Walter John Kramer, age 79, of Elmhurst

kramer 2American_Flag_1_x1000On Friday, March 22, 2019, Walter John Kramer, loving husband, father of two, and adoring “Opi”, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Walter was born on December 18, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Robert and Mary (Kelly) Kramer.

He was a gifted teacher by trade and a devoted family man at heart.

While drafted to the Army in 1966, Walter met his future wife in Germany. On August 23, 1967, he married Karin Schaefer in Chicago and together they raised two children, Monika (Hall) and Robert.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Karin nee Schaefer; his loving children, Robert F. (Anne) and Monika (Steve) Hall; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Brooke, Ben and Jane; his dear sister, Janet (Frank) Purpura; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elvina (John) Dzielski; and dog, Chewy

He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Sunday, April 7, from 2-5 PM with a Memorial Service and Military Honors planned at 4 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.  Interment will be private.
