American_Flag_1_x1000Kenneth E. Nelson, age 79, of Lombard, died November 28 at his home.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 3 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard.  Interment is private.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathy nee Samlow; his children Nick (Angie) and Eric; his granddaughter, Courtney; and his siblings, George (Bernadette), Bruce (Judy) and Karen Campanaro.

Ken married the love of his life after 6 weeks of dating and they celebrated a beautiful 53 years of marriage.  He was the 2nd son of George and Violet.  Ken worked at Fettes Love and Sieben for 44 years where his grandfather and father worked, and his son continues to work.

Ken was a veteran, having served in the Army during the Cold War.  He was active in the Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge.  He was a Scout leader and baseball coach for his boys.  He loved spending time in the Northwoods “Presque Isle” where he enjoyed his home and many great friends he met over the years.  He absolutely loved his family and spending as much time as possible with his boys.

Ken and Kathy loved to travel and they traveled the world together.  He enjoyed playing golf with his childhood friends and snowmobiling.  Ken was a huge racing fan.  He also loved putzing around in both of his garages.  The Nelson family would like to thank Northwestern Hospital For all of their love and exceptional care for him over many years.

He will be severely missed by many, many people.
