James Victor Kolb, age 80, of Lombard

KolbJames Victor Kolb, age 80, of Lombard passed away June 20th, 2017. James is survived by his daughter Donna; his son-in-law, John; and his two granddaughters, Nicole and Andrea.


James was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the company of family and friends. James served in the United States Army, 1st Battle Group, 32nd Infantry in Korea. James was an expert Marksman (rifle and bar) in the Military. James was a very knowledgeable man on a wide range of subjects. You could ask him anything and he could tell you facts and stories that would keep you entertained for hours. James was a person you learned a lot from.


James was a very skilled artist who not only drew landscapes and animals but carved wood, was skilled at wood burning pictures and created one-of-a-kind pieces from the scroll saw. He went by the name “The Scrollman.” He had his own workshop where the wonderful pieces of art were made. He spent countless hours making different pieces for fun as well as selling his pieces at local craft fairs.


Through all of these sudden hardships, he is at peace and he is with his loving wife, Frances.


In honoring James’ life, Wake services will be Thursday, June 22nd from 4:00-8:00pm at Brust Funeral Home in Lombard, IL. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23rd at 10:00am at Brust Funeral Home. Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery to follow after services.
