American FlagDowningWILLIAM J. DOWNING, age 75, of Lombard, died June 29 in Tennessee.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 3 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Church, Lombard for 10 AM Mass.
Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.

Mr. Downing is survived by three children, William J., Jr. (Michelle) of Roselle, Elizabeth J. James of North Carolina, and Robert (Angela) of Tennessee; eight (8) grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Danielle, Madison, Allison, Cole, Alexi, and Jake; and two (2) brothers, Richard of New York, and John of New York.
Mr. Downing is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Betsy, nee Salvagno; his brother, Larry; and his sister, Gloria.

Mr. Downing was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He was a member of American Legion Post #80 of Downers Grove. Mr. Downing was a resident of Tennessee since March and was formerly of Lombard from 1978 to 2015.

Kincaid, BruceBRUCE H. KINCAID, age 70, of Florida, formerly of Woodridge and Lombard, died June 28th in Florida.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, from 2 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be Monday, July 6, with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for 10 AM Mass.
Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, Illinois.

Mr. Kincaid is survived by his wife, Marie E., nee Weaver; two sons, Brian (Katie) of Ohio and Eric of Aurora; his brother, Dan (Connie) of Lombard; 7 nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kincaid is preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Margaret Kincaid; his brother, Patrick; his sister, Kathleen; and his parents, Victor A. and Evelyn M, nee Bronston.

Mr. Kincaid was a resident of Florida since 2012. He was formerly of Woodridge, Chicago and Lombard. Mr. Kincaid was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School in Lombard; St. Francis High School in Wheaton; and a graduate of the University of Illinois as a Civil Engineer. He had been a Project Manager for Frederick Quinn Corporation and his last big project was the Wheaton Bible Church complex. He loved his children and had been a Coach for baseball, football, and track. He saw all his children’s games. Mr. Kincaid was very involved at Downers Grove South where he had done steel engineering and worked on the installation of lights and scoreboard and the current press box at Downers Grove South.

Ronald BerquistRonald Gene Berquist passed away on June 19, 2015. He was born on March 29, 1930 in Chicago, IL, and grew up in Lombard, IL, since 1939. He was a Corporal with the U.S. Army, stationed in West Germany, 1952-1954. While there, he wrote for the Stars and Stripes.

Ron graduated from the University of Illinois and obtained an international journalism fellowship from Columbia University, New York City. He worked as a reporter, rewrite-man, and night editor for Chicago Today, Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago City News Bureau. He also freelanced as a writer for Time, Newsweek, Los Angeles Times and Financial Times of London.

Ron loved to read and have lively discussions about current events and history. He was a renaissance man–traveling the world, playing the drums, dancing, sailing, taking photographs, attending the opera and ballet and Second City. He loved musicals, blues music and jazz. He enjoyed skiing and bike riding. Ron’s Favorites–The Blues Brothers, “SNL,” “McLaughlin Group,” “Blue Bloods,” “Seinfeld,” The New Yorker magazine, Clint Eastwood, Buddy Rich and Morton Arboretum’s “Wine and Woods.”

He will be remembered for his good nature, willingness to help others, sense of humor and engaging wit.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Elaine Berquist; his children, Lisa Berquist of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Stephen Berquist of Lombard, Illinois, his sister, Sheryl (Leonard) Busterno of Victorville, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael Berquist.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Hanh Huu Nguyen, age 66, of Lombard, IL

Hanh Huu Nguyen, age 66,  of Lombard, IL, died June 15, 2015, due to heart failure at Good Samaritan Hospital with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife Anna, his sons Hoang and Henry, his stepson Hai Pham, his four grandchildren, his mother Hoa, and his younger siblings: Phuc, Mai, Hau, Trung, Hieu, and Ngoc.

He was born in 1948, in Vietnam, and started off as a seminarian at the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer Order. He was then drafted into the Republic of Vietnam military where he joined their Navy. He attended OCS in the US and ended his service with the rank of Lieutenant.

After the war, he emigrated to the US with his siblings. He then married his first wife, Thi. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, started a career in telecommunications, and had two sons. Sadly, Thi passed away due to cancer. He then married his current wife, Anna and lived with her for the rest of his life. He will be remembered for his proud naval service, helping his sons graduate from college, and spending time with his grandchildren.

His family will have a visitation on Saturday, June 20th from 9am until time of prayers at 11:30am at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard. We will then preceed to St. Pius X Church in Lombard for Mass at 12 Noon. He will be interred at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.

Shirley M. Wasley nee Miller, age 94, of Lombard, formerly of Venice, FLA, passed away on June 14 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lombard.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at All Saints Cemetery in DesPlaines.
Mrs. Wasley is survived by her three children, John (Kathryn) O’Loughin, James (Andrea) O’Loughlin and Thomas (Gwen) O’Loughlin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two step-children, Don and Terry Wasley.
Mrs. Wasley is preceded in death by her husbands, John E. O’Loughlin and Robert Wasley.
Mrs. Wasley was formerly of Park Ridge and Chicago. She graduated from Maine East High School. She then attended Stevens College and volunteered for many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Mrs. Wasley also worked for J.N. Davis Insurance Company and Northern Trust.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 3PM – 8PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Services will be held Wednesday, with Mrs. Bromley lying-in-state from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 815 S. Finley, Lombard. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Bromley is survived by her five children, Rebecca R. Hernandez of Lombard, Bethany B. (Richard P. Row) Bromley of Glen Ellyn, Christine J. (Michael T.) of Lombard, Craig W. Bromley of Lombard, and Jennifer R. (Melvin Kennett) Bromley of Oglesby; six grandchildren, Wayne (Niki) Hernandez, Angela L. Olson, David Hernandez, Bobby C. (fiancé Stacey Winborn) Hernandez, Jamie L. (Jonathan Levins) Jones, Robert A. Jones; four great-grandchildren, Caprice A. Hernandez, Alexa Hernandez, Warren Ray Olson, and Isaac Ray Jones; and an expected great-grandson; her sister Marjorie (Tony) Lang of Willowbrook, her brother-in-law, James (Juanita) Bromley of Lombard, and her best friend, Marian Linsenmeyer.

Mrs. Bromley is preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. and her grandson, Warren R. Olson Jr.

Mrs. Bromley grew up in Oak Park and graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School. She was a resident of Lombard for 47 years. Mrs. Bromley was active in the VFW Auxiliary in Lombard and Faith United Methodist Church. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a former member of the Faith United Methodist Women.

DruryMARLENE E. DRURY, nee Dale, age 82, of Bensenville, died June 3 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 8 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday with Mrs. Drury Lying-In-State from 10 AM until the Service time at 11 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Lombard.
Interment will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Mrs. Drury is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Ralph) Stanford of Addison, and Kimberly Drury of Lombard; five grandchildren, Terry (Jennifer) Anweiler of Plainfield, Nicole Anweiler-Stanford of Addison, Brandon Stanford of Plainfield, Rachel Gomez of Lombard, and Matthew Gomez of Lombard; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Dilan, and Jacob.

Mrs. Drury is preceded in death by her husband, Archie L.; her brother Donald Dale; and her sister, Marjorie Dale.

Mrs. Drury grew-up in Rockford. She had been married for 35 years. Mrs. Drury was the former owner of Nashville North, a Restaurant, Bar, and Western Wear store in Bensenville that she sold in the late 1990’s. She was a good cook and was well known for her pies.
