JOHN “JAKE” JAKUBIK, age 85, Veteran U.S. Army, of Lombard

jakubikJohn “Jake” Jakubik, age 85, of Lombard, passed away on May 19th, 2019.

Jake was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to the Chicago area early in his childhood.  Jake served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1964.  He was a Sergeant First Class with the 82nd Airborne Division.  Jake eventually found his calling in life and spent the rest of his career as an administrator for the ATC at CDH where he eventually retired from.

Jake enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada. A part of the lake where he spent so many years chasing Walleye and Northern Pike was named “Jake’s Mile”.  Jake was also a life-long member of the NRA and had an extensive Eagle collection.

Jake was preceded in death his parents, Josephine and Stephan Jakubik, sister Josie, and brother George.  Jake is survived by his sons Joseph (Renee) Jakubik, Christopher (Carol) Jakubik, brother Steve (Kally) Jakubik.  He will be greatly missed by his grandsons: Joseph, Jonathan, Greg, Johnny Jakubik, Justin Fudala, and his nephew Lance (Jan) Jakubik, and Stephanie Jakubik.

As per Jake’s final wishes, no memorial services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

JOAN STAUBER WYCKOFF,age 80, of Lombard

joan wyckoff web2joan wyckoff web1Joan Stauber Wyckoff, age 80, of Lombard, died May 14 at her home.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 17, from 3-8pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 18, at 10am at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bohemian National Cemetery, Chicago.

Joan was the beloved wife of 48 years of Kent; loving mother of Jason (Kristi) of Tennessee and Scott (Jennifer) of Florida; proud grandmother of Ella, Miles, Everett and Zachary.

Joan graduated from Beloit College in Wisconsin, with a B.S. in Mathematics.  She was a former math teacher in Brookfield, and left full-time teaching in 1975.  She was a substitute teacher years later in District 45 at Jefferson and Jackson Junior High Schools.

Joan enjoyed crafting and sewing, and was an amazing cook.  More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Arlene Catherine Mason, nee Grainger, age 79, of Lombard

MasonArlene Catherine Mason, nee Grainger, age 79, of Lombard, passed away May 8th, 2019.

Arlene was raised in Elmhurst, IL and attended Immaculate Conception grade and high school.  Arlene and her husband, Jack, moved to Lombard in 1966.

Arlene was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lombard, where she was a reader and a sacristan.  For decades, she planned and organized the semi-annual Senior Dinner for members of the church.

Arlene also enjoyed reading, crocheting, and sports, especially the Chicago Cubs.

Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Mason, her parents, Mary (Pfrang) and Irving Grainger, and her brother, Tom Grainger.  She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Stacey (Andy) Cooper, Sandy Mason, and Melissa (Josh) Conner, as well as her sister, Marilyn (Roger) Kramp.  She will be dearly missed by her eight grandchildren: Ailysh, Nolan, Michael (Michaela), Brenna, Jonathan, David, Colton, and Jack, and also her great-grandson, Benjamin.  She is remembered fondly by her nieces and nephew: Kim (Donnie) Wilson, Kevin (Paula) Kramp, and Kris (Mike) Petrella.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 12th from 2:00-7:00 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard.  Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13th with 9:30 am prayers from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church for 10:00 am Mass.  Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sacred Heart School Scholarship Fund would be appreciated.

Mary S. Klein, age 100, of Lombard

Klein, Mary webMARY S. KLEIN, nee Suderow, age 100, of Lombard, passed away May 7, 2019.

Mary was born May 13, 1918 in Canal Fulton, Ohio.  She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in business education and later earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh.  She taught in Canton, Ohio, and East Leyden High School in Franklin Park over a period of 30 years.

Mary moved to Lombard in 1956 and lived in the same house for 63 years.

Mary belonged to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 59 years, where she was a lector reader, a member of the altar guild, as well as a member of Faith Women’s Circle.

A life-long voracious reader, Mary also belonged to the book discussion group at Helen Plum Library for many years.

At age 70, Mary took bridge lessons at the Lombard Senior Center and continued to play for over 25 years.  An enthusiastic world traveler, Mary had been to over 62 countries and islands around the world with her daughter.

Mary always enjoyed music, history, politics, and sports.  She played tennis, cross country skied, and enjoyed bike riding on the Prairie Path for many years.

Mary was married for almost 41 years to Sheldon D. Klein, an attorney.  She is survived by her son, Edwin, a retired math professor, her daughter, Glenda, a retired school social worker, and her son-in-law, Sunil, a retired senior systems analyst.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 350 East Madison Street, Lombard.  Interment will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

Wanda Lee Santiago, age 75, of Villa Park

Wanda Lee Santiago nee Stalker, age 75, of Villa Park, Illinois.

Wanda was born in Pikeville, KY on August 1st, 1943. She joined her parents, Homer & Glema Stalker, her siblings -Jerry Wayne, June, Thomas, Jeffery & Bernice in Heaven on May, 4th 2019.

Wanda is survived by her children; Dorothy Santiago of IL James Santiago  of FL & Cesar Santiago Jr. of KY; 8 grandchildren; Jennifer, Cesar lll, James Jr, Vanessa , Jessica, Laura, Jonathan, & Michael; 5 great-grandchildren; Payton, Austin, Logan, Kasim & Sakina; 2 sisters; Janice Stalker-Colley & Glenda McCormick and 4 brothers; Eugene, Perry Dale, Ronnie & Billy Stalker.

Wanda will be greatly missed & forever in our hearts.

A service will be held Thursday, May 9th, 2019, from 3 – 8 PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S Princeton Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181.

Mark C. Jaloszynski, age 52, of Villa Park

Mark Jaloszynski, 52 , passed peacefully on May 4, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with ALS. He was born June 22, 1966 to Aloysius and Joanne Jaloszynski (nee Zito) in Geneva Illinois and spent his childhood growing up in Lombard. Mark attended Willowbrook High School and College of DuPage. He married his high school sweetheart, Tracey (nee Tomasek) in August of 1996. Together they had three children, Thomas, Trevor, and Trent. Mark worked in the car industry for over thirty years and most recently as a representative of People’s Gas/Integrys and was a member of the Union Local 18007.

As a final act of selflessness Mark opted, with the support of his family, to be an organ donor through the Gift of Hope. Through this act of kindness, others will be given the opportunity to live.

Mark is survived by his wife of 22 years Tracey (nee Tomasek), his children Thomas, Trevor, and Trent, his mother, Joanne Jaloszynski (Nee Zito), his sisters,  Lynn (Dave) Cilella, Julie (Dave) Delisio, and Vicki (Joe) Ream, his in-laws Judi Tomasek (nee Prueske), Tami (Vince) DeVito, Todd (Susan) Tomasek, Tim (Nancy) Tomasek, and Teri (Jeremy) Magee as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Aloysius Jaloszynski and his father-in-law Thomas Tomasek.

Mark had a passion for life and adored his wife and three boys. There was nothing more important to him than family. His strong will and kind nature was appreciated by many.

Visitation will be held for Mark on Tuesday May 7th from 2:00 to 9:00 PM at Brust Funeral home at 135 South Main Street in Lombard. On Wednesday May 8th he will be lying in state at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 9:00 AM followed by a 10:00 AM service. The church is located at 215 South Lincoln Street in Lombard.  Interment is Private.
