Betty R. Lawrence, 83, of Rock Falls, formerly of Lombard

Betty R. Lawrence, 83, of Rock Falls, died Monday, February 11, 2019 at home.

Born July 13, 1935 in Chicago, she was a daughter of Henry and Della (nee Tice) Gadbaw. On July 9, 1955 she married Glenn Lawrence in Chicago. He died September 1, 2014.

Betty enjoyed embroidering, reading and doing puzzles. She and Glenn traveled around the United States to many places but she especially enjoyed their trips to Hawaii.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Susan (Steven) Adams of Rock Falls; her sons, Michael (Sabrina) Lawrence of Schiller Park, Charles Lawrence of Elgin, and Steven (Patricia) Lawrence of Oregon; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Joshua, Heather, Christopher, Andrew, Nicholas, Angelia, Brian, Megan and Kaitlyn; her great grandchildren, Anthony, Dominik, Mia, Molly, Oliver, Ryleigh, Jax, Noah and Breck; her sister Joan King of Florida and a brother Marvin Gadbaw of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 2:30 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.

Freetly, ElaineElaine H. Freetly nee Smith, age 95, of Lombard, died February 15, 2019.  Elaine was the beloved wife of 49 years of the late Joseph W.; loving mother of Helen E. (David) Palochko and Stephen L. (Ann); cherished grandmother of Carol, Leigh, Amie and Clarissa; great-grandmother of Lillian; sister of Thomas and the late Horton Smith; aunt and great-aunt of many.

Elaine had been a 65 year resident of Lombard.  She was along-time member of Lombard Bible Church and taught Sunday School at the First Church of Lombard.  She was a former employee of the Village of Lombard.

MadambaUlpiano “Jun” Madamba, Jr. of Lombard passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of Celsa Ochoco-Madamba for 54 years.  Loving father of Richard (Mary Grace Adams), Francis (Dawn Keglar) and Bennett.  Adored grandfather of Steven, Matthew and Lauren.  Son of the late Ramona and Ulpiano Madamba, Sr.  Dear brother of Delia Carnate (Joe), Leticia Azura (Paul), the late Cesar and the late Jose.  Survived by sisters-in-law Lilia Madamba, Carmelita Madamba and Pagasa Ochoco.

Funeral services for immediate family only will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard.  Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery in Norridge.

Melden (Mel) William Neuber, 88 of Winfield IL

NeuberMelden (Mel) William Neuber, 88 of Winfield IL, former longtime resident of Lombard, IL, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2019.

Mel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Beverly Neuber. Survived by sons Ricki (Jacqueline), Randy (Nina), granddaughters Julia & Elise Neuber. Uncle to Paul South & Todd & Barry Eggers.

Mel grew up in Galena, IL, & was the only child of Erick and Leona Neuber. In 1951, Mel attended Bayless Business College in Dubuque, Iowa where he earned a degree in Accounting & Business. He went on to work at Tools & Abrasives & then retired from General Motors in Chicago, IL after 25 years. Mel & his wife Beverly raised their family in Lombard, IL. They were active members of their church as well as their community. Mel was a dedicated & loving husband and father. Coaching baseball and devoting his life to the happiness of his family. Mel was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs & The Bears. He also loved animals, the outdoors, gardening, fishing, traveling, golf, bowling, & spending time with family & many dear friends.

Mel will be dearly missed by everyone who knew & loved him.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:00 am, St John’s Ev. Lutheran Church 215 S. Lincoln Lombard, IL. Private interment will be at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.

Katherine was the beloved wife of Edward for 52 years, loving mother of Sharon (Dan) Fitzgibbon of Lombard, Deborah (Eric) Harrison of Riverview, Florida, adored grandmother of Sara and Erin Fitzgibbon, and aunt to 11 nieces and nephews.

Katherine grew up in Chicago, the middle of five siblings, one sister and three brothers. She graduated from Maria High School and was proud of being an elementary school district treasurer for many years.

She enjoyed baking and spending time with her granddaughters, watching countless soccer and basketball games and attending swim meets. One of her greatest loves was traveling with her husband around the country, taking cruises and seeing her beloved Ireland.

Jean was born in Chicago, was a former resident of Melrose Park and a longtime resident of Bellwood.

Jean was a switchboard operator during World War II. She was involved in the Ladies Guild from St. Simeon Church Thespian group where they put on an annual show. Jean was a room mom for all of her kids and a great Girl Scout helper. She was a camper extraordinaire. Jean was a great artist and painter in ceramics. She was also an election judge. Mom loved to travel with her husband. She liked to go gambling. Jean loved all of her dogs over the years and missed having a dog in later life.

Loving wife of 60 years to the late George “Duke” Sourile. Cherished Mom of 5 children, Cheryl Walsh(the late Mark), Karen Kuenzi (Gary), Kathleen Summers       ( Kevin), George Sourile ( Rose) and Michael Sourile(Peggy). Loving grandmother to Christy McKinney ( Richard), Rachel Laclair ( Aaron Heyn), Sean Laclair (devoted caregiver to Jean for several years), Brendan Summers,Bradley Summers( Megan), Rebecca Humbach ( Jason), Erin Greiner (Joseph),Gina Sourile ( Steve), Allison Baran ( Emmanuel), Nicholas Sourile ( Abby), James Sourile (Ariana), and Brett Summers. Passed away surrounded by her immediate family, including the family of Arden Courts staff in Glen Ellyn Illinois, where she resided her last year, living and loving life.

Lydia was a devoted wife to Ted, loving mother of Terry (Alice), and grandchildren, Shari (Shawn) and Michael (Eva) and great granddaughter Sarah (Shari/Shawn). Lydia loved and lived for her family.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy and brothers, Ernest, Rudy, William and Arthur.

Funeral services for immediate family only will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Interment at St. Lucas Cemetery, Chicago.

Norman Bourdage, age 92, of West Chicago

Bourdage, NormanNorman Bourdage, age 92, of West Chicago, passed away January 29, 2019.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, February 8th from 4 – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 9th at 10 AM at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St, Lombard. Interment will take place later at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Norman grew up and graduated from Mooseheart. He served in the Navy’s Seabee Construction Battalion during WWII in Okinawa. He lived in many places around the New England area before settling down in Lombard in the early 50’s.

Norman built the home that he and his 1st wife raised their 2 daughters. He enjoyed woodworking where he made redwood canoes and various furniture items. Norman started out as a stone carver and had his own concrete business. He had a long career in construction management.

When he retired, he opened a stained glass store in Lombard which started out as a hobby but quickly turned into a second profession. He instilled the love of glass to his daughter, granddaughter and countless others around the Chicagoland area.

After retiring for the second time at age 80, he went back to woodworking. He made many beautiful tables and other wonderful items. At age 89, he found a new art form to love; scroll saw woodworking.

In his free time he enjoyed puzzles and Sudoku.

Wherever you found Norman, you would find his dog Koko, always by his side.

Norman is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Anderson); his daughters Debra McDonald and Mary Noel Terrance; his stepsons Richard M. Fielding (Beth) and Eric L. Fielding (Gina); 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Proceeded in death are his parents Placide and Philomene; his 4 brothers, Robert, Sylvio, Richard and Lionel and his stepsister Lillian; his first wife Barbara and his sons-in-law Patrick and Terry.

Frank Viscariello, age 79, of Lombard

Viscariello, FrankFrank Viscariello, age 79, of Lombard, died peacefully on Feb 1, 2019

Frank had been a long time resident of Lombard for 59 years. He grew up in Chicago, Il with his parents and younger brother.

He attended Holy Trinity HS. Frank worked at Continental Bank in 1957 in Chicago, where he met and worked with Beverly (nee) Mertz of Lombard. They were married on August 19, 1961, and had two daughters, Cathy and Cindy.

Frank was a Postal Carrier at the Lombard Post Office for 31 years and at the same time a part time Park District Police Officer for 5 years.  Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Beverly (nee) Mertz, his two daughters Cathy (Mike Atkins), Cindy (Steve and Sabrina), 3 Grandchildren, Jessica, Sara and Michael Atkins. Younger brother Alan (Nancy) Viscariello, many sister/brother in laws, nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (nee Krol) and his father, Frank Viscariello.

A Visitation will be held at Brust Funeral Home 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, on Friday, February 8th from 11 – 1 pm with a Celebration of Life service at 1pm.  Interment will be private for family only.
