Ann Takir, age 95 of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Elmhurst

Ann Takir, age 95 of Glen Ellyn, formerly of Elmhurst, died Wednesday, September 22, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Glen Ellyn. Visitation will be held Friday, September 24, from 4:30 until 8:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, with 9:30 AM prayers at Brust Funeral Home, to Sacred Heart Church, Lombard, for a 10 AM Mass. Interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Ann is survived by: her daughter, Patricia Takir of Wheaton; her son, Tom (Adrian) Takir of St. Louis, MO; her granddaughter, Alexis (Brian) Mitchell of Cleveland, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony.

Ann passed away peacefully at Sunrise Assisted Living, where she had been living for the past six months. She was born in Hartshorne, OK and moved to Chicago when she was nine. Eventually her family moved to Cicero where she lived, worked and raised her family for the next 60 years. Before moving to Glen Ellyn, she lived for 20 years in Elmhurst. Upon retiring from Amphenol Mfg., Ann became an avid pinochle player who enjoyed helping others learn the game. She loved to read, and despite losing her vision to macular degeneration, Ann continued to enjoy reading via audio books.
