Rose A. Merrick nee Stasiak, age 96, of Lombard

MerrickRose A. Merrick nee Stasiak, age 96, of Lombard, passed away July 30th at Beacon Hill Healthcare.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 AM until time of prayers at 10 AM from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard to St. John the Apostle Church, 330 N Westmore, Villa Park, for 10:30 AM Mass. Interment will be private on Friday at Assumption Cemetery.

Mrs. Merrick is survived by her loving children, Joyce (Frederick) Walter of Bloomingdale, Linda Behnke of Spring Valley; her grandchildren, Scott W. of Plano, Texas, Kimberly W. (Michael) Fugarino of St. Charles, Joseph (Karoline) Behnke of Joliet, Brian (Angela) Behnke of Romeoville; her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Colin, Donovan; and her sister Irene Lewand of Norridge.

Mrs. Merrick is preceded in death by her husband, Walter G.

Mrs. Merrick was a resident of Lombard for 68 years. She was a Charter Member of St. John the Apostle Church. Mrs. Merrick was also a member of the Lombard Woman’s Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Apostle Church, are appreciated.

ARLENE B. MATHIEU, nee Wentling, age 90

MathieuArlene B. Mathieu nee Wentling, age 90, of Winfield, formerly of Villa Park, passed away July 23, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 – 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be Friday at 10 AM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Mathieu is survived by her loving children, Daniel A., Nancy J. Miller, and Tim; her eight grandchildren, Courtney, DJ, Shalisse, Jessica, Dustin, Hailee, Abigail, and Reese; and her great-grandchildren, Coen, Scarlett, Everet, Norina, Cullen, Gunnar, and Asa.

Mrs. Mathieu is preceded in death by her husband, Donald J.; her daughter, Karen; her grandson, Michael J. Miller, and sister, Jean Wyns.

Mrs. Mathieu was the former owner of Don Juan Beauty Salon on Chicago Avenue in Chicago. She was a smart, fun-loving person who loved her family and country.

Mom would want everyone to eat right, get eight hours of sleep, read (including your horoscope) and educate themselves.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 PM to 7 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be held Monday with prayers at 10 AM from Brust Funeral Home to St. Matthew Church, 1555 Glen Ellyn Rd., Glendale Heights, for 10:30 AM Mass.

Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mrs. Caliendo is survived by her children, Joseph (Wendy), Cathy Searles, and Joan (Arthur) Berg; her grandchildren, Eddie (Charlene), Alan (Julie), Mike, Patrick, Tiffany, Gina, Kate, Brittany and her great-grandchildren, Joey, Abigail,  Patrick A., Dominick, Giovanni and Julianna.

Mrs. Caliendo is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and granddaughter, Laurie.

Mrs. Caliendo was born in Chicago. She lived in Hillside and Addison most of her life. Mrs. Caliendo lived in Glen Ellyn these past 15 years. She had been  an active member of St. Matthew Church and was also a former member of the Senior Group there.

Frank J. Halicke, age 88, currently of Kalamazoo, MI (formerly of Elmhurst and Lemont, IL)

Visitation will be held Monday, July 25 from 6-9pm at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park, IL.

Interment will be Tuesday at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL with a Graveside Service at 10 AM.

Mr. Halicke is survived by a daughter, Susan (Arthur) of Kalamazoo, MI; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) of Chicago, IL and Ryan of Chicago, IL; and three sisters, Dolores of Clarendon Hills, IL, Madeleine of Niles, IL and Patricia of Murrietta, CA.

His wife Elsie, his sister Helen and his brothers Theodore, Walter and Edward preceded Mr. Halicke in death.

Mr. Halicke was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army with the peacekeeping forces in Germany during the Korean War.  He was a long-time resident of Lemont, IL before moving to Elmhurst, IL in 1998. In 2014, he moved to Kalamazoo, MI. Mr. Halicke was a self-employed carpenter and builder until his retirement in about 2001. He loved gardening, cooking and sharing his knowledge with others. His family wishes to acknowledge the many caregivers who brought him companionship and encouragement throughout his later life.  We are forever grateful to those at Home Instead and Alamo Nursing Home for their compassion.

WeirANNE M. WEIR, nee Cortez, age 84, of Lombard, passed away July 20th at Chateau Center, Willowbrook, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 22 from 4 to 9 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home, to St. Pius X Church, 1025 East Madison Street, Lombard for 10 AM Mass.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Mrs. Weir is survived by six (6) daughters, Karen McDonald, Kathy Rice, Debra (Dan) Kinkade, Jaqueline (Marc) Krefft, Mary Beth Busch, and Susan (Brad) Morgan; twelve (12) grandchildren, Jennifer Teague, Nicholas Teague, Melissa Gavelek, Patrick Krefft, Michelle Barth, Tom Busch, Frank McDonald, Jessica Busch, Ryan Busch, Alex Morgan, Hannah Morgan, and Jeremy Morgan; and five (5) great-grandchildren, Jolene, Tristan, Mazie, Livia, and Tobias, Jr. “T.J.”.

Mrs. Weir is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard J.; and her son-in-law, Frank McDonald.

Anne was a resident of Lombard for 53 years.  She worked for many years at Glenbard East High School as a lunch lady.  Anne was also a long time member of St. Pius X Church in Lombard.  She was an amazing, feisty, stubborn, strong, funny, loving woman with the biggest heart.

Nancy M. Manna, age 77, of Lombard

Nancy Manna final (691x1024)NANCY M. MANNA, age 77, of Lombard, passed peacefully surrounded by family, July 15 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Beloved wife for 55 years of Robert A. Manna, Sr.  Mother of 6, Mary Ann Manna (Jim) Borst, Judy (John) Leeseberg, Robert, Jr. (Kim), Susan (Roger) Blackwell, Bill (Connie), and Thomas (Aidee).  Grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 1.  Sister to Geraldine (Ron) Ridley and Kenneth (Roseanne) Hoffswell.  Aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by one brother, Vernon A. Hoffswell, Jr.

Nancy was born May 4th, 1939 to the late Mary Hoffswell, nee Hennessey, and the late Vernon Hoffswell, Sr.  She was a lifelong resident of Lombard and married Robert Manna on September 3rd, 1960.  Nancy served her community as a Lombard Village Trustee for 8 years.  She was affectionately known as “The Sewer Lady” because she was instrumental in getting almost $7 million EPA dollars to install new sewers in Lombard.

Nancy was also involved with Sacred Heart Church and volunteered her time each week to say the Rosary with a group at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton  Nancy has spent many years making rosaries that are blessed and shipped all over the world.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21 from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Friday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard for 10 AM Mass.

Private Interment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum, Geneva, Illinois.

Debbie Zisk, nee Lange, age 51, of Lombard

DEBBIE ZISK, nee Lange, age 51, of Lombard, died July 17 at RML Specialty Hospital, Hinsdale, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20 from 3 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 21 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for 10:00 AM Mass.

Interment Private.

Mrs. Zisk is survived by her husband, Richard; two sons, Jonathan of Lombard, and Joseph (Kaylie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; her parents, Patricia and Gilbert Lange of Elmhurst; her brother, William Lange of Chicago; two sisters, Wendy (Daniel) Ward of Lombard, and Jennifer (David) Beitzel of Elmhurst; her mother and father-in-law, Raymond and LaVonne Zisk of Bloomingdale; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zisk was a resident of Lombard since 1988.  She grew up in Elmhurst and was a 1983 graduate of Willowbrook High School.  Mrs. Zisk had attended College of DuPage.  She worked for Elmhurst Hospital/Elmhurst Health Care for almost 25 years.

Mrs. Zisk was active with Boy Scout Troop 202 at Park View School.  She was an active member of Sacred Heart Church where she was part of the Blanket Group, Adoration Chapel, and taught Catechism.

Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Post Office Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908 would be appreciated.

 

James W. Alexander, age 84, of Lombard

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Mr. Alexander is survived by five children, David of Freeport, IL, Judith Alexander of Oak Park, Donna (Dan) Frazier of Dwight, IL, Mary (Jay) Zahn of Gurnee, and Bruce (Jackie) of Winfield; 11 grandchildren; his special niece, Kathy (Tim) Cline of Williamson, Iowa; and many other relatives.

Mr. Alexander is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his brother, Don; and his sister, Marilyn Stanley.

Mr. Alexander was a resident of Lombard since 1964.  He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Mr. Alexander had retired from IBM in 1992, after over 30 years.
