Barbara Gail Moore nee Cronin, age 72, of Leesburg, FL

Sunday, January 6th, 2019

MooreIt is with a heavy heart that we announce Barbara Gail Moore (nee Cronin), age 72, of Leesburg, FL (formerly of Mokena, Hazel Crest, and Park Forest, IL) has died.

Barbara loved people. She could talk for an hour to a stranger she just met as easily as she could talk to one of her many close friends, including the group lovingly labeled “The Coven.” Because she so freely met as many people as she could, it was not uncommon for her to run into someone she recognized wherever she went, both locally and far from home. She met them as a sports mom. She met them in the community. She met them at St. Anne’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches. She met them at work as a cashier, a waitress, a bank teller, and a receptionist. She met them at Legacy in Florida.

She so dearly loved her parents (Mary Jayne and Bernard Cronin) and her sisters (Kathy Melone, Debbie Race, Pat King and Mary Beth Bruton). It gave her so much joy to get together with them to talk for hours, reminisce and laugh.

But, more than anything, Barbara loved her husband of 52 years, Daniel. There was no Barb or Dan. It was always Barb and Dan. They met and started dating in their teen years, she a student at Marian Catholic High School and he a student at Rich East High School. Ever since their first date, they were inseparable. They went to the store together. They traveled the country together, and they took countless trips to Disney World together.

What they did best together, though, was create a family they were so very proud of. Their four children (Carolyn Grey, Christine Flynn, Timothy Moore, and Ryan Moore) and their spouses (George, Tom, Cathy and Lisa) were Barbara’s favorite topic of discussion. She was incredibly proud to introduce them to any person she met and this pride only grew as she became a grandmother. Her 12 grandchildren (Grace, Audrey, Sophia, Daniel, Annabel, Veronica, Georgie, Sydney, Gianna, Aiden, Lilah, and Kellan) quickly became her new favorite topic of discussion and continued through the rest of her life.  She will be dearly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 13 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, IL. Family and friends will meet at Sacred Heart Catholic Church(, 114 South Elizabeth Street, Lombard, IL) Monday morning for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment will follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
