Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5 from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 6 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church, Lombard, for a 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, Illinois.

Mr. Ruiz is the beloved husband of Jovita “Jo”, nee Gonzalez. Loving brother of Frank (Terry) Ruiz, Flo (Hope) Ruiz, Hector (Sharon) Ruiz, and George (Barbara) Ruiz.  Dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Mr.  Ruiz is preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Mr. Ruiz was a former square dancer.  He belonged to the Lunch Bunch Bowlers and enjoyed fishing.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30 from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 1 with Prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Lombard, for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be held Saturday, July 2 at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Watson, Michigan.

Mr. Mueller is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia; his children, Joe (Cam), Bill (Sandi Salyer) and Tom (Katie); ten grandchildren; his brother, David; and eight nieces and nephews.

William F. Novosel, age 88, of Lombard, formerly of Chicago, passed away June 25 at Elmhurst Hospital.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Mr. Novosel is survived by his nephew Steven (Lori) Zibrat and his great-nieces and nephews, Rachel, Becky, Bob and John.

Mr. Novosel is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Barbara nee Basic; and his sisters, Mildred A. and Eleanor (Steven J. Sr.) Zibrat.

Karl Ring, age 88, of Aurora, formerly of Lombard and Lampe, Missouri

RingKarl Ring, age 88, of Aurora, formerly of Lombard and Lampe, Missouri, WWII Veteran, passed away June 18th at Alden Courts of Waterford.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29th from 10 AM until time of service at 12 Noon at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery.

Mr. Ring is survived by his loving children, Robert (Sue), Caryn (William) Lindbeck, Peter (Cindy); his 6 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ring is preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine, and his parents, Anna and Charles; his brother, Robert C. Ring; and his sister, Eleanor McVay.

Mr. Ring served in the Navy during World War II. He lived in Lombard for many years where he worked as a carpenter. Mr. Ring then retired to Lampe, Missouri, where he enjoyed nature and continued his love for wood-working.

Frances J. Flicek, 84, of Mundelein, formerly of Lombard

Flicek, FrancesFrances J. Flicek, 84, of Mundelein, formerly of Lombard, passed away June 16, 2016 at Journey Care Hospice in Glenview.  Frances was the seventh of eleven children born to Andrew and Mary Bavetz.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband George.  She is survived by her loving children; Bill (Dotty) of Addison, Daniel (Linda) of Lombard, and Paul (Essie) of Lombard; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five siblings; and twenty-six nieces and nephews.

Frances was born and raised in Chicago. She and her husband moved to Lombard in 1955 to raise their family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed making and painting ceramics and traveling to Arizona. The most important thing to her was her family.  She lived for and loved those who were closest to her.

Visitation will be held  on Monday, June 20 from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 11:30 a.m from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard to St. Pius X Church for 12 Noon Mass. Interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.

ALFRED P. ‘BUD’ DREWS, age 83, of St. Charles, formerly of Lombard

Alfred P. “Bud” Drews, age 83, of St. Charles passed away on June 8 at Season’s Hospice Center, after 5 years of many illnesses and many courageous fights and obstacles to overcome.

Memorial services will be held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, on Saturday, June 18 from 12:00-3:00.

Bud is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years; Marjorie; his children John (Sue) of South Elgin, Steve (Sue) of Glendale Heights, Diane (Ken) of Campton Hills, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bud grew up in Forest Park and was drafted into the Korean War. While stationed in Texas, Marjorie joined him in Texas and they became married.  After 36 years in Forest Park, Bud moved his family to Lombard.  Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman and the main captain of his boat the “Chug a Lug”.  Bud was often the “life of the party” with many stories that he would tell with lots of laughter.  His laugh will always be missed.

John Michael Stancy, age 89, of Lombard

John is survived by his wife, Martha nee Vlastnik and 4 sons, Marc, Craig (Terri), Reid (Marie) and Brett.

John served in the U.S. Army as a medic in the Pacific during WWII and finished up as part of the occupation forces in Japan after the war.  He worked as a Model Maker at Motorola for 26 years.  After retirement, John worked as a tour guide in the Motorola Museum in Schaumburg for another 5 years.

John and Martha liked to camp in their pop up camper with their family and toured many of the state and national parks during summer vacations.   He enjoyed photography and photographing the natural wonders of our country, as well as some in Canada during those trips.  On John and Martha’s 50th wedding anniversary, they made a trip to Poland and the Czech Republic to meet some of their distant relatives they had never met before.

Later after John’s retirement, he also took up cooking and became quite an accomplished chef in the kitchen.  John spent quite a bit of time documenting the family genealogy and worked to keep it up to date as new family members arrived on the scene.

Laverne Miller, age 85, of Lombard

MillerLaverne Miller (85) passed away on June 10th in the comfort of her own home, after a long battle with cancer. At the end of her life, she often spoke about going home with Jesus and meeting up with her husband.  She was born and raised in Chicago and resided in Lombard, IL with her husband and children for 60 years.  She was a full time mother and worked part time at jobs such as Handy Andy and Good Samaritan Hospital.  In addition, she helped her husband run a summer resort called “Recharge” in the Algonquin, IL area.  She was outgoing, outspoken, and fun-loving throughout her life.  She enjoyed dogs, bargain shopping, good food, and planting flowers in the Springtime.  She loved the color lilac and anything that sparkled. The most important things to her in this world were her family and friends.  She lived for and loved those who were closest to her and she left a trail of sparkles wherever she went.

Laverne was preceded in death by her husband Stanley.  She is survived by her loving family; brother, Lee (Joan Mattes); sister, Lorry (Jim Whitney); three children, Janet (Mark Heyse), Scott (Terri Miller), Joy (Dwight Trostle); seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 13th from 3 to 8PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 14th at 10:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home followed by interment at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights.

FinnAmerican FlagJohn Richard Finn, 75, of Mooresville, NC, formerly of Lombard, IL, passed away June 1, 2016 at Lake Norman Regional Hospital. John was born August 7, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Isabelle Slad Finn. He was a US Air Force veteran and owned his own plumbing company. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, along with fishing and baking.

John is survived by his loving family; wife, Gillian nee Poole Finn; sons, Sean C. Finn (Susan), Ryan J. Finn (Jeanell), Ian W. Finn (Deborah); daughter, Errin K. Smith (Steven); thirteen grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Finn (Barbara) and Patrick Finn (Nina); uncle and great-uncle of many.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11 from 1 to 4 pm with a service at 2:00 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Jeanette A. Carpenter, age 78, of Berkeley, Illinois

Jeanette Ann Carpenter of Berkeley IL, died May 30, 2016 peacefully in the loving arms of her daughter Eileen in Apache Junction, Arizona. Jeanette was born on March 13, 1938 in Chicago IL.

She was a graduate of St. Anthony de Pauda School of Nursing, Chicago IL in 1958. Her nursing career included; Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, Elmhurst Clinic, Oakridge Convalescent Home, home health services, and the Sisters of St. Joesph’s.

She was a long-time member of the Women of the Moose, a unit of Moose International that supports the operation of Mooseheart, a community that supports children and teens in need. She was was an active member of St. Domitilla Parish.

Jeanette was an avid Chicago sports fan. Her favorite team was the Cubs. She also enjoyed watching the Bulls and Bears play.

Jeanette enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to dance. She met her husband, Bernard at a dance in 1962. They were married shortly after. They raised seven children together. Jeanette took pleasure in watching her children grow and have children of their own. Being a Grandma was in her eyes her “greatest blessing”.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents and her dear brothers. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bernard, her children; Mary (Russ) Gedaly, Therese Cottone (Boyd Thomas), Eileen (Mike Sr.) Busse, Tim (Mari), Bill (Chrissy Dodson), Bridget (Dave) Cale, and Brian; her grandchildren; Jillian Osinski, Brianne (Jerrod) Bower, Justin, Cameren, and Carson Gedaly, Kaela and Michael Jr.(Busse), Evan, Erick and Mariana, Alaina, Jacob, and Josephine Cale; and her great grandson, Brevin Davis

Visitation will be Friday from 3 – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard. Funeral Services will be Saturday with prayers at 9:00 AM from Brust Funeral Home to St. Domitilla Church, 4940 Washington St, Hillside, for 10 AM Mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
