George W. Zorn, age 75, of Lombard

ZornGeorge W. Zorn, age 75, of Lombard, died December 29th, 2018.

His visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019, from 2-6 pm, with a short service at 4:30, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 Main Street in Lombard, IL. Interment will be private.

George was the devoted husband of Mary for 46 years, the beloved father of Michael (Megan) of Wheaton and SSG Martin (Dora) currently serving our country in Italy, the dear brother of David (late Gail) and Joyce (Hank Jaffe), and the cherished grandfather of Ashley, Caroline, and Jillian.

George grew up in Elmhurst, and attended York and Willowbrook High Schools. He graduated Eureka College in 1965 with a degree in accounting.   He played football throughout high school and college.  He then served in the army for two years at Fort Polk Louisiana. He later started his career in accounting, and moved to Lombard in 1980, where he remained a proud resident for the rest of his life.

George retired in 2008 at the age of 65. He loved to watch sports and was also an avid White Sox fan, and his passion for watching sports was exceeded only by his love for his family.

OderAmerican_Flag_1_x1000Alden “Al” W. Oder, age 81 of Lombard, died Wednesday, December 26, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

A Memorial Gathering will be Sunday, December 30, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Interment will be private at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, Illinois. Mr. Oder will be buried next to his beloved wife of 50 years, Dorothy, who preceded him in death in 2013. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Doyle & Mayme Oder.

Mr. Oder was the loving father of two daughters, Catherine A. (Michael) Rott of Aurora and Christine M. (Mark) Brawley of Arlington Heights; and the adored grandfather of four grandchildren, Ethan, Elizabeth, Sara & Sean. He is the brother in-law of Carl and Maryann Dugo.

Mr. Oder had been a resident of Lombard for 52 years and retired from Engelhard Mineral & Chemical Company. He served in the United States Army and was a long-time member of the Lombard Jaycees.

The family would like to thank all of his neighbors who helped Al out. We greatly appreciate all of the acts of kindness throughout the years.

Jack was the cherished husband of Beverly nee Eldridge; dear father of John J. (Connie) of Aurora, Laura (Steve) Gallagher of Georgia, Doug of Wheaton and Tom of Wheaton; grandfather of 9: Jessica (Robert) Veltman of DeKalb, Melissa (Carlos) Perez of Carol Stream, Michael Gallagher of Georgia, Olivia Adams of Winnetka, Christian Adams of Naperville, Tyler Adams of Joliet, Ryan Gallagher of Chicago, Justin Adams of Joliet, Hayden Adams of Iowa; great-grandfather of 5; and many other relatives.

Jack is a native of Chicago’s Burnside and West Pullman neighborhood. Jack had lived in Huntley for 3 years.  Prior to that he lived in Lombard for 15 years and in Bartlett for 13 years.

Hedwig M. J. Lindsey nee Koene, age 96, of Lombard

Main St., Lombard.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 28, with 9:30 AM Prayers at Brust Funeral Home to 10:15 AM Mass at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 330 N. Westmore Ave., Villa Park.  Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.

Hattie was the loving wife of the late Dr. Robert L. Lindsey; dearest mother of Ronald of Tennessee, the late Paul (Chris) of Nevada, Yolanda (Joe) Pszotka of Lombard and Angela of Bloomingdale; fond grandmother of Ron (Christy) of Tennessee, Pamela of Georgia, April (Dave) Panfil of Lombard, Nicholas (Caroline) of Nevada, James (Lorie) of Georgia, Becky (Lance) Mountain of Nevada and Marcia Lindsey of Washington State; great-grandmother of 11 and great-great-grandmother of 3.  She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Hattie provided foster care for infants.  She was a member of the Women’s Club at St. John the Apostle Church.  She was the St. John the Apostle Woman of the Year in 2016.  She was a member of the Meadowlark Quilting group in Lombard.  Hattie was a former President of the Lombard Park District Seniors.  Her husband was an active member of the Glenbard East High School faculty.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 330 N. Westmore Ave., Villa Park, IL 60181 would be appreciated.

Jerzy is survived by his beloved wife, Dorota; his loving children, Dariusz (Elizabeth Zur) Bogucki of Villa Park, Daria (Jaroslaw) Krecisz of Mt. Prospect, and Natalia (William Cooper) Bogucki; his cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Mikaila, Jacob, and George; his dear brother, Krzysztof (Danuta) of Poland and dear sister, Elzbieta (Mariusz) Skibowski of Addison; many nieces and nephews.

Jerzy had been a Villa Park resident since 1995. He was a machinist for various manufacturing companies. Jerzy attended of the Divine Mercy Polish Mission Church. He loved crossword puzzles, reading, sports, history, and politics. Jerzy was a great handyman who could fix anything.

Yvonne was the beloved wife of the late Ross H; dear mother of Karen (Rick) Tippett of Elizabeth, Russell P. (Debi) of Medina, Ohio, and Cathy Peterson of Lombard; grandmother of six; and great-grandmother of eight.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Sylester; a granddaughter, Samantha Peterson; and a brother, Paul.

Yvonne had been a Lombard resident for 61 years.  She was retired and had worked for Hancock Fabrics.  She loved sewing, doll houses, flowers and gardening.  Yvonne was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Villa Park.

Art is survived by his beloved wife, Janet nee Schrachta; his children Deborah Downing, Christine Usdrowski, Karen (Tim) Oetjens, David (Kim) Stemm and Cheryl Strickert; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Art worked at Walgreen’s for 37 years.  He enjoyed bowling and jigsaw puzzles but especially liked playing the slot machines on the river boats.

Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marion E. nee Muir; his beloved children, Linda (James) Smith of Warrenville, Steven (Cathy) Hanzelin of Naperville and Carol (Ántoine) Taylor of Berwyn and the late Peter John Hanzelin; his fond grandchildren Shakina, Henry, Olivia, Nathan and Natalie; his dear brother Fred (Judith) of Olympia Fields; nine nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

Ronald had been a Lombard resident since 1973.  He grew up in Berwyn and Elmhurst.  He was a 1955 graduate of York High School and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1960 with a BS in Accounting.  He received his MBA from Northern Illinois University.

Ronald had been a longtime accountant for various firms.  He was active at Lombard Bible Church where he served as Treasurer.  He also has been active for 38 years at the Chapel in the Woods in Woodhaven, IL, and served as Treasurer there also.  He was in the Church Service Brigade.  He was a Little League Coach with the Lombard Boys League.
