
Lorraine C. Burmeister, 89, of Granger, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Hearth at Juday Creek. Lorraine was the cherished wife of Ernest R. Burmeister, who proceeded her in death, the devoted mother of Mary Ellen Kennedy, (deceased), Gerilyn Lee Barton(deceased), Teresa Ann Bittinger, Richard Ernest Burmeister, (Paula), and Carl Anthony Burmeister and loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Matthew (Charlene) Johnson, Ben Johnson, Jason (Marcie) Pomeroy, Carly (Matthew) Quick, Darlene Barton, Derek Barton, Nick Barton, William Burmeister, Robert Burmeister, Daniel Burmeister and Kaelin Burmeister. Lorraine leaves behind her siblings, brothers, Ralph (Maxine) Haas, Ken (Geraldine) Haas, Richard Haas, and sister Rita Ruhland. Siblings, LaVerne, Louis, Cletus and Lucille Haas, preceded her in death.
Lorraine was the valedictorian of her high school and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Madison then served in the Cadet Nurse Corps and Red Cross. She was a founding member of Christ the King Church in Lombard, where she sang in the choir, donated her time and talents to Martha’s Circle, Eucharistic Ministers and served as Women’s Club president where she was honored as Woman of the Year. Lorraine loved to travel with her husband, touring Europe, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and almost every state in the U.S. Lorraine was active in the Red Hat Society, loved her time with family and friends, playing cards, sharing a laugh and a beer!

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30th at 9:30am from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Catholic Church In Lombard for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Reverend Jeff Stoneberg, officiating At rest, Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, Illinois. Visitation, Monday, September 29th 3pm to 8pm. Rosary prayer service at 6:00PM at the funeral home.
