Joseph Chester Hertelendi, ‘J.C.’, age 70, of Lombard

Joseph Chester Hertelendi, J.C., dearest son of the late Rose (nee Fiatarone) and Joseph Hertelendi, dearest brother of the late Frank Hertelendi, dearest godson of Louise Luchetta (nee Fiatarone) died suddenly on November 5, 2017.  He is the dear cousin and fond friend of many.  J.C. graduated from Glenbard East High School.  A longtime resident of Lombard, Illinois, for most of his life, J.C. enjoyed the company of family and many friends.  He loved music, good food, friends and cars, often attending the many car shows in Lombard and the surrounding suburbs.  J.C. was a gentle and caring soul, frequently caring for others and helping with medical visits and errands.  He will always be remembered for his gentle spirit.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017, from 3:00-9:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL; Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 9 at 10:00 AM at Brust Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, IL.

LaVerne A. Kelso, age 93, of Lombard

KelsoLaVerne Alice Kelso (nee Lahn) was born May 24, 1924, the only child of Lillian (nee Schalk) and Elmer Lahn.  She was baptized LaVerne Alice Bertha Lahn in Chicago on 6/7/24.  She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lombard on 4/10/38. She graduated from St. John’s Lutheran Grade School in Lombard on 6/17/38.  LaVerne graduated from York Community High School in Elmhurst on 6/15/42.  She then attended Bryant & Stratton Secretarial College and graduated on 11/24/42.  She retired from the American Foundrymen’s Society in Des Plaines on 1/4/89, after 45 years of dedicated service in an administrative management role.  After retirement, she worked part time at BMO Harris Bank for 14 years in an administrative role.  She was a long-time resident of Lombard and loved to travel both internationally and domestically.  LaVerne was very devoted to her parents and their care, right up until their passing.  She also enjoyed gardening and socializing with many friends.  Many of us often enjoyed her exquisite taste, quick wit, vast vocabulary, and profound knowledge of the Bible.  She was a long time member of St. John’s in Lombard and loved to sing in church and the church choir.  LaVerne was also a  member of LWML. Her faith remained strong throughout her life.

LaVerne was taken home to our Heavenly Father on 11/3/17.

Our gratitude is extended to her pastors, relatives, friends, and caregivers; who were with her and helped ease her discomfort here on Earth.

LaVerne will be lying-in-state on Saturday, November 11th from 9:30 AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard. Private Interment will be held at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Ev. Lutheran Capital Fund, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard, are appreciated.

Visitation will be held Sunday 2 – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be held Monday, lying-in-state from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 211 S. Lincoln Ave, Lombard. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Northlake.

Ida is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathryn Sheldon of Lombard; her dear son-in-law, Ronald Ball of Indiana; her loving grandchild, Donald (Lynn) of Villa Park; her cherished great-grandchildren, Angel Deeds of Naperville and Ashley Ball of Lombard; and her dear nieces and nephews, Jan (Ron) Bakes of Warrenville, John Hoefle of California, Rosemary (Franciso) Gonzalez of California and Denise Hoefle of Engleside.; many other relatives

Ida is preceded in death by her husband, Donald E.; her daughter, Rosemarie Ball; her grandson, Brian and her nephew, George Hoefle.

Ida was born in Germany. She had been a resident of Lombard since 1964. Ida retired from Sid Harvey Industries in Lombard in 1981. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Ida was an avid reader and enjoyed camping and gardening.

Marion ‘Moe’ J. Felske, age 97 died October 29, 2017 at his home in Hickory Hills.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 4 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, with a Funeral Service at 10 AM. Interment will be private.

Moe is survived by his son, Jerome and two daughters, JoAnne (Norbert) Mateja and Karen (James, Jr.) Iversen; nine grandchildren, Jerry Felske, Lori Garner, Jenny Zavala, Wally Waksmacki, Joe Waksmacki, Marion Cannici, Michael Mateja, Jennette Faragoi, JoAnne Moberg; and 21 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Loretta.
