John Patrick Mikel, age 44, of  Lombard, died June 20 at home.

A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday,June 22 from 2PM until time of Memorial Mass 5PM at Christ the King Church,1501 S. Main St. Lombard.

Another Service will be held at St. Patrick of Merna in Bloomington, IL.

Mr. Mikel is survived by two sons, Andrew John and Patrick Christopher; his parents, D. Keith & Rita Killian Mikel; his former spouse, Kristine A. neeNeavins; brother Mark (Mary) Mikel and their children, Zachary, Ethan and Zoe; Uncle John J. (Stacie) Killian & their family of Towanda, IL.

Aunt Chloe (Harold) Misch & their family of Floey, Alabama; Uncle Guy Mikel and his daughters of San Clemente, CA.
Mr. Mikel is preceded in death by a brother, David Mikel; his maternal grandparents, John &Martha Larkin Killian and Paternal grandparents, Rex & Dorothy Gretter Mikel.

John was born Oct. 14, 1967 in Bloomington, IL.

John was a resident of Lombard for 17 years. He was a Senior Buyer for Concentric Inc. in Itasca. He was a member of Christ the King Church and was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid supporter of Glenn Westlake Middle School and Glenbard East High School. He was a graduate of Lexington High School, Lexington, IL. in 1986 and graduated from Loras College in 1990.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials to John P. Mikel Memorial Fund, c/o 3702 Rave Road, Bloomington, IL 61024 would be appreciated.

    I met John through a mutual friend and neighbor. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. John was special. He always greeted me with a smile and a sincere interest in how I was doing. He was very outgoing, funny, interesting and respectful. He was generous in giving his time and sharing his delicious dishes, which he loved to cook.I will miss him. My heart goes out to his boys, family and dear friends.
