CannovaKathleen P. Cannova nee Pinto, age 62, of Oak Brook, passed away June 29, 2017.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, July 8th from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at Holy Ghost Church, 254 N. Wood Dale Rd, Wood Dale, IL 60101. Luncheon following at Ruth Lake Country Club, 6200 S. Madison St, Hinsdale, IL 60521. Inurnment will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Vincent; her treasured dogs, Irish, Maggie and the late Jackie; her cherished brother, Thomas Pinto; her dear in-laws, Millie Pietrini, Joseph Cannova, Angeline Cannova, Rose (Fritz) Eymann; her loving  nieces and nephews, Dennis (Elaine) Pietrini, Richard (Angeles) Pietrini, Janet Pietrini, Robert Pietrini and Marie Orlowski, Tami Eymann, Renee Eymann, Randy (Sandra) Eymann; her dearest great-nieces and nephews, Roy (Jennie) Prochaska, Michael (Debby) Robertson, Joseph (Katy) Pietrini, Anthony (Michelle) Pietrini, Robert Jr. (Eleni) Pietrini, Thomas (Lauren) Pietrini, Henry Eymann and Eloise Eymann; and her adored great-great nieces and nephews, Lily and Joey Prochaska, Dylan and Drew Robertson, Gianna, Vincenzo and Carmine Pietrini, Anthony Jr. and Dominic Pietrini, Landon Pietrini.

Kathy was also Godmother to Michael Chappetto, Matthew Shield and Jimmy Elsers. She will also be sincerely missed by the deCarlo, Lemley and Elsers families, several cousins and many, many friends.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Catherine Pinto and her brother-in-law, Samuel Pietrini.

Kathy began her securities career in 1974 as secretary to Senior Partner Harry A Baum at Wayne Hummer & Co.  In 1977,  Bud Lemley returned to Chicago to assist Mr. Baum and to work with Kathy in this endeavor.

In 1983, Kathy and Bud moved their clients to The Chicago Corporation. In 1986, Kathy, Bud and Don Yarling founded Lemley Yarling & Co, a broker-dealer and money management firm, offering investment advice and money management services.

For 31 years Kathy ran the back office operations of the firm, doing what she did best, keeping clients happy.

She will be missed forever.

James Victor Kolb, age 80, of Lombard

KolbJames Victor Kolb, age 80, of Lombard passed away June 20th, 2017. James is survived by his daughter Donna; his son-in-law, John; and his two granddaughters, Nicole and Andrea.


James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the company of family and friends. James served in the United States Army, 1st Battle Group, 32nd Infantry in Korea. James was an expert Marksman (rifle and bar) in the Military. James was a very knowledgeable man on a wide range of subjects. You could ask him anything and he could tell you facts and stories that would keep you entertained for hours. James was a person you learned a lot from.


James was a very skilled artist who not only drew landscapes and animals but carved wood, was skilled at wood burning pictures and created one-of-a-kind pieces from the scroll saw. He went by the name “The Scrollman.” He had his own workshop where the wonderful pieces of art were made. He spent countless hours making different pieces for fun as well as selling his pieces at local craft fairs.


Through all of these sudden hardships, he is at peace and he is with his loving wife, Frances.


In honoring James’ life, Wake services will be Thursday, June 22nd from 4:00-8:00pm at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23rd at 10:00am at Brust Funeral Home. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery to follow after services.

Sheila C. Palese, age 62

PaleseSheila C. Palese, age 62, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL.

Visitation will be Monday, June 19th from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10 AM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Sheila was born on March 31, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Michael Palese and Beatrice nee Anderson. She joined the Marklund family in October, 1988. Sheila was a resident of the Marklund Sayer’s Home.

Phyllis J. Burckle nee Arndt, age 84 of Lombard,

Burckle, PhyllisPhyllis J. Burckle nee Arndt, age 84 of Lombard, passed away April 28 at Lombard Place.

A memorial service will be held June 22 at 11AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 E. Madison St, Lombard.  Interment will be private at Memory Gardens Cemetery

Phyllis is survived by her children Erik (Lindy) Burckle and Jane (Tony) Moran; her grandchildren Alex, Jack, Zach, Rachel, Molly and Shannon; and niece Tammy (Jim) Mangelli.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Irene Arndt; her sister Eileen (Robert) Wilkinson and ex-husband Robert Burckle.

Phyllis was a graduate of Blackburn College.  She taught Language Arts in Downers Grove and Lombard.  She was the Christian Education Director at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and then worked at Glenbard East High School for many years.   Phyllis was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading, entertaining, traveling and the Arts.

Joe William Peel, aged 88, died peacefully on Sunday June 11, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois.  Mr. Peel was born on November 12, 1928 in his maternal grandmother’s house in Erie, Kansas, and was the only son of the late George Franklin Peel and Fern Corrine (Pugh) Peel.

He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Bromich), father of William Henry Peel (Melanie), and Barbara Ann Pletsch (Joseph); and grandfather of Megan Barag (Aaron), Emily Peel, Kyle Pletsch and Jacob Pletsch, as well as a beloved brother-in-law and uncle.

Having grown up in Pittsburg, Kansas, Mr. Peel graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg in 1950.  From there he joined the U. S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge in 1953.  After serving with the Marines, Mr. Peel began work with the Kansas Highway Patrol and also began law school at Washburn University of Topeka, graduating in 1955.  Upon graduation, Mr. Peel worked for the Kansas Insurance Department, and then was recruited by the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) to work in their Chicago office.  He earned the title of Vice President and General Counsel of the HIAA during a distinguished 32 year career.

Mr. Peel enjoyed playing golf, travelling extensively with his wife and doting on his grandchildren.  At the time of his death, Mr. Peel was a resident of Lexington Square of Lombard.  A memorial service for Mr. Peel will be held in the Hyde Park Room at Lexington Square of Lombard at 555 Foxworth Boulevard, Lombard, Illinois on Sunday June 25 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 4700 West 17th Street in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, July 22 at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations go to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org, in honor of Mary Ann Peel.

Albert Rus, age 86, of Lombard

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from 3 – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard. Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 15th at 10:30 AM at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mr. Rus is survived by his beloved children, William (Claire) of Arizona and Debra Rus of Lombard; his loving grandchildren, Nina (Bobby) Wilkerson of Texas, Melanie Jenkins of Downers Grove, William Albert Rus of Wheaton, Joseph Michael Rus of Lombard, Edward Rus of Arizona, and Samantha Rus of Arizona; and his dear great-grandchildren, Faith Wilkerson of Texas and Savanna Wilkerson of Texas.

Mr. Rus is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and his brother, Joseph.

Mr. Rus was born in Chicago and graduated from DePaul University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War. Mr. Rus was an Accountant for United Airlines. He was a member of C.S.A. Fraternal Life.

Eugene E. Jenzen, age 86, of Lombard

American_Flag_x300EUGENE E. JENZEN, age 86, of Lombard, died June 8 at Beacon Hill, Lombard, Illinois.

Mr. Jenzen is survived by his wife, Marguerita, nee Zielske; three children, Barbara DiRienzo, Sandra (Jim) Sullivan, and David (Julie) Jenzen; eight grandchildren, Tony DiRienzo, Nick (Mara) DiRienzo and Christine (Erik) Petersen, Shannon (Josh) Hedman and Kelli (Doug Rouse, Fiancé) Sullivan, and Michael, Steven, and Kaylee Jenzen; great-grandchildren, Penny and Dexter Hedman; his sister, Darlene (Charles) Wingard; brother-in-laws, Robert (Jackie) Zielske, William (Anita) Zielske, and the late Ronald (Maky) Zielske; many nephews and nieces; and many friends.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 16, at 10 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 South Lincoln, Lombard.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Eugene Erwin Jenzen was born on May 15, 1931 in Elmhurst, Illinois.  He was the son the Late Leslie Jenzen and Alice, nee Heinke.  His grandparents (Fredrick Heinke and Ella Geils) came to Lombard in the late 1800’s and lived on a farm at the corner of Grace and North Avenue (now the Lombard Lagoon).

He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church in Lombard.  Mr. Jenzen was a graduate of grade school at St. John’s, Glenbard West High School, and the Illinois Institute of Technology as an Electrical engineer.

Gene was a Veteran and served on the Aircraft Carrier, Hornet, during the Korean War.

He was an active member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, serving as chairman of congregation, financial secretary, and elder.  Gene’s parents and grandparents were members of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Gene was employed for 45 years at Syntronic Instruments, Inc. of Addison as Electrical Engineer and Vice President of Engineering.  His most challenging project was designing a part for the camera that went to the Moon and transmitted pictures back to Earth.

Gene enjoyed gardening, fixing things, anything with regard to engineering and spending time with his grandchildren.

Joshua B. Faillo, age 46, of Lombard

Loving son of Dennis (Mary), Sr. of Florida and Susan (Bruce) Johnson off Marengo, Illinois.  Dearest stepson of Steven Musto of St. Charles, Illinois. Dear brother of Dennis, Jr. of Lombard, Michael (Mary) of Villa Park, Annie (Randy) Ahrens of Lombard, Dawn (James) Wright of Indiana, Max (Josie) Musto of Hawaii, Jillian (Dave) Stucker of LaGrange.  Uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Dear brother-in-law of Colleen (Brian) Kramer of Lombard. Son-in-law of Ron and Pat Guidolin of Florida.

Joshua grew up in Lombard.  He had gone to Schafer Elementary School, Jefferson Jr. High, was a 1989 graduate of Willowbrook High School and a 1999 graduate of Elmhurst College.  Joshua was a Certified Chef and had attended Culinary School at C.O.D.  He worked for Nestle Foods as Regional Manager.

Joshua was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Marines from 1991 to 1994 in Japan.

Joshua was a member of the American Legion in Elmhurst.  He was a member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church where he was an A-Team Dart player and active with their golf outing.  Joshua was a racquetball player and loved to cook.

*Joshua loved bands like The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Journey, and Boston so during his Memorial Visitation at Brust Funeral Home, the family would like you to wear your favorite band T-Shirt instead of more formal attire.

Ms. Lavedas is survived by her beloved daughter, McKenzie Martinez; her loving mother, Roberta (Mark) Beckman-Lukaszek; her cherished sisters and brother, Katheryne (Brian) Meador, Anna Sandri and Thomas Lavedas; her nephews, Marshall and Hunter Meador; and many cousins. Julian Martinez, father of McKenzie Martinez.
