Mary Alice D’Arcy, MSW, LCSW

Mary Alice D’Arcy of Lombard, IL died on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Maple Glen Memory Care Community in Glen Ellyn, IL.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1943 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of John Joseph and Loretta Marie (nee McMullin) DeSutter. Her siblings were: John R. “Jack” (died 1988), Carol (died at birth), and Francis (died from polio 1948).

A graduate of Loyola University, Chicago, social work was her calling in life.  She was a member of the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters for 20 years and held appointed and elected positions of leadership, such as Executive Director of Marian Park, Inc. in Wheaton, IL.

She worked at Easter Seals DuPage & Fox Valley for 35 years.  Beginning as a social worker, she became President and CEO for 15 years and devoted herself to assisting children with disabilities and their families.  She served on several boards of directors.

She is survived by her husband William (Bill) D’Arcy (married 1983); niece Julie (Kevin) Fry, nephew Michael (Laurel) DeSutter, niece Jennifer (John) Causey,   great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins.

Due to the COVID-19 virus, there will be no public viewing or services at this time.  A funeral visitation and memorial mass will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Easter Seals DuPage & Fox Valley, 830 S. Addison Ave., Villa Park, IL 60181, and the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, 26W171 Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, IL 60187.
