Marion Francis “Skip” Heaver, age 91, of Lombard

Skip was born in Sandoval, IL on May 20, 1925.  He died at home in Lombard, IL on December 2016 surrounded by family.  Skip grew up in the Sandoval/Centralia area, attended Sandoval High School and moved out to Seattle to work in the shipyards.  He was drafted and served in the US Army during WWII serving in North Africa, Italy and France. PFC Marion F. Heaver of the 7th Infantry 3rd Division was discharged after being wounded in France. Skip received three Bronze Battle Stars, Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal and Purple Heart.  Skip returned to Centralia and worked at a local bank.

He moved the family to the Chicago suburbs in the late 1960’s.  He worked at Prefinished Metals in Elk Grove Village in the shipping department until retiring.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He especially loved his dogs.  He was preceded in death by his parents Eva McClelland Heaver Merten, William Edward Heaver and his step father Dean W. Merten.

Skip  is survived by his son, Michael Dean (Kim) Heaver and Daughter Janice Katherine (Tom) Broadfoot; grandchildren, Sean (Christine) Heaver, Shelton “Skip” Heaver, Sarah Katherine Broadfoot, Daniel Michael Broadfoot, Emily AnnMarie Broadfoot and great grandson Benjamin Heaver.   He also leaves behind longtime friend Clarence “Bud” Ferguson and his dog Snow.
