BENJAMIN CORNACCHIONE, age 88, of Lombard, formerly of Cicero

Ben CornacchioneBenjamin Cornacchione, age 88, of Lombard, formerly of Cicero, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church, Lombard, for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, of 65 years.

Loving Father of Susanne (Charles McIntosh) Rovansek-McIntosh, Joanne (Joseph Leone) DelGallo-Leone, Teresa (Rodney) Hoover, Marianne Cornacchione

Preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Lisa (Ridyard) Cornacchione.

Grandfather of Amy (Thomas) Rovansek-Leo, Erik (Elaina) Rovansek, Nicole (Keith) Rovansek-Koziol, Michael (Lindsay) DelGallo, Frank (Vanessa) DelGallo,

Sarah (Adam) DelGallo-Korneck, Melissa (Frank) Hoover-Cunningham, Benjamin Hoover.

Great Grand Father of 12 children and loving Uncle to many.

Owner of his own accounting/income tax practice in Berwyn for 45 years

He enjoyed sharing his Italian traditions with his family on Sundays, eating homemade pasta and drinking a good glass of wine.

He loved life and lived it to it’s fullest.

His grandchildren idolized him.

He loved his entire family with all his heart. 

He loved to laugh and enjoyed a good card game or a day at the casino with his wife Betty

He will be deeply missed.

He was loved by everyone and was truly “One of a Kind”!

American FlagSmith KevinJ. Kevin Smith, age 86, of San Diego, CA, WWII Army Vet died April 12, at Brighton Gardens in Wheaton, IL.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15th, from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 16th,             10:15 AM from  Brust Funeral Home to St. Petronille Church, 420 Glenwood, Glen Ellyn, IL for 11:00 AM Mass. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake, IL.

Mr. Smith is survived by three children, Brian (Judy) of Glen Ellyn, Laura (Mark) Mitchell of Chicago, and Diane (Thomas) Stapleton of Elmhurst; nine grandchildren, Alicia, Colin, and Hannah Avril, Andrew and Brandon Mitchell, Peter and Patrick Smith, and Megan and Shannon Stapleton. Devoted friend of Marie Chemali.

Mr. Smith graduated from Notre Dame in 1952. He was a member of the Republican Party. Mr. Smith was an examiner for the Malcom Baldrich Quality Award. He was Vice President of Product Quality and Reliability for International Harvester, now Navistar.

Henry A. Stankevitz, age 91, of Lombard,

StankevitzHenry A. Stankevitz, age 91, of Lombard, Coast Guard Vet, died April 9 at his home (Beacon Hill).

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, from 9AM until time of prayers 9:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard to Christ the King Church for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be at Maryhill Cemetery, Niles, IL

Henry is survived by three children, William Stankevitz (Patricia), James Stankevitz (Kathryn Wilda), Alan Stankevitz (JoAnn Hidaka); and five grandchildren, Jennifer Miller (Roger), Benjamin (Dana), Geoffrey (Jennifer) Stankevitz, Mark Stankevitz (Leslie Farland), JJ Stankevitz; and ten great grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, Jessica, Kaitlynn, Margaret, Daniel, Timothy, Allison, Jacob, Anna; and many dear nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Henry is also survived by his sister, Edith Beverly (Leonard) and sister-in-law, Inez Ferrell.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Imelda and his brother, John; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Henry was a resident of Lombard for the past eight years and was formerly of Chicago. Henry was a printer/typesetter by trade for over 40 years. He enjoyed his retirement taking many trips with Imelda, rock collecting and making gemstone jewelry, coin detecting with his brother John, and watching both Cubs and White Sox games on TV. Henry was always up for a good hamburger and a beer. Henry passed away peacefully on the night of April 9th but not before the “W” flag was raised over Wrigley Field.

ELZ American FlagRobert T. Elz, age 76, of Lombard, Navy Vet,died April 4 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

AMemorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 9, at 4:30 PM at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main Street, Lombard.  Reception to follow until 7 PM.

Mr. Elz is survived by his wife, Linda R. Reid nee Michael; three children, Anna E. Elz of Seattle, Washington, Susan K (Robert E.) Carlson of Yorkville, Illinois, and Robert A. of Lombard; two step-children, Heather nee Reid (Choukri) Mesli of Lombard, and Bill (Heide) Reid) of Allen, Texas; eight grandchildren, Caleb Carlson of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Wolffe Carlson, Zelda Carlson, and Sunnove Carlson all of Yorkville, Illinois, Ilyes Mesli and Sabri Mesli of Lombard, Illinois, and William Reid and Hayden Reid of Allen, Texas; two sisters, Diana (Raymond) Compton of Utah and Ruth (Donn) Lyons of Utah. He was an uncle and great-uncle of many.

Mr. Elz is preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte A. nee Day.

Mr. Elz was a member of the “Wheaton Community Radio Amateurs.” He belonged to two bowling leagues.  Mr. Elz was a member of First Church of Lombard.
