Matthew C. Nix, age 26, of Lombard, died December 1 at home.

Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 9 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St. Lombard.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, with Mr. Nix lying-in-state from Noon until time of service at 1 PM at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln, Lombard.

Interment will be Tuesday at Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Charles and Beverly nee Rakow; a brother, Steven of  Elmwood Park; his grandmother, Helen Rakow and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Matthew is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Rakow and Haywood Nix and his grandmother, Peggy Hagamaker.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials to St. John’s Ev.Lutheran School or to the family for medical expenses.

Matthew graduated from St. John’s Lutheran School in 2000 and Glenbard East High School in 2004. He played golf and basketball at Glenbard East High School. He received his B. A. from Concordia University in Art in 2009. He was a Painter and did Sketching. He was a Caddy at Glen Oak Country Club since he was 13 years old. He coached the boy’s 5th and 6th grade basketball team and the boy’s 7th and 8th grade basketball team for over 8 years at St. John’s School.  He spent his entire life in Lombard. He was an avid golfer and loved his guitars, music and jazz.
