Dorothy A. Muratore, 83, of Lombard

MuratoreDorothy A. Muratore, 83, of Lombard, passed away on January 2 from Alzheimer’s Disease.

She is survived by her brother, Gaetano (the late Peggy) Muratore of Smyrna, TN, niece Sandra (Leonard) Criger of Lombard, nephew Anthony Muratore, Sr. of Rochelle, great-nephew Anthony Muratore, Jr. of Kings, and many cousins, Godchildren, and friends.

Dorothy was born in Chicago where she lived for 37 years before moving to Melrose Park and living there for 33 years. She worked for Meters & Controls, Inc. in the accounting department for many years before retiring and moving in with her brother Phil and sister-in-law Mickie in Lombard. She lived there for 10 years before the Alzheimer’s progressed so much that she was then moved to Bridgeway Senior Living in Bensenville.

Before Alzheimer’s, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards and Pokeno. She loved to shop and go out for “a bite to eat.” She had a major sweet tooth. She loved watching professional and college sports on TV and going to games and was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. She was active in church, even watching it on TV when she couldn’t go anymore. She was generous and kindhearted and would do anything for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Filippo and Domenica “Mamie” Muratore, sister Joan Muratore, brother Anthony (the late Gorma) Muratore, and brother Philip (the late Domenica “Mickie”) Muratore.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8th from 9:00 am until time of prayers at 10:30 am at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard, proceeding to  St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard, for 11 AM Mass.  Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
