George J. “Greg” Mahoney, age 78

MAHONEY, age 78, died December 29 at DuPage Convalescent Center, Wheaton, Illinois.  Survived by his wife, Bonnie nee Brown Mahoney; his daughter, Heather (Ron Walker) Heggemann, his son, Terence (Andrea) Mahoney; grandsons, Liam Heggemann, Lawrence, Phillip, and Edward Witkowski; and his brothers, Michael (Linda) Mooney, and Patrick (Jacqueline) Mooney.

Greg was born April 28, 1938 at Oak Park Hospital, Oak Park, Illinois and was raised in Oak Park.  He was schooled at St. Catherine of Siena Elementary and Fenwick High School, both in Oak Park.  He was a graduate of St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor degree in journalism.

Greg was a Veteran and served four years of active duty assigned to the communications group of Ninth Air Force Tactical Air Command at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina.  He was honorably discharged and awarded The Air Force Commendation Medal.

Greg was employed for a number of years at Chicago’s west suburban newspaper company, Press Publications, initially as a reporter, lastly as editor before departing to create his own writing and publishing company.

A private family burial will be held Friday, 1/6/17 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, a public Mass will be held at St. Pius X, in Lombard at 10:30 AM on Saturday, 1/7/17, followed by a private, family luncheon.

Cherished grandmother of 4, Matthew, Kathy, Kristine, and Melissa. Great-grandmother of Connor and Gabriella. Dearest sister of Loretta (the Late Frank) Tylinisk and the Late Julia, Edward, Henry, and Edmond. Aunt and great-aunt of many.

Funeral services Wednesday, January 4 with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard to Christ the King Church, Lombard, for a 10 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3 from 4 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, Lombard.


KENNETH H. MOREEN, age 94, of Lombard

Moreen, age 94, of Lombard 15 years, died December 25 at his home.  Loving father of Gail (Michael) Wojtkunski, Steven (Peter Florack), Scott (Jody), Jill (Brad) Severe, Kim (Tony) Zawislak, and Kenneth, Jr. (Belinda). Cherished grandfather of 14, Erin (Jacob) Gould, Krista (Brian) Willing, Rebecca, Joshua, David, Jonathan (Angela), Daniel, Brittany (Cliff) Roberts, Kayla, Adam, Daniel, Joshua Zawislak, Narrra, and Axel. Great-grandfather of 5, Emin, Brenna, Harper, Lillian, and Mason. Dear brother of Gwendolyn (the late Ernest) Sullivan and Phyllis (The late Ronald) Kapp.  Uncle and great-uncle of many.

Mr. Moreen was a longtime Glen Ellyn Rotarian.  He was formerly a member of the Glen Ellyn Covenant Church.  Mr. Moreen was currently a member of the First Church of Lombard.

Marion Francis “Skip” Heaver, age 91, of Lombard

Skip was born in Sandoval, IL on May 20, 1925.  He died at home in Lombard, IL on December 2016 surrounded by family.  Skip grew up in the Sandoval/Centralia area, attended Sandoval High School and moved out to Seattle to work in the shipyards.  He was drafted and served in the US Army during WWII serving in North Africa, Italy and France. PFC Marion F. Heaver of the 7th Infantry 3rd Division was discharged after being wounded in France. Skip received three Bronze Battle Stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart.  Skip returned to Centralia and worked at a local bank.

He moved the family to the Chicago suburbs in the late 1960’s.  He worked at Prefinished Metals in Elk Grove Village in the shipping department until retiring.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He especially loved his dogs.  He was preceded in death by his parents Eva McClelland Heaver Merten, William Edward Heaver and his step father Dean W. Merten.

Skip  is survived by his son, Michael Dean (Kim) Heaver and Daughter Janice Katherine (Tom) Broadfoot; grandchildren, Sean (Christine) Heaver, Shelton “Skip” Heaver, Sarah Katherine Broadfoot, Daniel Michael Broadfoot, Emily AnnMarie Broadfoot and great grandson Benjamin Heaver.   He also leaves behind longtime friend Clarence “Bud” Ferguson and his dog Snow.

Robert Stacey, age 54, of Lombard Il, passed away Friday, December 16. 2016.

He was a loyal husband, wonderful father and overall great man who touched the lives of far more than he ever realized.

He is preceded in death by his son Daniel, his sister Harriett Maxine Walker, his parents Doris Keaton Stacey and Irwin Stacey.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Kaye” Stacey, his children, Colleen Stacey and Joshua Walker, his sisters Karen Stacey, Josie Muston and Doris Jean Navarro, and many Nieces and Nephews.

Stacey will be missed by many.

A small memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, December 21st from 4pm – 8pm.

Michelle had a long and valiant career busting dirt bag fraudsters.  You never had to worry whether or not your money was safe because Michelle was busy battling Nigerian lotto and email phishing scams around the clock.  When she wasn’t fighting financial crime, Michelle would be found demonstrating her badass kickboxing skills, long distance running, or just being an all around rock star wife, mother, grandma, and friend.
