Hummel, Antoinette

Antoinette Della Hummel of Glen Ellyn, Illinois passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmhurst IL at the age of 74. Antoinette was born on May 13, 1943 in Birnamwood, Wisconsin to Joseph Jesmere and Marcella Jesmere (nee Zeinert).

Antoinette lived most of her life in the Chicago metropolitan area—in Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Lake County. She became a member of the Baha’i Faith in the early 1970s and remained an ardent and stalwart Baha’i throughout the remainder of her life. She was especially active in encouraging and supporting children and youth in the communities where she lived and often went out of her way to attend to their welfare and needs and to help others in general. She loved her family with all her heart and strove to represent the values and principles of the Baha’i Faith in all she did.

Antoinette is survived by her sister, JoAnne Sacco (married to George Sacco) of Lombard, IL; four daughters: Barbara Grollo (Peter Grollo) of Villa Park, IL; Donna Rubino (Frank Rubino) of Windermere, FL; Sheri Johnson of Lake-in-the-Hills, IL; and Loretta Broadway (Kevin Broadway) of Charlotte, NC; six grandsons, two granddaughters, and two great grandchildren. She will also be especially missed by two dear friends—Jean Ramirez of Glendale Heights, IL, a friend of Antoinette’s for more than 35 years; and Glen Hill of Glen Ellyn, IL, a friend for nearly two and a half decades as well as a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to the American Cancer Society. The burial (arranged through Brust Funeral Home in Lombard, IL) will be private at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia, IL. A memorial service will be planned in the future.
