GLENN F. BALFANZ, JR., age 73, of Oswego, died May 13 at Rush-Copley Medical Center, Aurora.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 16 at 11 AM at Christ Community Church, 40W093 Galena Boulevard, Aurora, Illinois. Interment Private.
Mr. Balfanz is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Joe) Starkovich of Brookfield, and Laurie of Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Randy Jr., Krystal, and Jake Hermosillo, and Matthew and Sean Starkovich; his sister, Judith (Don) Palm of Missouri; and many other family and friends.
Mr. Balfanz is preceded in death by his wife, Diana.
Mr. Balfanz was a Mechanical Engineer and had worked for Chicago Metallic for over 15 years and for Allsteel in Aurora for over 15 years. He loved to fix and tinker with antique clocks. Mr. Balfanz had a beautiful backyard with his many Rose and Poppy bushes.
So sorry to hear of Glenn’s passing – I attend the same church as he did. On one occasion, he and I met for breakfast together and he knew I had recently lost a business and that I was still enduring rough financial times. When the check came, he didn’t hesitate to say “I’ve got this” even though he was not in stellar shape financially either! I enjoyed speaking with him from time to time at church. He will be missed.
