Coletta C. Novak nee Gundlach, age 83, of Lombard

Written by Brust Funeral Home on August 30th, 2014

NovakColetta C. Novak, (nee Gundlach) age 83, died August 27, 2014 at home with her husband of 61years and five children at her bedside. At 3:45 AM Coletta left this valley of tears to enter the realm of, “the eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him”.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 3PM to 8PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Service will be Wednesday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Christ the King Church, 1501 South Main Street, Lombard, for 10:00 AM mass. Internment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Coletta is survived by her husband Gene; her five children, Gary(Marla), Nancy (Jim) Banner, Laura, Karen, and Greg; grandchildren Jessica, Christopher (Megan), Matthew, and Lindsay; great-grandson Jaden; and her brother Dr. Walter Gundlach of Hastings, NE.

Coletta is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Cecelia, and her brother Raymond.

Coletta’s life was oriented to self-less loving service to her family, friends, and neighbor. She was a long term volunteer for Meals On Wheels bringing food to the home-bound, often staying to visit those in need of companionship and even preparing a needed meal. She also compassionately assisted in transporting people suffering with cancer to their treatments. She was an active member of Christ the King and St. John Vianney parishes.

Coletta was truly a follower of Christ in whom she placed her trust.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Catholic Relief Services would be appreciated.
