Sarah E. Rotar, age 16, of Lombard

Sunday, December 31st, 2017

RotarSarah E. Rotar, age 16, of Lombard, died on December 29th, 2017 after a 16 month battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 from 3-9pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL. Funeral services will start at Noon on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 at Brust Funeral Home, followed by a procession to Forest Hill Cemetery in Glen Ellyn.

Sarah is survived by her loving parents Joe and Elizabeth (Clark), her sister Samantha, her brother Joseph (Joey), grandparents Ralph and Jane (Austin) Clark, her very close great aunt Jenny Austin, and many, many, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Sarah grew up in Lombard. She went to Park View Elementary School, Glenn Westlake Middle School, and also Glenbard East High School. She was a focused young lady with aspirations to become a pediatric surgeon. She cared for her grades and was her hardest critic on herself. There was no one more dedicated and focused than Sarah. She missed her freshman year of high school because of her illness and she was hurt emotionally that she could not do any work while having treatments. She often cried that she would not graduate on time with her friends.

Sarah was the happiest student when she was able to physically go to school. Though she had no hair and braces on her legs, she still walked through her high school halls proud. She was confident in who she was and why she was there. She didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for her. She appreciated all of the compliments and words of encouragement and would come home and share them all.

Sarah was the most loving young lady. She loved her brother and sister so much. She was their biggest fan and would support them and look after them in every way. She was also a loyal friend. She was so sad when her friends bickered and never wanted to choose a side. Feelings were important to her and she never hurt anyone nor wanted to be hurt in return. She had many friends but she cherished the bond with all the members of “SQUAD”. It made her cry when friends left the group. She never lost contact with any of the people that touched her life.

In elementary school she loved to run so she did track for a year in middle school. Though she was shy and timid when it came to large crowds, she wanted to perform. So she joined drama club and performed in plays the next two years.

Sarah loved to go camping and would count down the days until she got to go. She loved when she could go down to Lafayette, IN to see her “Indianian” cousins and run around on their goat farm. Shopping was also a favorite. She would look forward to going to Gurnee Mills on the annual family Christmas shopping trip. She was the biggest GLEE fan and she melted away when she got to meet Chris Colfer who was her favorite actor. There was no bigger Blackhawks fan than Sarah. She was speechless when she got to meet her favorite player Patrick Kane. She also had the time of her life when she got to go on her Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World in Florida. She was so happy and it gave her strength and hope for the future.
