard

Elmer Joseph Frank Krieger, age 92, of Lombard for 60 years died December 15, 2012. Elmer was the loving husband of the late Elaine W., nee Hardtke for 63 years. He is survived by three daughters: Jean Graves (Timothy) of Lombard, Sue Ann Jordan (Jimmie) of Texas, Linda Reid (David) of Lombard and father of the late Gary Kreiger. He left behind 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. He was brother of Dorothy Peters of Washington Illinois, the late Roland and the late Alan (Patricia) of Illinois.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Elwaine (Barbara) Hardtke of Lombard, and many many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Elmer grew up in LaGrange and has lived in Lombard since 1952. He was a retired machinist and active in church as a former Elder, usher, and longtime choir member.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  He will be lying-in-state Wednesday, December 19 from 9:00 am to Until time of Services at 10:00 am located at Trinity Lutheran Church York Center, Roosevelt Road at Westmore/Meyers Roads, Lombard, Illinois.

Eleanor Martin, nee Pfaff, age 92, of Florida

Eleanor Martin, age 91, of Florida, died with her husband, Ronald Martin on December 8 in LaGrange, Illinois.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her nephews, Michael P. Kiernan of Colorado Springs and H. Daniel Kiernan, III of Tempe, Arizona; and her grand-nephew, Kevin M. Kiernan of Colorado Springs.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her sister, Ruth (Dudie) Kiernan.

Eleanor was born September 16, 1921 in West Haven, Connecticut to Alfred X. and Elsie, nee Gruner Pfaff. She resided in Florida and was a Circumnavigator and world traveler. For the last ten, joyous years of her life, she flourished in the constant companionship of her truest love; husband, Ronald Martin of LaGrange, Illinois.

Ronald L. Martin, age 90, of La Grange

Ronald L. Martin, age 90, of La Grange died December 8, 2012. Ron is survived by six daughters: Diane Gilliard (Don), Karen Martin (Johari Dharan), Terri Daniels (Chuck), Lynn Martin (Hal Taylor), Kim McMahan, and Jill Martin-Golden (Mark). He left behind 14 grandchildren: Michael and James Gilliard, Zahari and Dewi Dahran, Chris and Peter Daniels, Henry and Katie Taylor, Steven (Adriana), Stephonie (Joe), and Paul McMahan, Elizabeth Germain (Eric), Samantha , Bethannie and Matthew Golden. The great grandchildren: Alex, Jacob, Xavier, Olivia, Erin and Jake. He is also survived by a brother, Ray Martin (Dorothy) and a sister-in-law of his first wife, Majorie Cooper. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Margaret, nee Cooper, his parents and his three brothers. He died with his wife Eleanor, nee Daly.
Ron graduated from the Naval Academy in 1945 and served on the USS Essex during World War II. He received his master’s degree in 1950 and his doctorate in 1952, both at the University of Chicago. As a graduate student he worked with Erico Fermi. His pioneering work on the early laser was recognized by Hans Bethe. He retired as the Director of the High Energy Physics Division of Argonne National Laboratories after more than 25 years of contribution. He was an internationally recognized scientist who established a company to develop accelerators for medical proton therapy in retirement. He was a brilliant mathematician who spent any ‘free’ time working on proofs for Fermat’s Last Theorem and Goldbach’s Conjecture. He and his wife Eleanor were very active with the Circumnavigator’s and they traveled extensively.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 15 from 9am to Until time of Memorial Services 12 noon at The Community Presbyterian Church 1111 E. Madison St. Lombard, Illinois.
