David J. Wellehan, age 76, formerly of Lombard

WellehanAmerican_Flag_x300DAVID JAMES WELLEHAN, age 76, of Sevierville, Tennessee, formerly of Lombard, died July 30 at his home.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 2nd, from 3 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 3rd, with prayers at 10 AM from Brust Funeral Home, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lombard, for 10:30 AM Mass.

Interment will be at All Saint’s Cemetery, DesPlaines, Illinois.

Mr. Wellehan is survived by his loving wife, Patricia L., nee Treadway; his daughter, Tracy Janos of California; his son, David Joseph (Marsha Helland) Wellehan of Yorkville; three grandchildren, Laniney, Joshua, and Jax; his sister, Eileen Fugelseth of Round Lake; and many other relatives.

Mr. Wellehan is preceded in death by his step-son, Keith Sherrill of Chicago; and his parents, David and Helen Wellehan of Lombard.

Mr. Wellehan was formerly of Lombard and had served as the Village of Lombard Treasurer during the 1980’s.

Mr. Wellehan was a Veteran having served during the Viet Nam War.

Mr. Wellehan had retired 10 years ago from Professional Business Consultants.  He had been a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lombard and also had served on the YMCA Board.  He was a resident of Lombard for 50 years before moving to Tennessee in 2014.

Emily Melone nee DiVito, peacefully passed away at the age 87, of Lombard

Melone, EmilyOn July 26, 2019 Emily Melone (nee DiVito) peacefully passed away at the age of 87 surrounded by her loving family. Emily was the devoted wife of Guido for 65 years. Beloved mother of Susan (Michael) Campbell, Jeanette (Michael) Foy, and Joanna Turner. Loving Nana to Melissa (Paul), Michael (Susie), Emily (Jacob), Marty, Sarah, and Ryan. Nana enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren: Susanna, Caleb, Natalie, Owen, and Evan. Emily was preceded in death by her mother and father Ettore and Celeste DiVito. Cherished sister to the late Father John DiVito, the late Anthony (Floria) DiVito, the late Celia (late Peter) Cairo, and late Ettore (Lydia) DiVito. Emily was loved and will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends. Emily will be best remembered for her devotion to God and love of her family. Emily worked for many years as an insurance underwriter. Affectionately known as the “Walking Nana”, she commuted downtown while also raising her three daughters. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching classic movies on TCM, played card and dice games, and spent time volunteering both in the community and in her parish community. Emily was at home in the kitchen and loved nothing more than preparing spaghetti and meatballs for Sunday dinners. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Catholic Charities.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 30, from 9:30 until prayers 11:00 am at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  An 11:30 AM Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St. Lombard.  Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Ann M. Bernardo, nee Homolka, passed away at home on Monday, July 22, 2019.

Born March 7, 1931, Ann was the beloved wife of the late Inocencio Bernardo, Jr.; devoted mother to Dietrah “Dee” Schaefer, Barbara (James) Gajewski, James (Sandra) Bernardo and Patricia (Daniel) Ahearn; proud grandmother of Kelly Schaefer, Rick Schaefer, Janine (Ben Farmer) Gajewski, Joseph (Emily) Gajewski, Laura (Stephen Phillips) Gajewski, Michael Bernardo, Gianna Bernardo and Katherine Ahearn; dear great-grandmother of Payton and AJ Phillips, William, Julia and baby-to-be Gajewski, and Grace Farmer.

Ivoni was the loving wife of the late Thoma; loving mother of Niko (Elsa) of Bloomingdale; and dear grandmother of Tomi of Bloomingdale.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 20 with a Visitation from 5 PM until the time of Funeral Prayers at 5:30 PM.  The Visitation will continue after prayers until 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will be later in Albania.

Ivona had lived in Bloomingdale since 2009.  She lived in Albania from 2007-2009 and in Bloomingdale prior to that.  She was originally from the town of Korca in Albania.

Caroline was the beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Margaret Gainer nee Ladd, 82, of Wheaton, Illinois

Margaret Gainer nee Ladd, 82, of Wheaton, Illinois, passed away on July 7 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Margaret was born and raised in Fort Payne, Alabama, where she developed strong friendships that lasted her entire life. She relocated to Villa Park, Illinois in 1967 with her family. For the past thirty years, she has resided in Wheaton, Illinois. Margaret attended DeKalb County High School in Fort Payne, Alabama. She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her two daughters. She performed secretarial work on temporary assignments in the DuPage county area for many years. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Lombard, and later Wheaton Bible Church.

Margaret was known and loved for her sweet Southern lady charm. She enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. and abroad with friends, going to the theatre and watching the Chicago Bears.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Tracy Gainer, of Itasca, Illinois, and by numerous cousins and beloved friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. Ladd and Willie Lee (Gilbreath) Ladd, and by her daughter Cathy (Gainer) Bentel.

Visitation for Margaret will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard, IL 60148.  Graveside service will be held Monday, July 15 at Glenwood Cemetery, Fort Payne, Alabama.

Burke of Lombard and the late Charles; dear brother of Christine (Mike) Gabnay of West Chicago, Keith (Betty) Burke of Schaumburg, Karen Von Hatten of Wheaton and Brian (Vicky) Burke of Lombard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and his friend, Bill.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, July 12 from 9:30 AM until the time of a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment is private.

Michael had lived in Wheaton for over 20 years.  He grew up in Lombard and attended Pleasant Lane School, Lombard Junior High and was a 1972 graduate of Glenbard East High School.

Michael was the owner of Zeftek Company, now called Wabtek.  He was an avid golfer, water skier and snow skier.  He loved motorcycles.

Frederick was the loving husband of 61 years of Anne nee DiNatale; loving father of Karen (Mark) Dourlain of Addison, Fred (Lynn) Kirsch of Wheaton and William (Shelby) Kirsch of Batavia; fond grandfather of Deanna (Dan) Baxa of Bloomingdale, Marisa Dourlain of Schaumburg, Louis (Jody) Dourlain of Oak Park, Jenny Kirsch of Oak Park, Joe Kirsch of Wheaton, Alexandra Dourlain of Addison, Casey Kirsch of Batavia and Tori Kirsch of Batavia; great-grandfather of Noah, Brie and Oliver; fond brother of Betty Pappadimas of Chicago; and many other relatives.

Frederick was preceded in death by his sister, Kate.

Frederick was a graduate of DePaul University where he received a degree in History.  He also received his Masters Degree there.  He was a retired Guidance Counselor at Downers Grove South High School for 38 years.  He was a member of the IEA.

Frederick was a Cubs fan.  He loved photography and movies.

DolanThomas J. Dolan, age 86, of Lombard, died June 29 at Arden Courts of Glen Ellyn.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Rita nee Citera; loving father of Angela (Ron) Ladniak of Clarendon Hills; fond grandfather of Stacey (Mike) Lane of Downers Grove, Michael (Katrina) Reimer of Glen Ellyn and Matthew Reimer of Glen Ellyn; great-grandfather of 5: Jeremy, Joe, Jack, Joshua and Jocelyn.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 6, at 10:30 AM at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard.  Interment is private at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Thomas was a Korean War Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.  He was a boxer for the U.S. Army team.

Thomas had lived in Lombard since 1968.  He was a retired Terminal Manager in the trucking industry.

Thomas was a runner, ping pong player and avid Cubs fan.

Thomas’ greatest love was his family.  He was married 65 years to Rita.  His great-grandchildren were his buddies.
