Violet Tellalian nee Hagopian, 89 of Lombard

Tellalian-VioletViolet Tellalian nee Hagopian, 89 of Lombard passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018.  She was born on June 20, 1928 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  Beloved wife of the late Edward. Devoted mother of Dorothy (James) Lang, Martin and Nancy Tellalian (Robert) Schroder. Devoted grandmother of Jennifer (Brent), Jeffrey (Kate), Amanda (Stewart), Dan, Allison and Amy. Cherished great grandmother of Madison, Dylan, Hailey, Parker, Ellie, Brooks and Caroline. Dearest sister of George Hagopian of Pittsburgh, PA. Aunt and great aunt of many.   Violet was born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island by her late parents Deroohe nee Ohanian and George Hagopian Sr with her brothers Hagop, Avedis, and George and her sister Mary.

Violet met her future husband, Edward Tellalian, while visiting an aunt and other family members in Pittsburgh when she was 19.  They were married a year later on July 11, 1948.   She moved to Pittsburgh and lived with her in-laws during those early years while Eddie was in college.  Violet and Eddie had two children Dorothy and Martin while living in Pittsburgh and in November, 1954 moved to Oak Park, IL for 6 months and then moved to Forest Park, IL for 9 years.  Their third child Nancy was born while the family lived in Forest Park.   They moved to Lombard in 1964 and Violet spent the rest of her life in that home.   She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with her friends and working in the garden, especially with her roses.   She was known for her very friendly and gregarious personality and when she walked into a room full of people or at a store, everyone she engaged was her friend, entertained and better for spending time with her. No one ever left her home hungry.

A Visitation will be held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, on Monday, April 30, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 1 at 10:00 AM at the Armenian All Saints Apostolic Church, 1701 North Greenwood Road, Glenview, IL 60026 with interment following at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, 17W201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

June D. Duros-Silber, RN, age 85, formerly of Lombard, died April 26 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Wednesday, May 2, from 4-8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment private.

June is survived by her loving children, Kevin (Debbie), Keither (the late Sheryl), John (Kris), Debbie nee Duros (Michael) Slechta and Scott Sr. (Shari); 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Earl Silber, MD; her father, Edward F. Devereux; her mother, Ann Harris; and 2 grandchildren, Scotty Jr. and Stuart.

June was a retired Nurse Practitioner.

Carmen J. Guido, age 94, of Naperville, formerly of Lisle and Lombard

Guido 3American_Flag_x300Carmen J. Guido, age 94, of Naperville, formerly of Lisle and Lombard, passed away April 21, 2018.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 24, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 25 with Mr. Guido Lying-In-State from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville.  Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

He was the beloved husband of the late Louise nee Varchetta. Loving father of Frances (Steve) Marino of North Riverside and Carmen S. Guido of Aurora. Loving Grandfather of 7 and Great Grandfather of 7. Brother of Joe (Norma) Sansone of Cicero.  Many other relatives.  Preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters.

Carmen had lived in Berwyn from 1956 into the 1970’s when he moved to Lombard.  He lived in Lombard for over 25 years before moving to Lisle, where he lived from 2007-2013.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Pacific in Korea during World War II.  Carmen worked as a printer for the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board and retired in 1979.  He was a member of VFW Post 2378.

Vera Mae Kruse, nee Brumme, age 97, of Villa Park

KruseVera Mae Kruse, nee Brumme, age 97, of Villa Park, died April 19.

Vera Kruse, born 8-8-1920 in Cooksville IL, was the youngest of four children born to Frank Julius and Stella Mae (Baum) Brumme. She peacefully passed away April 19, 2018 in the home of her son/caretaker Ken Kruse of Villa Park. She is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Leonard Kruse, daughters Vera Lou (Brad) Ficken and Janet (Wade) Graunke, and granddaughter Stephanie Kruse.

Vera is survived by her children Leonard (Claudia), Kenneth, Thomas (Karen), Timothy (Brenda), Jeanne (Chris) Jurrens, and Jonathan (Diana) Kruse. “Ma Kruse” was the mother of eight. She was a dedicated labor and delivery nurse at Elmhurst Hospital for 30+ years, avid knitter, musician, and excellent homemaker. To her cherished 39 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, “Grammy” was a fun-loving, multi-talented, woman of faith, character, practicality and common sense. She loved to sing, laugh, and make her home a welcome place for all. The countless hours she devoted to teaching her children to be strong, God-fearing, contributors to society will have a lasting effect.

A memorial service is scheduled Friday, April 27 at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton, Villa Park from 4-7:00 pm, and a funeral service Saturday, April 28 10:30 am at Cityview Community Church 343 S. York Road (corner of York & St. Charles) Elmhurst.

Mary Theresa Thacker, nee McCafferty, age 81, of Lombard, passed away April 15, 2018.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 26th, at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, 4801 Main St., Downers Grove.

Mrs. Thacker is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa (Jack) Walczak; her dear sister, Pauline (Bobby) McGinley and her sister-in-law, Patsy McCafferty.

Mrs. Thacker is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas McCafferty.

Mrs. Thacker was a volunteer in Girl Scouts. She was a wonderful mother and an all-around great person.

Mrs. Wick is survived by her beloved children, Thomas (Tish), Grant (Colleen), and Ted (Renee); her cherished grandchildren, Amanda(Christopher) Jones, Molly, Joshua, Danielle, Andrew, Erich, Blake and Brooks (Kristen); her loving great-grandchildren, Adria, Thomas, and Lincoln; her dear brother, Gerald (Annette) Janssen; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wick is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. and her brother, Allen.

Edward H. Moritz, age 95, of Montgomery, formerly of Lombard

Moritz-EdwardEdward H. Moritz, 95, of Montgomery, formerly of Lombard, passed away on April 11 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora surrounded by family.  He is a WWII Veteran and served in the army in the Philippines. He used to love playing golf and bowling and liked watching the Cubs. He could repair anything and always loved a good hot cup of coffee and had a good sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Barbara.  Beloved father of Susan (Frank) Matranga, Nancy (Ron) Iaccino and Edward J. (Linda) Moritz; dear grandfather of Kristina (Peter) Kaufman, Marcus Moritz and Allison Moritz; and great-grandfather of Charlotte Kaufman; and friend to many.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Logan, nee Monroe, age 88 of West Chicago, died April 9 at Central DuPage Hospital.  Beloved wife of the late John A.; loving mother of Daryl (Diane), Marilyn (Rich) Pollina, Linda (Jim) Andrews and Louise Johnson; cherished grandmother of Kathy (Greg), Daryl Jr., Paul (Cristin), John (Rachel), Stephanie (Brent), Jacquelin (Jack), Alex (Heidi), Jennifer, Jay (Kelly); great-grandmother of 9, Brooklyn, Henry, Molly, Troy, Paisley, Logan, John, Montrel, Bryce and one on the way; dearest sister of Carol (the late Paul) Sutek, Evelyn (the late Joe) French, Nancy (Clarney) Meyers, Frank, Dianne (Larry) Thull, Earl, Dennis (Judie), the late Maxine (the late Louis) Mach, the late Rex (the late Dory), the late Edward (Patricia); aunt and great aunt.

Shirley was a loving woman who spent her life caring and helping others. She was born in Marysville, Mo. When she was 1 she moved to Dunbar WI where she grew up with her 10 siblings. Her and her siblings helped pump gas at her parents gas station.

She met John Logan in Dunbar and married in 1948 where they owned a farm. Shirley, John and their 2 children moved to Illinois in 1951 where John started a home construction business. She worked beside her husband building houses while raising their 4 children.

She loved gardening and sewing. In 1983 they retired back to Dunbar, WI. John and Shirley enjoyed being a member of the American Legion with many of their childhood friends. Shirley enjoyed being Secretary for the Women’s Auxiliary and helping make pies and selling them at the Fireman’s picnic in Pembine, WI. She spent the last 10 years of her life living in Franciscan Court Supportive Living in Illinois. Where she enjoyed spending time doing activities with the other residents and living close to her daughters.

Visitation Saturday, April 14, from 10 AM until time of Service at 2 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment in Wisconsin.

Anthony (Tony) Fojtik, age 81, formerly of Lombard, and a resident of Batavia

fojtikAnthony (Tony) Fojtik, age 81, formerly of Lombard, and a resident of Batavia, passed away April 2, 2018.  Tony was the former owner of a flower shop in Forest Park.  He was best known for his sense of humor and antics that made people laugh.

Anthony was the beloved husband of Carol Fojtik nee Dalton and loving father of Paula (Dominik) Weisserth. He was the adoring grandfather of Fiona, Claire and Liam Weisserth, the son of Rudolph and Pauline Fojtik and brother of the late Anne Maks, the late Rudy Fojtik and fond brother to Joseph (Erika) Fojtik, many nieces and nephews and his “adopted son”, Mike Crimmin.

He was born in Chicago and attended Austin High School and Wilbur Wright Junior College.  He will surely be missed by family and friends.  As a former ballroom dance instructor, Tony could really “cut a rug” and especially enjoyed a polka.  In years past, he enjoyed singing karaoke, especially Sinatra and Tony Bennett, his look-alike, songs.

A Visitation will be held at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, on Friday, April 6, from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 7, with 9:30 AM Prayers at the funeral home to Sacred Heart Church for 10:00 AM Mass.  Interment will follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery.
