MYRNA M. BELL, age 75, of Lombard,

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

MYRNA M. BELL, age 75, of Lombard, died Sunday, February 9 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Loving wife of the late Ralph, Beloved mother of Stephen (Carol), Michael (Linda), Richard (Cindy) and Kristen (John) Wahler. Proud grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of three.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12 from 4 to 8 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 13 at 11 AM at Brust Funeral Home.Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Myrna Mae Leo was born on July 15, 1938 to Joseph and Effie Leo. She has been a lifelong resident of Lombard growing on Harrison Street. She was from a large family consisting of Penny, Alyce, Dorthy, Rich and John. On August 16,1958 she married Ralph Raymond Bell and they resided on Park Avenue for over 50 years. After their 55th anniversary, Ralph was called home while they were residing at Lexington of Lombard.

Myrna was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, clean and was a very loving and caring mother to Stephen, Michael, Richard and Kristen. She had 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, with a great love for family and MANY precious friends.

She was an active member of Lombard Bible Church. In fact she started going to church through the invitation of “Grandpa and Grandma Badger”. The most important thing about Myrna’s life is that she loved the Lord and was able to call him Savior in Jr. High. She read her Bible every morning and tried to learn from God. She held MANY positions at Lombard Bible Church including VP of Homemakers, Deaconess, Sunday School teacher and Pioneer Girls Leader. Ralph and Myrna were faithful attenders along with children of Lombard Bible Church which is dearly beloved by the Bell family.

Myrna worked for the Lombard YMCA as their Office Manager for over 25 years. The office began in her residence until they moved to their Park Avenue location. Through her position at the Lombard YMCA she served many people of Lombard and always had a listening ear for people’s needs.

Some of her other interests included: a shared business with her dear friend Peg called The Housesweepers, writing as a published author, birdwatching, journaling different flowers, collecting Pink Depression Glass, traveling and she was an avid reader. Every year until her children were through college, they saved to go on annual summer family vacations, including tent camping to the west coast and back.

She was a very caring, loving person, and a GREAT listener.

When we think about Myrna and all that she endured in this life, I think the word that sums it up is faithful. She had a love for God that transformed other people’s lives.

Memorials to Lombard Bible Church, 111 S. Park, Lombard, Il, appreciated.
