Einar P. Oynes, age 95, of Lombard 62 years

OynesAmerican FlagEINAR P. OYNES, age 95, of Lombard, World War II Veteran, passed away on September 19th, a year after his wife Lorraine with whom he shared 70 years of marriage and missed dearly.

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 22nd, with Visitation from 10 AM to the time of Service at 12 Noon at Brust Funeral Home, 135 South Main Street, Lombard.

Interment Private.

Einar, known as ‘Jerry’ during his working years, was the third son of Magnus and Mathea, nee Olsen and was born on a farm in Galesville, Wisconsin.  He graduated from Galesville High School in 1940 and then attended the University of Wisconsin, College of Agriculture and graduated in 1941.

During WWII, Einar served aboard the USS Chester which operated throughout the Pacific.

After the war, he returned to Chicago where he married Lorraine on June 1, 1946.  He spent most of his working career in the air conditioning industry.  Einar enjoyed many years of travel with Lorraine to many countries, including Europe, the Far East and the Holy Land, as well as many areas throughout the United States.

Einar liked to garden, raise plants, and to tinker around the house as well as enjoying quiet time with his family.

He was a Lombard resident for 62 years and entered hospice care for cancer early in 2017.

Einar is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Pat) Carlson and Carol (the Late Robert) Bonn; his son, Jerry; and two grandchildren, Chris and Tim Carlson.
