Edward L. Rottmann, age 66, of Wheaton

Edward L. rottmannRottmann, age 66, of Wheaton, suddenly passed away November 25, 2019.

Edward was the beloved husband of Ruth née Calcese. Loving son of Patricia and the late Alwin Rottmann, of LaFox. Dear brother of Carol (Tom) Hebda, Alan Rottmann, and Thomas (Melanie) Rottmann. Dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Edward was the longtime owner of Realtec Corp., of Wheaton. He also was a 1971 graduate of Glenbard East High School.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, December 8, from 12-3 PM, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Raymond Ernest Porter, age 96 of Lombard

Raymond Ernest Porter, age 96 of Lombard passed away November 24.

A Memorial Service will be held in December.

Ray is survived by his daughters Brenda Porter Helms (Al Ramirez) and Carol Jane Hammons (Herb), his beloved companion Harriet Kweton, his cherished grandchildren Jennifer DeBruin (Pete), Christopher Helms (Meghan Meredith), Kristen Book (Michael) and Scott Helms, his great grandchildren Ricky, Emma, Kendall and Claire.

Ray was born on a farm near Kettering, England, the youngest of nine children.  During WWII he joined the British Royal Air Force and flew on missions over Europe.  He was especially proud of the missions dropping food and aid to the people of Holland and Belgium.  He and his late wife Hilda emigrated to Canada after WWII where he obtained his degree in accounting and started a life-long career as an accountant, a career he continued up until the last few years.  In 1967 Ray and Hilda and their daughters moved again to the Chicagoland area for a job transfer and settled in Lombard and Wheaton over the duration of their lives.  They were very active with their children and then their grandchildren who were their whole lives including the annual trips to the Wisconsin Dells during the grandchildren’s younger years.

Ray is preceded in death by Hilda in 2005 and his son in law Gregory Helms in 2009.

Victor was the beloved husband of Antoneta; loving father of Alma (Ilia) Teneqexhi of Villa Park and Olga (Andon) Bica of Villa Park; grandfather of 5: Iva, Pamela, Pola, Viktor and John; dear brother of Sofokli (Qeti) of Illinois and Minella (Aneta) of Illinois; uncle of many, including his nephew Gjergji (Lindita) of Lombard and his niece, Lida (Stavrag) Kafexhi of Villa Park.

Viktor had been a Villa Park resident for 21 years.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 27, with a Funeral Service at 11 AM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Glen Ellyn.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26 from 5-8 PM at Brust Funeral Home.

Ralph F. Borgatell, age 92, of Lombard, died November 23, 2019 at Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard.

Ralph was the beloved husband of the late Arlene M. nee Habermann; loving father of Mary Lou (Roger) Saindon, Anne (the Late Paul) Matthies, Jean (Jeff) Peretz, Anita (Louis) Huggins and Ellen (James) Hawbecker; cherished grandfather of 7, Eric (Kasey), Colette, Christopher, Nathan (Becky), Amanda, Benjamin (Allison), Brandon, and the late Brent; great-grandfather of 3.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 27, with a Visitation from 8:30 AM until time of Prayers at 9:30 AM, continuing to Sacred Heart Church for 10 AM Mass.  Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL.

Ralph was a former teacher in Bensenville and was a principal in Roselle and Chicago.  He was a realtor and taught real estate classes.

Ralph was a former Village of Lombard Trustee and Republican Committeeman.  He was very active at Sacred Heart Church where he was a lifelong volunteer and served as a Lector.  He also served on the School Board for Sacred Heart School.

Ralph was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus with the Father Boecker Council.  Ralph was a WWI Veteran.  He was a former District Commander with the American Legion.

Pauline “Pat” Blakeslee née Patrick, age 99, of Lombard

Blakeslee, PaulinePauline “Pat” Blakeslee née Patrick, age 99, of Lombard, formerly of Iowa, passed away November 22, 2019.

Pat was the beloved wife of the late Raymond S.; dear mother of Stuart (Barbara) Blakeslee, of Marengo, IL; loving grandmother of Ted (Lisa) Blakeslee, of Barrington, IL; great-grandmother of Alison and Madison; loving sister of Dorothy A. Ryan, of Lombard, IL; and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband and ten brothers and sisters.

Pat was born in Iowa, grew up in Des Moines, and lived there for 80 years. She retired from a career of working as the Executive Secretary for the State of Iowa Agricultural Department, and also for John Ruan and his various companies. Pat was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Des Moines. Pat was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, in Des Moines. She lived in Ankeny, Iowa for 17 years before moving to Lombard 2½ years ago.

Services will be held in Illinois on Monday, November 25th, with a Visitation from 9 AM until the time of the Service at 11 AM, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard, IL.

A Prayer Service will be held in Iowa on Wednesday, November 27th, at 10 AM, at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. 1st St., Ankeny, IA. Graveside Service and Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Graciela Medina, age 72

MedinaGraciela Medina was called home on November 14, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Graciela was born to Ezequiel and Socorro in Mexico, in 1947 and was the oldest of 11 brothers and sisters. Graciela (Chela), is survived by her beloved husband Antonio. Loving mother of Eduardo (Diana), Gerardo (Marisela) and Daniel (Jennifer). Dearest grandmother; cherished sister, aunt and friend of many.

Graciela will always be admired for her life’s hard work and coming to the U.S. with Antonio with only a suitcase and a dream and leaving behind a legacy. She was known for always lending a hand to those in need. She enjoyed the simple life of raising her sons to admiral men. Once her sons flourished, a newfound love was acknowledged for her and her grandchildren. She instilled the importance of family and often showed examples by highly speaking of and helping her family in Mexico. She loved her family gatherings, as she liked to quietly sit and observe everyone having a great time and to her, that was a gift. Her kind, lovable and sometimes stern personality will forever be remembered.

Visitations will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 3pm to 9pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 with a 10am Mass at St. Joseph’s Church 330 E. Fullerton Ave, Addison.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.

Elly Ida Neufeld nee Egert, age 94, of Lombard

Visitation will be held Friday from 3 – 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, with Mrs. Neufeld lying–in-state from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 10 AM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard. Interment will be private.

Elly is survived by her beloved sons, Carl Robert Neufeld of Dallas, TX and Hans Christian Neufeld of Lombard; her cherished grandchildren, Katrina and Nathan; her loving siblings, Arnold Egert of Hambuhren, Germany, and Herta Egert of Hannover, Germany; many nieces and nephews in Germany and Estonia; and her  dear cousin, Alfred Egert of Canada.

Elly was born in Latvia and became a resident of Lombard in 1957. She was a past member of the Elmhurst Damenchor when her sons were young, now known as the Elmhurst Harmonie. Elly was a tennis mom for many of the college players her sons coached.

Memorials to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard, are appreciated.

Pauline is survived by her beloved children, Sylvia McGrath and Louis H. Jr (Jane); her loving grandchildren, Richard,  Elena (Chad) Bowden, John McGrath and James (Nicole) McGrath; and her dear great-grandchildren, Annalise, Kayla and Molly; aunt and great-aunt of many.

Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Sr and her son-in-law, John McGrath.

Harold (Harry) Gnadt, age 83, of Lombard

Harry is survived by his wife, Margaret (Marge), daughters Donna, Diane, and a granddaughter, Allie Thomas.

He was born in Chicago July 2, 1936 to the late Harold and Eleanor Gnadt.  He was pre-deceased by his younger brother, Ron.

Harry was known for his unique personality, talent for photography and love of family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 24 at 2 PM at Allegra Banquets, 237 St. Charles Rd., Villa Park.  Interment private.

Alice was the beloved wife of the late Earl H. Andersen, Sr.; loving mother of 3: Earlene A. (Timothy J. Sr.) Reilly, Earl H. (Christine) Andersen II, and Alice E. (John) Walton; adored grandmother of Theresa L. (Thornton) Koppel, Timothy J. Reilly II, Joel Andersen and Nina Andersen; great-grandmother of William (Angela) Brubacher, Mathew Koppel, Steve Koppel, Jonathan (Eden) Koppel and Rebekah Koppel; great-great grandmother of Josiah Koppel and Liam Koppel.  Alice is also survived by a sister and a brother.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Aaron Andersen; a great-grandson, Richard Koppel, a sister and a brother.

Alice had been a resident of Wooddale since 1954.  She was a former member of West Suburban Community Church in Elmhurst.

Alice was very well liked in her community.

A Visitation will be held Monday, November 11, from 4-6 PM at Brust Villa Park Funeral Home, 305 S. Princeton Ave., Villa Park.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 12 at 12:30 PM at the funeral home.  Interment to follow at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in Northlake.
