SOTIROS (SAM) GOUDANIS, 24

Written by Brust Funeral Home on February 9th, 2016

GoudanisSotiros (Sam) Goudanis, 24, born May7, 1991, passed away on Sunday, February 7th after four long months of bravery and strength. He was truly our Superman.

Sam is survived by his Wife Cecilia, his Father Andrew, Mother Anna, brother Peter, Parents In-Law Lenard & Jill, Brother & Sisters In-Law (only a technicality) Braydon, Maddie and Sydney. Niece Nadia, Best friend Justin along with many Aunts and Uncles.

Sam Loved everyone he knew completely and unconditionally. Sam’s heart was bigger than could be measured. His sense of humor could best be described as an acquired taste, yet will be sorely missed. His innocence and gentle nature warmed the hearts of the children that knew him. Sam loved, and was loved so much, and our memories of him will go on all the way to the moon and back!

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10 from 4 to 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard. Funeral Prayers will begin  Thursday 9am from the Funeral Home to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 893 N. Church Rd, Elmhurst IL. for a 10am Funeral Service.  Interment will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

Sam, you were an amazing young man! I knew that when I met you, you were going to have a special place in our life. Being your surrogate mom was an absolute honor and it’s important that you know how very proud of you I am! Rest in peace, my bestie, and I know we WILL be together again.

I didn’t know Sam but my heart goes out to his family. Losing a fine young man like Sam doesn’t seem fair but I believe God has a plan that called him home to be with Him. My condolences from Arvada,CO. My father was born in Edessa way back in 1913 so my Greek heritage runs deep. Rest in peace Sam.

Although we didn’t know Sam very well, we had heard wonderful things about him from his father, Andy. Andy talked about him from the moment he came into his life.
Cecilia, we’ve heard great things about you and your loving family. May God give you the strength to keep Sam close to your heart and your family by your side.

I only mmet Sam once but since I’m Cecillia’s aunt my heart goes out to her for losing a spouse so soon. In my brief meeting with Sam I found him to be a quiet gentle hard working young man who I could tell really loved Cecillia. I’ll remember him for his smile and good natured personality

  11. Lubia Medrano says:

You have made it possible for a little boy without a mother or father to stay with his grandparents. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being there for the Farfan/ Medrano family. My sincerest condolences to your wife and family. You are one more, gone too soon. Rest in peace with all of our other angels gone too young.
