American FlagJoseph Was 2JOSEPH R. WAS, 83, of Lombard, died January 17, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, from 3:00 – 8:30 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am at Brust Funeral Home. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.

Mr. Was is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara A. nee Nemecak; a sister, Rosemarie Was; 2 step-daughters, Kim Strobel of Elgin and Nanette (Ralph) DeLuca of Wheaton; 2 step-sons Nicholas Januschik of Lombard and Greg Januschik of Joliet; and 6 step-grandchildren, Jennifer DeLuca, Kellie Strobel, Jessie DeLuca, Michael DeLuca, Stephanie DeLuca and Jake Januschik. Mr. Was was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Was and a step-daughter, Deborah LaCour.

Mr. Was was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired statistician and had worked for Hines V.A. Hospital. He had lived in Lombard for 28 years. He was a very caring man.
