James Marquette, age 85, of Lombard

Written by Brust Funeral Home on February 14th, 2020

James Marquette, age 85, of Lombard passed away on February 12, 2020, with family by his side.

Interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 18, at 10:30, alongside his wife Ada Marquette of 49 years.

James is survived by his five children, Matt (Carol), Paul, Jessica (Paul), Jennipher (John), and Melissa (Jerry); nine grandchildren, Eric (Jen), Adam, Michael, Johnny, Thomas, Adrian, Brandon, Sarah, Michael and sister Denise.

James was preceded in death by his six brothers.

James grew up on the northside of Chicago. He was in the first graduating class of St. Benedict High School. James served in the United States Air Force, where he was a Chaplain assistant. After getting out of the service, he took advantage of his GI Bill by obtaining his Master’s Degree; and never stopped taking classes even after he retired. After retirement, he joined the Americore and helped senior citizens with their financing, medical, and other errands.  I think his favorite assignment was helping a blind woman’s dream of learning to sail on Lake Michigan (it terrified him), but he accompanied her anyway.
