DefenbauLois R. Defenbau, nee Read, age 90, of Lombard, died July 26, 2014 at Lexington Healthcare Center.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 pm to 8 pm at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral service will be Thursday, with Mrs. Defenbau             lying-in-state from 9:30 am until time of service at 10 am at First United Methodist Church, 155 S. Main Street, Lombard. Interment private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Mrs. Defenbau is survived by her three children, Michel of Colorado, Calvin III of Georgia, and James of California; her grandchildren, Calvin IV (Gina) of Georgia, Colin of Colorado, Rebecca (Michael) Brewer of Georgia, and Joshua (Heather) Teteak of Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth, Alex, and Anseley; and her sister-in-laws, Eileen Read and Clarice (James) Corcoran.

Mrs. Defenbau is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. “Cal;” her daughter-in-law, Carol, and her brother, Alfred Read

Mrs. Defenbau graduated from Piper City High School in Illinois and Northern Illinois University with a degree in Education. Mrs. Defenbau was a First Grade Teacher at Lincoln School in Lombard. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years at First United Methodist Church in Lombard. She was a life member of the Lombard Historical Society and Friends of the Library. Mrs. Defenbau was very active with the Lombard Lions Club. She was a member of the P.E.O. and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Defenbau lived in Lombard for 66 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lombard Historical Society appreciated.
