Marilu D. Hammons, 88 of Lombard, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017.  She was born on August 29, 1929 in Ohio.  Most of her life she lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.  Her last several years, she lived at Lexington Square in Lombard where she had many friends and enjoyed many activities.  Her interests were her books, crossword puzzles and the internet.  She prided herself on being well read and enjoyed looking up articles on the internet for her friends.

Marilu is preceded in death by her husband Herbert H. Hammons in 1979.

Survivors include 2 children, Herb (Carol) Hammons of Palatine and Lauri (Tim) Scoughton, of Sandwich; beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Pete) DeBruin, Kristen (Michael) Book and Ryan (Tara) Day and 4 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6 from 2:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 PM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 22W415 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Helen Plum Memorial Library or the American Heart Association.

    So sorry to hear, and thank God it was fast. was with marilu at Janet Murphys memorial before I left for Ireland and England. We were to celebrate her birthday when I got back.
    Was friends with marilu since she was 65 and loved her, she was a real character, witty, very bright and she was like that the last time I saw her. Please let me know when her remembrance will be.
    we have mutual friends in Scotland and I will let them know.
    I will really miss her,,,she is someone to admire and she showed us how to stay truly alive to the end.
    May she rest in peace.

    So sorry to hear about my dear friend Marilu it was always a pleasure to meet up with her on my trips over to see my family when I would stop off at our mutual friend Ann Maayil in Chgo I will miss our trade offs of funnies on the Internet
