Jean Dorothy Smyth, 84, of Naperville Illinois died  Thursday December 18, 2014 at Seasons Hospice Center of Naperville. She died peacefully with her two sons Tom and Joe by her side.  Visitation will be Sunday December 21 from 1 pm to 6 pm at Brust Funeral Home 135 S. Main Street in Lombard Illinois. The Funeral service will be Monday December 22 at 12:30 pm from Brust Funeral Home, and then to Christ the King Church 1501 South Main Street Lombard for a 1 pm Funeral Mass. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside Illinois.

Jean was born in Chicago Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Dorothy Cain, her beloved husband Thomas Smyth and her twin sister Joanne Cain. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Joseph and Deborah Smyth of Aurora, Illinois, her son Thomas Smyth of Carol Stream Illinois, her grandchildren Rachel (Clint) Mullet of Elkhart Indiana, Joshua (Laura) Smyth of Westmont, Illinois, Hannah, Daniel, Micah, David, and Grace Smyth of Aurora Illinois, one great grandchildren, and many other relatives.

Jean graduated from Loretta Academy (Woodlawn) and DePaul Secretarial School. She married Thomas M. Smyth of Chicago on November 21, 1959 at St. Bride’s Church.  They raised their sons Joe and Tom while living in Wood Dale and then later Lombard Illinois where she was a member of Christ the King Church. She also pursued a career serving as an administrative assistant/secretary in firms such as Wolf and Company, State Bank of Lombard, and Maryland Casualty Company.

Jean loved art, singing, reading and writing poetry. She was a member of the “World of Poetry” and in July/August 1988 received the Golden Poet of the Year Award. Jean was devoted to her faith in God.

She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
