Morris, HelenHelen Morris nee Ulber, age 91, of Lombard, died June 28, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, from 9:00 AM until time of funeral prayers at 10:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, to Christ the King Church for 11:00 AM Mass. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.

Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack, of Lombard; four children, Tom (MaryJean) of Bartlett, Kathy Lofgren of Oak Park, Loretta of Naperville, Michael (Helen) of Wheeling; seven grandchildren: Matt (Ana) Swank of Oak Park, Tom of South Elgin, Jill Hulting of Naperville, Michael Hulting of Naperville, Katie Lofgren of Oak Park, Andrew Lofgren of Oak Park, Eric Lofgren of Oak Park. Aunt of three.

Preceded in death by her son, Jay, and two sisters, Anne and Tess.

Mrs. Morris was born in Austria and came to the United States in 1927. She lived in Lombard for the last six years. Mrs. Morris was formerly of Norwood Park and was then a parishioner of St. Eugene’s Church. Mrs. Morris was a member of Christ the King Church.

Alvin W. T. Harks Jr., age 85, of Lombard

American FlagAlvin W. T. Harks Jr., age 85, of Lombard, died June 28, 2014, at Beacon Hill Healthcare Center.

A private graveside service will take place at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.

Mr. Harks is survived by his wife, Irma E. nee Schmitt; four children, Glenn (Karen) of St. Charles, Gregg (Cari) of Lombard, Cheryl (Doug) Hoy of Portland, Oregon, Debbie (Kevin) Kelly of Glen Ellyn; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harks is preceded in death by two sisters and a son, Gary.

Mr. Harks was a WWII Veteran. He graduated from Luther North High School in Chicago and had resided in Lombard since 1960. Mr. Harks retired from C.P.C. International as a Transportation Manager in 1994. He was married for 66 years.

Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife, Kathleen V. nee Hermansen; two sons,  Kevin of

Mr. Baldwin was a  U. S. Army Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a resident of Villa Park for 37 years.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 30 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 1 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Church, Lombard, for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven, Hillside, Illinois.

Mrs. Dlugopolski is survived by two daughters, Julie (Benjamin Volpe) Dlugopolski of Lombard, and Karen (Scott) Cebula of Round Lake; her grandson, Alfred Gordon of Chicago; her sister, Dorothy Polito of Buffalo, New York; her brother Alfred ‘Freddie’ (Connie) Plandowski of Lackawanna, New York; many nieces and nephews; and many friends and grandchildren of her heart.

Mrs. Dlugopolski is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J.; her brothers and sisters, Stanley, Theodore, Mary, Veronica ‘Ronnie’, Josephine, and Frances ’Frannie’.

Mrs. Dlugopolski was a resident of Lombard since 1965.  She was a homemaker and had worked part-time as a hairdresser, an accountant, and doing embroidery work.  Mrs. Dlugopolski liked to cook and baked cookies for the neighborhood.  She had spent part of the year in St. Petersburg, Florida and was a member of the Purple Hat Society.  Mrs. Dlugopolski was an active member of Christ the King Church in Lombard.

Henry ‘Hank’ J. Stawarski, age 87, life-long resident of Bellwood, died June 24 at his home.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 27 from 4 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 28 with prayers at 8:15 AM from Brust Funeral Home to St. Simeon Church, Bellwood, for 9 AM Mass.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mr. Stawarski is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann, nee Ripani; his daughter, Janet (Wayne) Smith of Arizona; two sons, Henry (Elvira) of Downers Grove, and Robert (Deborah) of Round Lake; eight grandchildren, Tony (Laura) Grosso of Arizona, Christopher (April) Grosso of Arizona, Cory of Arizona, Robert Stawarski, Jr. of Round Lake, Michael Stawarski of Schaumburg, Elise (Stephen) Ridgeway of Great Britain; Natalie Stawarski of Downers Grove, Melissa Stawarski of Aurora; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Franco Grosso; and his sister, Rose Fisher of Bellwood.

Mr. Stawarski was born in Bellwood and had attended Proviso East High School.  He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II.  Mr. Stawarski had worked for Borg Warner from 1947 to 1982.  He had worked part-time at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard for over 20 years.  He had worked at the Senne Funeral Home in Maywood in the early 1940’s.  Mr. Stawarski was active with the Retirement Group from Borg Warner.  He was a scratch golfer and had won several company tournaments at Borg Warner.  He loved to work.  Hank and Ann had celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Dorothy Jean Dotto, 88, of Lombard, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy loved good food, card games, socializing, and most of all spending time with her friends and family. She devoted her life to loved ones, and was always there for family gatherings.  She had a wonderful laugh and a smile that could light up the room.  Dorothy remained active through her life, and was still waterskiing and ice skating well into her seventies.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert (Kate) Dotto of Lombard, Joan (Donald) Mielke of Lombard and, Valerie (Edward) Linden of Bridgeview. Grandmother of John (Jennifer) Dotto, Sarah (Joe) Lottino, Robert (Emily) Mielke, Jennifer (Andrew) Fors, Katie (Kevin) Calabrese, Samantha and James Linden, Ingrid (Steve) Baldwin; proud great grandmother of 8.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dotto.

To celebrate Dorothy’s life, a visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 3 PM to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.  Funeral service will begin Wednesday at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Church, Lombard for 10AM Mass. Bruce C. Hoffmann, age 55, of Glen Ellyn

Bruce HoffmannBruce C. Hoffmann, age 55, of Glen Ellyn, passed away June 13th at his home after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  Bruce was surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce spent 39 years as a Produce Manager for Dominick’s Finer Foods.  He was a talented wood craftsman and he enjoyed rehabbing and flipping houses.  Bruce enjoyed the occasional afternoon at Arlington or his favorite casino.  He was also an excellent skier and he loved boating and being on the water.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan Hoffmann; his daughters, Danielle and Christy Hoffmann; 2 step-daughters, Sarah (Jacob) Wielgot  and Dana (Nicholas) Eisenach; 5 grandchildren, Victoria, Haleigh, Natalia, Emily and Aiden; his sister, Diane (Pat) Gannon and his brother, Ron Hoffmann; several nieces, great nieces and a great nephew.  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Edith Hoffmann.

A celebration of Bruce’s life will be take place on Saturday,June 21st from 12-5 pm with a service at 3 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main St., Lombard.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNS Home Health and Hospice; 690 E. John T. Strand, age 57, of Lombard

John StrandJohn T. Strand, 57, passed away June 12th.  He was the beloved husband of Madelyn, loving father of Jonathan (Courtney) Strand, Michael Strand, and Manuel (Tracie) Andrade; doting grandfather to Dylan, Hayden “Myrtle” Strand, Jesse, Jacob, Faith and Joshua Andrade.  He was the loving brother to Bonnie (Frank) Coconato and Carol (Tim) Knor; uncle to 14 nieces and nephews; and great uncle to 8 nieces and nephews.  He was the son of Johan T. Strand (Mary), and was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Ann Carlson.

He was a very loving person, always willing to help anyone in need.  He was a man’s man.  He was hardworking and took good care of his family and friends.  He will be missed by all.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2 pm to 7 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.  Interment is private.

 

 

Christopher Michael Hayden, age 40, of Lombard,

HaydenChristopher Michael Hayden, age 40, of Lombard, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 11, 2014.

Born on February 11th, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, Christopher was the beloved son of William Hayden and Irene Hayden.  He was raised and educated in Lombard, Illinois.  He had a great passion for music, guitar, and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team.   He loved spending time outdoors at his family’s cottage in Wisconsin, sitting beside a fire and looking at the stars.  He will be most remembered for his love of his family and especially his nephew Chase; he had compassion for all living creatures, both people and animals.

Survivors include his parents, his older brother Sean Hayden of Lombard, and younger sister Elizabeth Hayden of Villa Park; his nephew Chase Lichter; his loving girlfriend Jennifer Hensley of almost 20 years and her son Ryan Hensley; and many close uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
