Raymond Michael Jeske, 90, of Lombard, IL passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. Ray, a resident of Lombard for nearly 60 years, was born October 5, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Lillian (Nykaza) Jeske.
During WWII, he served in the Pacific theater, fighting with the 85th Chemical Mortar Battalion, US Army, receiving four bronze battle stars during his time at war. In 1952 he married Etta Mae Rutherford. They were married 52 years before she preceded him in death.
Prior to retirement, Ray worked as a machinist at Sunbeam Inc. for 30 years.
Throughout his entire life, he brought laughter and joy to the hearts of many family members and friends. Everyone who has known and loved him, has been a recipient of his innocent teasing.
Ray is survived by his son, Daniel R. Jeske and his wife Kim of Naperville IL, and his daughter, Jean E. Applegate and her husband Ken of Joliet, IL, and his three grandchildren, Julie Jeske, Jackie Jeske, and Jared Applegate. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Dortha Weiss, brother-in-laws, William Rutherford and his wife Karen, James Rutherford and his wife Delores, Charles Rutherford and his wife Lonetta, Marvin Rutherford and his wife Bonnie, Rodger Rutherford and his wife Mary and their families.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 PM to 7 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be Monday at 1PM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, IL.
