Margaret M. Mueller, age 74, nee Aumann, of Lombard

MuellerMargaret M. Mueller, age 74, nee Aumann, of Lombard, passed away Thursday, February 26th at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Known to many as “Grama” Marge Mueller, she lived in Chicago and moved to Lombard in 1981.  Marge was the loving mother of Karen (Chris) Savas, Billy (Dawn), and Sharon (Mike) Kuderna.  She was the fun-loving Grandma of Staci, Mikey, Christopher, Sammi, Billy and Summer.  A dear sister of Karen Aumann and Aunt of Ann Bruner, Kristen (Rob) Baltrum, and Katie (Tim) Torkelson).  She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Katherine “Kay” Aumann.

Friends included a cast of hundreds.  Marge made genuine friends wherever she went.  She had a work hard, play hard mentality and was a successful entreprenaeur as “The Printer Marge” until retirement.  Life with Marge was always an adventure, filled with laughter and stories.  She truly made life FUN.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 1st , 2 PM to 7 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard.  A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, March 2nd,  at 11 AM at Brust Funeral Home.

Lyle E. Gascoigne, age 67, of Lombard for 34 years,

GascoigneLyle E. Gascoigne, age 67, of Lombard for  34 years, passed  away at home February 25th.

A Memorial Service will be held Tues, March 3 at 6:30 PM, at Gary United Methodist Church 224 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. A gathering will take place after the service.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Pam S. nee Haefner, three children, Tonya , Sean (Carrie)  and  Jeremy (Leanne) all of Lombard, eight grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ellen (Don) Schaefer of Littleton, CO, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gascoigne loved his grandkids. He was a member of the Tebala Shriners.

Raymond Michael Jeske, 90, of Lombard, IL

Jeske, rayRaymond Michael Jeske, 90, of Lombard, IL passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL.  Ray, a resident of Lombard for nearly 60 years, was born October 5, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Lillian (Nykaza) Jeske.

During WWII, he served in the Pacific theater, fighting with the 85th Chemical Mortar Battalion, US Army, receiving four bronze battle stars during his time at war. Ray never quite forgave the U.S. Army for sending him to the Philippine islands, where he could not watch or listen to his beloved Cubs in their only World Series appearance in his lifetime.

In 1952 he married Etta Mae Rutherford.  They were married 52 years before she preceded him in death.

Prior to retirement, Ray worked as a machinist at Sunbeam Inc. for 30 years.

Throughout his entire life, he brought laughter and joy to the hearts of many family members and friends. Everyone who has known and loved him, has been a recipient of his innocent teasing.

Ray is survived by his son, Daniel R. Jeske and his wife Kim of Naperville IL, and his daughter, Jean E. Applegate and her husband Ken of Joliet, IL, and his three grandchildren, Julie Jeske, Jackie Jeske, and Jared Applegate.  He is also survived by sister-in-law, Dortha Weiss, brother-in-laws, William Rutherford and his wife Karen, James Rutherford and his wife Delores, Charles Rutherford and his wife Lonetta, Marvin Rutherford and his wife Bonnie, Rodger Rutherford and his wife Mary and their families.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3 PM to 7 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be Monday at 1PM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn, IL.

In honor of Ray, donations can be made to Schults-Lewis Child and Family Services, P.O. Box 471, 325 S &150 E, Valparaiso, IN 46384. This organization is devoted to helping struggling children and their families. Ray and Etta supported this organization and its cause.

DragoKaren A. Drago-Dragovich, age 75, of Lombard, formerly of Three Lakes, Wisconsin, passed away February 19, 2015.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 PM – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Another visitation will take place Friday from 3 PM – 8PM at Becker & Son Funeral Home, 221 S. Poplar St., Mt. Olive, IL. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10 AM at St. John Paul II Church, Mt. Olive, IL. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.

Karen is survived by her sister, Doris Leitner-Enders, and her brother, Daniel (Carolyn) Dragovich; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Cosmo.

Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Kolker and her brother, David L. Dragovich.

Theresa Grabenhofer, age 91,

GrabenhaferTheresa Grabenhofer, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 2015.  She was married to the late Frank Grabenhofer for over 54 years.  She is survived by her daughter Theresa (the late Edward) Hays of Lombard, her son Frank (Nancy) Grabenhofer of Wheaton, grandson John Calabrese of Boston, granddaughter Julie (Bud) Felichio of Oak Park, grandson Alex (Sara) Grabenhofer of Wheaton and great grandchildren Grace & Anthony Felichio of Oak Park.

Theresa was born in 1923 in Chicago Illinois and lived there before moving to Lombard in 1948.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for over 65 years.  She owned and operated Theresa’s Beauty Salon around the corner from the old DuPage Theater for almost 30 years.  After closing the doors of “the shop”, Theresa still visited friends and former customers in nursing homes in order to help them look and feel beautiful.  Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family including her infamous Sunday dinners and following the basketball career of her granddaughter as both a player and a coach.  She was a strong woman who cared for her late husband as his health failed and maintained her home and yard into her mid 80’s.  Theresa loved to walk her dog and visit with her neighbors.  She was well loved by all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate her life on Thursday, February 26th at 10:00am at St. John Lutheran Church 215 S. Lincoln Ave in Lombard.

 

 

Constance Downes, nee Lovelace, age 94, of Lombard

Constance Downes, nee Lovelace, age 94, of Lombard, died February 15 at Lexington Square, Lombard, Illinois.

Memorial Gathering and Service will be held Friday, February 20 from 2 to 4 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Interment Private.

Mrs. Downes is survived by her son, Steven (Mary Enright) Downes of Sterling, Illinois; two granddaughters, Amanda and Charlotte; and her great-grandson, Nathan.

Mrs. Downes is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon.

Mrs. Downes was a resident of Lombard since 1955.  She was a longtime resident on Ethel Street in Lombard.  Mrs. Downes had retired over 20 years ago after over 25 years with US Gypsum as a Secretary in Labor Relations.  Mrs. Downes had attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Betty J. Stoeckel, nee Foster, age 90, of Lombard

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 22, from 4 to 7 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 23 with Mrs. Stoeckel Lying-In-State from 9 AM to time of Service at 10 AM at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, 215 South Lincoln, Lombard.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mrs. Stoeckel is survived by four children, Jan (Rick) Anderson of Villa Park, John (Ruth) of Minnesota, Judy (Larry) Lay of Villa Park, and Jim (Amy) of Dixon, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Mark (Danielle) Anderson of Cary, Julie (Steve) Kulovits of Glen Ellyn, Marta (Tim) Rogers of Minnesota, Kate (Fiancé Justin Stamschroc) of Washington, Josie Stoeckel of Minnesota, Christy (Josh) Parise of Wisconsin, John (Maggie) Lay of Plainfield, Dan Stoeckel of Illinois, David (Tanya Hay) Stoeckel of Illinois; three step-grandchildren, Alex and Spencer Leatherman, and A.J. Conwell of Illinois; eight great-grandchildren, Ricky and Johnny Anderson, Ryan Kulovits, Jack, Evan and Isabelle Parise, Ellie and Tessa Lay; and many other relatives.

Mrs. Stoeckel is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J.

Mrs. Stoeckel was a resident of Lombard since 1956.  She was a graduate of Parker High School in Chicago.  Mrs. Stoeckel had retired as a Sales Clerk from Penney’s Department Store.  She was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church where she had been a volunteer especially for the school library.

MARGARET ‘MARGE’ GEHRS, nee Ahrens, age 90, lifelong resident of Lombard, died February 15 at Beacon Hill, Lombard, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 8 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday with Mrs. Gehrs Lying-In-State from 10 AM to time of Service at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran York Church, York Center.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Gehrs is survived by her step-daughter, Pauline A. of Tennessee; her son-in-law, Paul Howland; six grandchildren, Dr. Bradley, M.D. (Mary Anne) Gehrs of Oklahoma, Dr. Melinda (Heath Beaver) Gehrs, M.D. of Colorado, Kellie Gaetz of Tennessee, Michael (Rachel) Howland of Michigan, Matthew Howland of Melrose Park, and Joshua Howland of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Nate, Ben, Alex, and Ashley; and many other relatives.

Mrs. Gehrs is preceded in death by her husband, Carl J.; her daughter, Kimberly Howland; her step-son, Dr. Carl W. Gehrs.

Mrs. Gehrs was a life-long resident of Lombard.  She was a graduate of Trinity York Center Grade School and York High School in Elmhurst.  She had been married for over 40 years to the late Carl J. who had been Principal and Pastoral Assistant at Trinity Lutheran.  Mrs. Gehrs was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, York Center where she had sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and been a member of the Ladies’ Aid.  She was born on the Ahrens family farm in Lombard and Ahrens Street is named after her family.

Margaret Grace Maas, 95, of Elmhurst

Maas, MargaretMargaret Grace Maas, 95, of Elmhurst, died peacefully Friday, February 13, 2015.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 PM to 6 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Her funeral service will be Thursday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church for 10 AM Mass. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.

Margaret was born October 8, 1919 in Elmhurst, the daughter of Lothar and Margaret (Marhoefer) Brodt.

She married John B. Maas August 30, 1947.  He preceded her in death on July 4, 1986.

Margaret, Maggie as her friends called her, enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards.  She and her husband, John, loved children, adopting three, as well as caring for other children throughout the years.  She will be remembered for always putting other people first.

Survivors include her children, Paul (Esther) Maas of Billings, MT, Katherine Coleman of Lombard, Il and John D. (Brianna) Maas of Rock Falls, Il; five grandchildren; Paul, Ryan, Tanya, Collin and Sean Coleman and her “adopted” grandson Michael Guimond.  She is also survived by her special friends Colleen McEvoy, Marilyn Jacobsen and Celeste Henson.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jim Brodt.

Emily Catherine Lederer, nee Baron, age 88

Emily Catherine Lederer, nee Baron, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2015.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst.

Born March 24, 1926,  Emily is survived by her daughter, Linda Follett and her son, Robert Lederer. Emily had 6 grandchildren and 16 great grand- children.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lederer.

Emily was born and raised in Chicago, IL where she and Edward lived for several years before settling in Villa Park, IL with their family. In her prime, she was a figure skater (roller, not ice), earning her the nickname Honey, which was what her nieces and nephews called her (Aunt Honey). She enjoyed playing bunco and bingo with friends and she loved game shows, especially “The Price is Right”. Emily and Edward moved to Carol Stream in their golden years.  Emily will be missed by many, but her loved one’s know she’s moved on to a better place.
