Loretta Ruth (Moser) Tanis, 83, of Lombard, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in hospice care at Lexington Senior Residence. She was born in Bluffton, Indiana, and later grew up in Fort Wayne, where she graduated from Central High School. Loretta moved to Chicago to study at the Art Institute of Chicago, receiving her BFA in 1956.

Surviving are her children, Mark and Joan, both of California; three grandchildren; and siblings, Mary Lou Hutter and Janet Keith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tanis; and siblings, Ronald, Donald and Joe Moser.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in June at First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main Street, Lombard Ill., Saturday, June 8 at 11:30AM.

    Aunt Loretta was a very sweet lady. I have good memories of her from when I was young in Chicago. Once, we walked to the store and back to get the food for a spaghetti dinner. I did get to see her one more time when she visited California several years ago. I was hoping that she’d moved out here with us. I will miss her.

    I am sorry that I will not be able to attend your memorial service for Loretta. She and your Dad were so kind to us. When Carl was ten years old we came to Chicago for the first time and your Mom eagerly became our tour guide for the day. We had a great time. Our prayers are with you.
