The following are his own words:

Reflections 1941-2001

Once there were many, now they are a few,

they came from city and farm from near and far,

to enter the ranks of a brotherhood of special

men who are always ready to defend our country

when called upon. They were trained and when ready,

the enemy’s beaches and strongholds were stormed and

the job was done, some never returned and gave their full

measure of men who did their duty.

Those that returned to a former life lived, loved, and worked

and as a result they and others enjoyed a better world.

The few of many who wore the green, can now and always

say, I did what I could, I did my best to pass the test, I was and

always will in my heart be a U.S. Marine.
